  • Haha.. again the liberals are proven wrong. This video was made in 2008 and once again, government throwing out money to try to prop up free market enterprise does not work. The only losers are the poor tax payers paying the bill. A government run health plan will be the final straw that breaks the back of the worker... and this country. We are broke and the Dems keep trying to borrow or print more money. Ponzi schemes do not work.

  • OBSOLETE VID, should be removed.

two yrs proved you wrong !

  • TYT are full of crap, Liberal minds are poisoned, too many Americans have been lost to this......

  • @Zyworski If you're calling the republicans dumb because they gave those companies money, then shouldn't you be upset about the democrats doing an even bigger transaction of the same nature?

  • @MrWeeman9287 I damn well remember the Ross Perot, Al Gore debate over NAFTA where AL Gore talks about his friend who works at a tire factory in TN but they export because of tariff barriers, blah, blah, blah. The truth of the matter is that the probable factory he was referring to is only 5 miles from a giant Nissan factory to which it was dedicated. The only ones that I am calling dumb are the American people for putting up with a 2 party system that has been corrupted from both sides.

  • If it is true that Tennessee gave 577 M to bring VW to the state, then that means if the plant created 1,154 jobs those jobs cost an average of $500,000 a job. If you spread $500,000 over 10 years then it cost the state of Tennessee $50,000 a year for 10 years to create a job that will pay about $7,000 a year in taxes, and I doubt it even returns that much. My estimated net loss for Tennessee is $43,000 x 1,154 jobs = $49,622,000 per year for 10 years. Republicans want back in the power? LMFAO

  • The young Turk has his head screwed on backwards, what a dumb ass, this is common practice the entice large corporation to bring many jobs and future tax revenue to those states,The wind fall from doing business like that has always been a win win for those states in the past. And by the way, this is not the same as government bailout costing the tax payers over 50 BILLION DOLLARS to crop up bad business, and to feed the unions pension. Why is Obama in bed with the unions anyway, buying the VOTES ??

  • @ajkopy "this is common practice the entice large corporation to bring many jobs and future tax revenue to those states"

The problem is in order to favor these large companies with tax breaks you need to make up the revenue shortfall elsewhere. The increased tax burden on smaller, less favored companies will cost jobs in those businesses. A low tax and regulatory burden is one factor in creating a business friendly environment but it needs to be part of a larger economic policy.

  • Fuck all you fat cats!

  • am i wrong or is he actually arguing the federal gov. giving the big 3 tax payer funds VS. states attracting foreign companies to set-up shop in there own states to employ citizens of that specific state? there's a HUGE difference between a state bringing in a company with THEIR own incentives versus the feds GIVING away tax payer money.

  • @yambag71 I agree and literally these folks working in the "transplant factories" are not unionized, making less money, paying taxes to the federal government and those taxes are being paid to unionized factories in other states in order to keep them afloat, because they cant balance a budget, cause they have ridiculous benefits. its so awesome for the rest of us to have a leech on our taxes for ppl who get to greedy and forget to balance their pocketbooks.

  • After listening to this you realize that small businesses have no chance against the corps. When would you get small businesses getting support like that? Never!

  • Giving Tax Breaks to a company that is making money to entice them to come to your state or town is not the same as bailing out a failing company. Tax Breaks are given to US companies all the time. As a matter of fact, the Big 3 get tax breaks to be where they are and where they have gone.

  • Okay, it's like this......bought a new (BEAUTIFUL!) Oldsmobile Delta 88 Roadster. It was in the shop more than it was on the road. The dealership closed. Bought a brand new 1993 Accura Integra......just drove it to the junkyard 2 months ago with 360,000 miles on it. It STILL ran like a champ, but the FENDERS were so rusted that we had to duct tape them back on to drive it over to the yard! It wouldn't pass inspection any more for RUST, and it STILL wouldn't quit! Buy American?

  • My point is, the auto industry was told for YEARS that there was a need for autos with better gas mileage, smaller bodies, better engineering, something to compete with the Asian imports....and they kept churning out Hummers, huge SUVs and the like. If ANY of them had listened, they would have been ahead of the game. If they have to restructure now, it's not the American people's fault, but their own.

