When i did the blur, it blurred my sun not around it = /

You have to do ctrl (or cmd)+shift+I (as in eye). That will inverse the selection. Then do the blur. You just forgot one step. You might have turned the annotations off. It explains the whole video in the annotations. Hop this could help

Kind of irrelevant, but what program do you use to film your desktop like that?

I used iShowU. Another good one is called Jing, but it doesn't follow your cursor.
