GD's Dookie album defined every 90's kid at that time. And also popularized kids interest in Punk rock at the time.

i really don't understand why people rip on billie joe...he's extremely talented and so is green day. you can say whatever you want, but they are obviously doing a lot of things right. And I always hear people say "green day isn't punk". Well unless you are braindead, you would realize that green day has never REALLY been punk. They've said themselves that they just play music, and that they've never claimed to be all punk and harcore...they just make good rock music.

@theachtungtree I can tel you something though. Ramones were influenced by awesome bands, but Ramones made simple 3 chord songs.

Green day were also inspired by even greater bands when punk was still alive, and they too made 3 chord songs. Its only during the 2000s that they decided to make less raw but more talented songs that have more than 3 chords.