  • Comment removed

  • @mem16 , Yes, and if you listened to what people "WANT", and supply only that, wouldn't this be a fucked up place?! Asia realized ( because they at one time were not privy to the overabundance of money, gas, revenue ) that a smaller car that used less and worked efficiently was key. We Americans learned that ONLY within the LAST 2 YEARS, and out of DURESS. Smart US. Maybe YOU work for GM, huh, asshole? ( Right back at you!)

  • Comment removed

  • @mem16 . What a coward! You remove your comment calling ME an asshole 1st, and then do this? And I THREATENED you?? Who's incompetant? YOU can't even understand the English that you READ!

  • @redhead761 what do you mean exactly?

  • To hear the turkss inspiring story, go to: Her Name is Ms Ann, on YOUTUBE. It will surely inspire you as her minister tells it! A MUST READ. And Turks love it up the ass! Some need vaseline!

  • The Republicans have fucked the country into shambles, now we get the Democrats in to clean up the mess. what a coincodence to FDR.

  • Amen!

  • AND those states probly wertn making any money then so you need those plants

  • and the economy didnt suck a few years ago and there is new republicans form 2001 and the 1990s

  • Oh really? That's funny, because I remember a few years ago people griping about how bad the economy had gotten.

  • dude what does this have to do with repulbicans the state has to vote on the bill for those relocation republicans and democrats have to both vote on it

  • All you libs are full of shit. You're nothing but a bunch of pseudosocialists. So fuck off.

  • The republicans have long been noted for their ability to bait and switch, spin, and propaganda.

The dem's are not saints, but my point is the rep's are way better at it.

The time has come to clean the slate.

    Go Independants

  • Listen up you idiot republicans! We were attacked economically and the republican party wants to blow it off!

How were we attacked economically? By Opec when gas prices were raised last year thus car companies going under and the USA economy!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • By the way, these foreign auto companies pit southern red state against southern red state in a bidding war to drive up the "giveaway" cost that does not resemble anyhing logical. It's pathetic and led by Republicans. Recent GA revenue projections show a $1B shortfall in two years.

  • Vaxy: Apples and oranges BOTH grow on trees, incentives and bailouts both come from taxpayer revenue or future debt. State "give-aways" of real property and cancellation of 30+ years" of future tax obligations and other sweetners to connsumate a short end of the stick deal for jobs is an economic chimera. Maybe you were one of those fortunate few in the "big" scheme of things who got a job with one of the beneficiaries of these deals. I didn't.

  • Nor I but how is that relevant? "Apples and oranges BOTH grow on trees, incentives and bailouts both come from taxpayer revenue or future debt. " Still fruit from a different tree. Investment in the future vs. paying for past mistakes. Has either one worked? GM and Chrysler are at the end of their respective ropes. The incentives?"...for jobs is an economic chimera. " Got proof? Do you know the economic status of those areas where these "transplant companies" exist? Uygur didn't.

  • Vaxy: GA R governor just announced $106M in "incentive/giveaway" t/NCR t/locate corp. hqrs in suburb of Atlanta & ATM/cash reg manuf plant in Columbus anchored by military base. Promise: 2,120 jobs. Guess where a chunk of that money came from? Economic Stimulus ...likely some of the money that Louisana's R governor didn't want. Maybe corp subsidies at taxpayer expense are OK after all. I'll see if there are any stats 15-20 years down the road.

  • why are you in our country? leave, go back to Turkey. nobody wants you people here.

  • Why would the Democrats give tax payer money to Car Companies? CONTROL

  • With the insidious help of advertisement and media outlets Corporatism has the control. Man, if people people think the Dems and Repubs are solely to blame....there are only a part of it. There are a lot of factors for all of this.

  • Dude advertisement is for the weak of mind! Or

people who can't shake popularity issues...It

does nothing of it self...Its static...

  • Its called streaming and or favoritism...A plan, from the past....It fits an EEEC effect!

  • when i hear big 3 all i can think about is Churchhill, Roosevelt, and Stalin. just sayin.

  • Comment removed

  • when i here big 3 ineficiency I think of think of the soviet union inefficiency during the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

  • LoL ... Comparing millions to billions?

Quite a big difference there slick.

  • Very true. Uygur is, again, full of crap but always a laugh to listen to because he is so inept at presenting facts. His partisanship is almost pathological. Seriously, you would think that someone with the education he claims to have could distinguish between incentives to bring businesses over vs. bailouts to keep a business afloat. And despite his claims to the contrary, the issue with the UAW is the MAJOR THING. Next time, Uygur should take his own advice, and "put some thought behind it."

