@rvel "Clerks" and "Dazed and Confused" were both hits before "Rushmore". Rushmore came out in 1998. And even after "Rushmore" came out, most of the drama's Hollywood pumped out this were expensive Adam Sandler-type comedies or big blockbuster romances. Why would a mid-2000's trend start in 1998? Its unlikely. My guess is that the "Napoleon Dynamite"(which was far more popular), probably started the trend, at least the date's right.

definitely Wes Anderson's Best Film. Royal Tenenbaums and Fantastic Mr. Fox are special too, but he aint in the kind of zone throughout the movie like with this. though he reached to much mature territory with Darjeeling Limited, it's far from his best effort. Life Aquatic could've been so much better, it's just that the first half had alot of misfires(gladly, it redeemed itself once they go onboard the boat).