  • Vaxy: If Uygyr is such a laugh for you, then you can well imagine how funny it is to me when I stop by on ocassion to see if anything has changes with your dog and pony AM radio and Fox TV "entertainers" continue to spew their same old pathalogical foaming at the mouth neo-con and Orwellian spiel. Speaking of red herrings, your UAW side-step is one.

  • Not even in the ballpark, ace. You want red herrings, direct your vitriole towards your man Uygur. "your dog and pony AM radio and Fox TV "entertainers"" Mine? How is it mine? Oh, I see. Simply because my views don't side with yours? Ah, so that's how it works, eh? LOL!

  • Vaxy: Right because I knocked it and your superficial analysis out of the proverbial park. The reason "they" are "yours" is because what you are saying is the same thing they say. Figure out what side you are on.

  • Foul balls, ace because I already have. Superficial analysis? And still you have yet to provide an in depth counterpoint. I told you I didn't know the economic status of the states providing these incentives nor the impact that they've had. However, since Uygur, a biased, ideological dolt who makes Hannity look Swiss, couldn't provide any perhaps you could. You have statistics to back up your argument against the incentives, fine. Otherwise, both of us are just guessing.

  • There you go again, missing the allegorical & real world point by shifting the burden of me providing statistics instead of you providing them. I recall debate here in GA when several different sweetheart auto companies pit state against state. There were folks that did not want them then. GA said no on one ocassion but eventually lured Kia to LaGrange. There's no real cost/benefit analysis. One can make the numbers say anything. One could argue that bailout is a package of incentives.

  • i see 10 times more canadians smoke cigs and pot than i did in california....about what you'd expect from ignorant hillbillies. lack of education is an issue.

  • That statement just goes to show what a lack of education you've had.

  • my observations have nothing to do with my education.

ignorance of the outside world is very Canadian--small minds with provincial attitudes. touchy too!

  • this is one of the under-reported stories of the bailouts.

And do NOT get me started on how the banks were given huge amounts of cash without accountability, reporting, etc., and the banks are asking for more! and getting it! but not doing anything to improve the economy! D'oh!

  • I find it humbling that both parties are dirty. If Clinton had not sighned the Gramm leach Bliley act ( Financial Services Modernization Act) i would have reserved all my daggers for the repubs.

  • Get a clue man, this show is a joke

  • You are kidding me right..? The UAW has raped and pillaged the American economy and the spirit of free trade for 50 years. Anyone who thinks differently are members or idiots. They have caused the price of cars to rise, and the quality of them to decline for at least 30 years. Now, I admit that they had their place and time, but the time has come and gone. If they don't stop their bull, millions of retirees and employees will lose everything when the automakers go bankrupt... which they will.

  • Thank you for backing up your argument with facts.

  • Go back to the 80s when the corporate raiders bankrupted compaines, and our elected officials sold America to the highest bidders. It's all about money and everyone forgot about people trying to make a living. I remember in the 70s when robots came into GM, management said we would now have time to do more meaningful work, like, but they didn't say it would be finding another job. This country has never been the same since the poisoning of Tylonol bottles. Shame on man, for not caring more.

  • Go back to the 80s-90s and tell me how easy the work was. We have earned every penny we get for our pensions + benefits. I worked in smoke and dust fumes, with machinery from the 40's, spot welders, tools that were not ergonomically design, that crippled people doing their "easy" jobs. The UAW faught for our health and safty, GM never GAVE us anything. I'm a proud member of the UAW since 69', and would not have worked without them. Walk a week in our shoes, then tell me how easy we had it.

  • You won't buy our crappy cars, but we'll be taking your money anyway. in my neighborhood factories and businesses are shutting down and laying off. where's their bail out? why does it fall on taxpayers to save these corporations who should have managed themselves properly and shouldn't have gotten into this mess in the first place. FUCK THE US AUTO INDUSTRY! THIS IS NOT OUR PROBLEM! DOWN WITH GM! FORD! BURN!!

  • Just remember, what goes around comes around. Buy American because the Japanese do not. 65 years from now will your children buy a car made by the Talaban. 9-11 we will not forget. Pearl Harbor a day of infamy.

  • What the hell are you smoking?

  • HI !

  • STOP blaming the unions!Labor, only amount to 10% of the equation! What about the other 90%? Some of you who don't know, autoworkers have already taken large cuts in their benefits and pay in effort to "save the company".Retirees pay a fee to stay in the benefit system, pay 100% of all office visits and tests.Last 3 contracts union members voted to cut benefits and pay,to help the company.Pay IS now just about on par with the transplants, due to the members taking these cuts. Spring Hill,TN

  • It is not an AUTO BAILOUT-it is a UNION BAILOUT. The UNION that bought and paid for Democrat Politicians now want all taxpayers to keep them fat dumb and happy. What a scam. It would be funny if not so serious. Unions that held the Auto Makers hostage-now have the taxpayer, both Democrat and Republican, by the balls. Republican taxpayers will be financing Unions to contribute to Democrats in the Union's best interest. I doubt TYT could possiby understand this. Way over their heads.

  • how the fuck does all the blame go to the uaw. there not the whole fucking problem. how are people so blind to see these ceo's making waaaaaaaaaaayyyy to much money and for what? doing absolutely nothing. there just as bad as these overpaid actors and sports stars.

  • CORKER U SUCK! Thanks to GM building a plant in TN back in the late 80's, the area between Spring Hill and Nashville (about a 45 min drive that used 2B all fields) exploded with expansion, population, and thousands of jobs. BTW, NISSAN'S WORLD headquarters is now in TN! How do you say 'God bless America' in Japanese?

  • First of all before you go shooting your big mouth off about something you know nothing about, learn how to spell.

  • Obviously you are clueless. The labor and benefit costs are only 10% of the total cost to GM. Gredy? Don't think so pal. UAW members are totall supportave of charities and volunteering ON THEIR OWN TIME.Gate drives for charities and community involvement are what makes our members great.

$73/hr? No one ever sees this amount,$28/hr is about on par with the foreign transplants.

Already taken cuts since 2003, look it up.

  • calimar28-The foreign transplants don't have the retirees, because they haven't been here that long. Secondly, Toyota lost $1.7 billion last year, due to the North American market. The entire industry is laying people off, not just the Big Three. I do blame the Big Three, for allowing this debate to become us versus them, however.

  • Its all about busting the unions.

  • This 'anchor' is a terrorist. Someone needs to waterboard him for information.

  • Uh, those two things are completely unrelated. In one case, a company is getting tax breaks to choose one city or another. In the other case, the company is receiving money even though it is FAILING. It should go down and others will take it's place.

  • Those two things are wholly related. Both are instances of corruption where our elected officials have become nothing but pawns for the Piratical Robber Barons who run these corporations.

  • Actually, they aren't related at all. Re: these bailouts, the government is the one in the driver's seat.

  • ANY GUYS UP?

    i liked this video :) 14

  • Wow politicians are some fucked up people. No matter what side they are on.

  • And another thing...Toyota and Honda's CEO's make around a million per year. What do the Big 3's make???!

  • Loans are granted and within minutes, the UAW is wetting their pants and complaining. Ungrateful bastards. Hey UAW, if your companies continue to lose money, you will have to continue making concessions. It's not rocket science. Republicans have nothing to do with this...the problem is the UAW, CAFE, product quality, legacy costs, job banks, etc.

  • Fuck you, Young Turks. Between Mercedes' $253 Million Honda's $248 Million, Toyota's $58 Million, BMW's $150 Million, Nissan's $560 Million, and Kia's $415 Million, VW's $577 Million. It only cost $2.3 billion for ALL these foreign companies to hire people and make money on cars people buy. 3 American car companies are asking for $17 Billion, is laying off people and making cars NO ONE wants to buy or drive, and has staggering legacy costs which'll eventually bankrupt the big 3 any ways.

  • Rescuing the Big 3 would means forcing consumers to buy cars they DON'T want, which infringes on the consumers' rights to buy what they like under free trade agreements. Tax incentives to "buy American" which doesn't help because the price tags are overinflated as it is due to UAW. Increased taxes on imports won't make a difference because they're already set up shop in America and can act as an American company to bypass the taxes. Or, reinvest to build more factories and cut out the Big 3.

  • Or, Americans might be more inclined to spend even more just to get an import, rather than waste money on a stupid, cheaply made, high priced, American car.

  • "They're looking to kill the big 3 by not giving them a bailout."

    Moron. Absolute mindless slug.

Notice how now the refusal to let some company loot the Treasury (all of us!)is equivalent to killing them. Unbelievable.

    These fascists have to go.

  • Hey, in Japan income tax is like, 10% or so. Also, offering Co's $ to build fatories is not the same as bailing them out.

  • I guess he conveniently forgot about the democrats involvement in this whole bailout plan and their hypocrisy as well.

  • Its all politicians man. If anybody tells you "Let me be your 'elected leader', I swear I'll listen to you and do what you want", they just want power and as soon as they get it they will abuse it.

  • zbam: You're spot on, dude. The congressional hearings was for the benefit of the people to show that the politicos are doing their jobs. What a crock! The auto bailout was a foregone conclusion, since GM & Ford has been in a restucturing gear for years. The UAW has conceded wages and benefits the past 2 contracts to aid the mfgs in their restructure. The govt knows this. The people didn't. Show they put on a horse & pony show, rile everyone up knowing they'll give the money anyway. Incredible!

  • Your right. Here's what I want. I want a politician who will stay out of my way. Let me be who I am. I dont need their help, their filthy money, or a damn bailout. If I need help, thats what my neighbors are for. We should have the freedom to succeed or fail, the freedom to move, to live, to laugh, and to grow. There is no success without first learning to fail. There is no wealth without first learning about poverty. We must learn this as a people again. Government Stay out of the way!

  • I'm keying two new GM cars per day until they repay their loan.

I may even start bashing out the windows.

  • interesting... you are right no bail out for no one we need the money for school, hospital, cops and all the basic needs..

  • The big three do not have products which are gaining marketshare. They are done in the longrun. Life line will be given, but it won't fix the problem.

  • You say wntoply6 is gay now that explains all the hate. He is going to hell for sure for sucking all that "stick pussy" LOL

  • Only faggots can hate like that!

  • George Bush just gave "a loan" to GM & Chrysler. Ford said they can go it alone.

So lets change "Republicans", to "Cenk Uygur.

    New title..................

"Cenk Uygur Full of Crap on Auto Bailout".

    Looser...............

  • state and federal actions are different... personally I don't think any governements should be giving corporations money... but hey I dont pay taxes in fucking georgia or alabama, I do pay federal taxes though and I dont want MI getting my money. If I did I would be politicking there.

  • Al, SC, TN & GA led by Republicans in those states & giving away millions of taxpayer$s to foreign car manufacturers to locate in their states ...you got it right TYTs. Tell it like it is...

  • Companies, which, in turn, employ thousands of workers. I guess that little tidbit is another one those details that TYTs is famous for leaving out.

  • I think you missed the point entirely. See 3:02 Republicans think it's just great to give away our tax dollars at the state level but now that it's our own domestic companies, forget about it. Republicans just never make any sense or else I'd be one. They talk out of both sides of their mouths and mostly mumble their intellectual jumble.

  • Rubbish. As for "the point", there was nothing to miss. Uygur is presenting a non-issue. He can't even argue against the strategy working because he's more interested with the fact that the incentives were presented so he can make his idiotic comparison. He cites nothing to the big picture and the results of those programs. He's just twisting words around in a pointless attempt to compare the incentive millions vs. bailout billions. Apple and oranges.

  • hughster41: Not every car that is sold in the US is made here. That said, cars produced WHERE there is national healthcare balance out those produced in the US. Follow me, so far? So if only 30% of your product is made in the US, the 70% being imported has a HUGE advantage over the domestic industry. The combined average wages & benefits from their total production is significantly lower than the Big 3. You really want to see foreign CEO's set wage standards for US workers? Totally Un-American!

  • A fuel pump cost you $1000!!! I'm calling bullshit on that one, sorry. You could have done it yourself for less than $100. Fact is, we could all have Univ Health Ins for far less than we're paying now. We pay twice as much per capita as the next highest cost country & rank 52 in service provided. By leveraging the buying power of 300mil people, we negotiate lower prices across the board AND, we get rid of 27% in overhead costs/profit. We'd all pay, but we'd pay far less.

  • Fattkidd: Who paid $1000 for a fuel pump? Must have been one of those hot European models, huh? Not any American car. Then again, if you're easily taken advantage of by others, why should a service dept be any different? LMAO

  • true, but we're talking total cost of labor as it affects price of autos. if you have one plant where you have to pay for health care, the affect that has on the cost of your product is minimal. if you have dozens of plants where you have to pay for healthcare, along with thousands of retirees you have to provide healthcare cost for, the impact on the price of your product is much greater in comparison. that said, the 3% price difference is pretty good, considering. get it now?

  • Why is it that Liberals are the first to bitch and complain when an industry or certain companies are making profits and also the first to bitch and complain when a business or industry is collapsing?

I thought Libs are anti-Big Business b/c they are greedy corporatist fascists? Libs should be happy that the auto industry is failing, the auto industry are a big business. I just don't get it.

  • dicendimes: The only ones bitching are those like yourself, opposed to taxpayer loans to the Big 3. EVERY automaker, foreign & domestic, is feeling the pinch right now. It's not that the Japs & Euros haven't asked for help because they have. Just not from the US. They asked their own govt. You won't see that on Fox News because they only report right wing agenda. But check out Bloomberg News. MSNBC. and others who dispel the truth over 'fair & balanced'. Libs are pro worker, not anti business.

  • You know why we oppose it, b/c its a waste of money to just give it to them. They have to change the way they do business, otherwise, they're just gonna burn through that money and ask for another bailout later. I never said a damn thing about the Japs & Euros. What do you know bout Fox News? Its obvious you don't even watch it.

Libs are anti-business. Libs were the ones bitching about "record profits" of the oil companies and failings of auto companies. Which one is it?

  • I watch Fox news. I watch ALL the news. I really think everyone bitches about the 'record' profits of the oil companies, mainly because we can't do anything about it. As for automobiles, if you don't like the car you own, buy another brand. Not so easy with oil. I just threw in the Jap & Euro stuff to see if you were awake. Libs are not anti-business, they're pro worker, not pro welfare. The Big 3 already started to change their business, just got caught by the lousy Wall St economy too soon.

  • Why should you do anything about the "record profits"? Isn't the purpose of a company to make profits?

There are just as many oil companies as there are car companies, but you can do something about use of oil, reduce your consumption of it or use alternative energy.

Libs are not pro-worker, they are pro-welfare. They promote the Welfare State, what do you think Universal Health Care is? Libs want to tax the worker more and spend more to help the "poor" on welfare who refuse to work.

  • One last thing, Libs are not pro worker. Libs are pro-welfare and pro entitlement class. Libs raise taxes on workers, Obama even proposed to raise payroll taxes, who does that effect? The workers. Libs are pro-union b/c Unions remove choices of workers. A worker can't negotiate their own labor contract and has to go with whatever the union tells them to do and they have to pay a huge chunk out of their paycheck to their union as well.

  • Did you ever talk to an auto exec? When dealing with thousands of employees, having a union makes it a lot easier. The autoworkers have different pay scales, depending on job classification. Do you think those that work for Toyota negotiate their own labor contract? Which, by the way, is a laugh in itself. You do what they tell you to do for how much pay they're willing to give. End of discussion. Don't like it? Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

  • The reason they can't negotiate with Toyota is b/c they have no leverage. Most of these guys who work in these auto companies have very little skill or education, but they get paid a lot to do this job, that's why they do what they're told and for how much. The more skilled and educated you are, the more you can demand of an employer for your salary and benefits. That's reality and how the free market system works. Unions use thuggery tactics to strong arm companies.

  • Where does TheYoungTurks get their money from? Oh that's right the left.

  • The fact even Chrysler is asking for bailout money shows how lunatic bailing Detroit out is.

Cerberus owns Chrysler w/ lots money. If all Chrysler needs is a "bridge loan" as they put it, they could get it from Cerberus. Well, they wouldn't. They want to dump the burden on taxpayers, because why not? There's a new president coming in who vows to spread debt & burden, I mean "spread the wealth".

"Lay your insanity off my wallet" For once we have to root for republicans to fight the farleft.

  • the retirees came in the 1990's AND the 90's!?!!?

  • Wow, just learned the divorce rate in America is declining at a rapid pace ... SO LETS BAIL OUT THE MONEY-GRUBBING DIVORCE LAWYERS WHO USED TO LIVE HIGH-ON-THE-HOG LIKE THE AUTO WORKERS DO !

  • So, what that tells me is, instead of cutting worker's pay, we need Universal Health Insurance passed & we need to have foreign auto companies pay into retiree pension fund too. Call it a cost of doing business in US. Btw, Koreans are fighting each other in Parliament right now over whether or not they should lift tariffs on foreign autos coming into Korea. Fair trade, eh? Oh, & F-150 is #1, Silverado #2 on top selling vehicles in US for 2008. F150 has been #1 last 27 yrs.

  • well, what do you think will happen if they go belly up? you think those auto workers will continue to work? you think those plants will stay open? wake up & use your brain! new hires at GM are starting @$14/hr. Is that not low enough for you? How much do you think they should make? I guess you're going off the bullshit $73/hr figure? That's bunk. That includes all legacy costs as well which foreign autos don't have. foreign autos also have national health care & they still pay out almost $50/hr

  • i feel they should go under, its not the taxpayers fault they're product..everyone i speak to and ask what car would you have.i get 1. honda accord any year..what ford or chevy gets that recognition. and Chrysler how can you have 70% of your model base plagued with transmission problems for years and not work that out, and GM releasing the same cars under different brands. like the blazer=bravada=jimmy just bad decisions for years and we got pay for it..but for those families,id help them

  • msnbsdnc: You're a good example of how light travels faster than sound. You seem bright until you open your mouth.

  • UAW = MAFIA. They have to go. For once republicans are proposing the right policy.

  • dlmaniac: What an ignorant statement. The republicans have been wrong for 8 years and blind patriotism has led you to believe that all's well in the USA. The policies of the republicans is nothing more than the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. Always has been their policy, always will be. Free markets are a concept that only works when your trading partners have free markets. The US fails to adequately police trade agreements and we all suffer in the end. The US is in a race to the bottom.

  • Ten years ago a barrel of oil was $11. The oil companies have been raping us for the last few years. The oil companies should bailout the big 3. As for the asian countries.

They wont let American car makers sell their cars there. So much for global freetrade. The big 3 should have seen the writing on the wall with fuel prices. They make better car commercials than cars. Now that gas is cheaper we can make it. We still control the stock market so don't buy oil. Let it dive. Hang on!

  • Why would Toyota or Honda beg America for money? They have their own government who help run their companies and offer subsidies. The government also funds the universal health care system.

You actually thought the Japanese companies were competing on a level playing field??

The Republicans already know this but are more concerned with taxing foreign car companies than standing up for an American industry.

  • Spectre1B: Yea!! Finally someone who gets it! There is no level playing field and thats a fact that has fallen on deaf ears in Washington for years. Repub traitors gave HUGE incentives(ie;taxpayer money) to foreign auto compamies to locate in their states. What better way to keep their promise of a non-union workforce than to spin the reason we're in this economic mess. Blame and try to cripple the UAW for the Big 3's problem, and the pressure to unionize Toyota and the rest is lessened.

  • Dingleberry,

Japanese government backs their car company, we don't. If your panties are in a wad because of the US way of doing things, move to Japan.

Where's my bail out? What about small business's that went down? What's wrong with buying foreign cars since they aren't crap?

  • Dumbass,

There is a difference between localized business and globalized business. The rest of the world will continue to skew the playing field in their favor and couldnt care less if we let every single manufacturing job go bankrupt.

  • Retard,

It's called the USA. Either your company strives or it falls. In this case, one of the big 3 shall fall...that's their own fault.

  • Dont worry, George Bush will save them.

  • only thing worse than faggots are christfags

  • I laughed so hard when I watched this.

Then I realized it wasn't a joke, and felt like crying.

  • mo-ron.

  • How hypocritical. The person most filled with crap is claiming other people are full of crap.

Youre an idiot Cenk, and so is anyone who views TYT for any reason other than to laugh at this fat son of a bitch.

  • Yes, he has the blinders on. No diff between them. He is an Obama Sheep.

  • BINGO!

  • and there you go again hughster, proving your bigotry, hate and ignorance.

are you just that stupid that you don't understand what you said is plain bigorty? or do you think hating only a certain segment of society does not constitute bigorty?

either way you show your total stupidity on the subject. YOUR TOTAL STUPIDITY, YOU BIGOT!

  • rtardbox: Just a thought...If the Big 3 fail, I guess NASCAR will follow. Nobody I know wants to watch Toyotas and Hondas at Daytona or anywhere else. These southern repuklicans are going to end up with more collateral damage than they bargained for. Nascar Killers! They provided incentives for the foreign transplants to locate in their states. Incentives ARE tax breaks. It's still taxpayer money being used in the private sector, you idiot! You say bailout, I say loan. You're wrong, I'm right.

  • so because you only hate some & not all, you're not a bigot right dipshit? if ever there was a fucking stupid bastard man, you're it. a bigot's a bigot no matter who he hates. you hugh are a bigot. you're a disgusting "christian"republican on top of it. give me a few minutes and i'll find a third disgusting characteristic...oops here comes 2 more, you're a stupid, "christian"republican, lying bigot. that makes 4 traits most americans hate & you posses,i don't care what lowlife job you had!

  • The unions are what is detroying the 'big 3'! Why are Mercedes, Toyota, and Honda made in the U.S. doing well? They aren't unionized, duh!

  • you're an idiot

  • I agree sameold, those auto union workers were being to damn greedy to accept a dinky wage cut to keep their employer from going down under.

  • The Unions are not destroying the Big 3. Quit being ignorant and do some research for a change. Try walking in my and the retirees shoes for a change, then and only then will you realize why we make the wages and benifits. Most of the people who talk crap about the UAW are either Ignorant or envious, because you don't have a job at the big 3. If it wasn't for the UAW, those autoworking jobs in the south, as you mentioned, wouldn't be making $25 an hr. Duh!

  • I did do research, and union people in the auto industry just push buttons all day or put put on the bumper of a truck for 8 hours. They really don't have to have an IQ above 30 to do that, now do they?

Wrong, Toyota doesn't go by the union crud and they are not asking for a bail out. Gee, could it be because they are not part of the union greed?

  • hougSTAR: How about trying to be a little more informed than you are! Toyota DID ask for aid, just not from the US because they're a foreign owned company. As far as having an IQ of 30 to build cars, you're an idiot. GM doesn't hire ANYONE with less than a high school education, and that's only if you pass an apititude test. Go research that fact! This mess is not caused by union greed, but you're too ignorant to figure that out on your own. Whats your IQ again? hmm, close to 30, I'll bet!

  • You silly idiot, Toyota NEVER asked for a bailout..where is your proof? High school education doesn't mean anything, you can get a GED online now. Maybe you should check that out for yourself, since acting all hard on the internet is your trait.

  • How about Bloomberg News! How about MSNBC. Go check it out for yourself. The Europeans asked for 50 billion in aid from their respective countries. Don't have a figuire for the japs, but then again they don't play fair anyway. As hard as I am, you distribute bullshit lies in your posts. A GED won't cut it at GM.

  • cenk, YOU IDIOT

when a STATE gives money to a company to come to that state they do it as an INCENTIVE

INCENTIVE is different than HAND OUT

INCENTIVES get a large company in the state to make a profit over the long-term. it's an INVESTMENT

    BAIL-OUTS are just BULL CRAP

let the big 3 DIE! eF 'em!

p/s if the big 3 wanna survive maybe MICHIGAN can pony up the money... NOT the federal gov.

p/s/s the fed sucks, may bush die soon, cenk is a retard

  • If they go under then the federal government is on the hook for all their pensions. That's hundreds of billions of tax payer dollars.

  • Not really, the gov can give them the slammer. The workers didn't want a wage cut to get a bail out, which is what the gov offered.

Therefore, since they didn't accept it, the government has the upper hand since they denied their only offer and the workers think they will still get paid $26 to sit on their butts. Not the governments problem, union people were being greedy, and no one will outdo the US government in greediness.

We don't need them, just go buy a Toyota.

  • You don't get it. Pensions are backed by the feds, just like bank accounts. Even if they go away today, those pensions still have to be paid. That's on top of the unemployment benefits the current workers are going to get.

  • Not anymore, according to the new bail out agreement.

  • The GOP would not be stupid enough to cut off pensions to old people. How are they ever going to win another election if they do that?

  • rigged voting machines?

  • The Big 3 are going down, and the young turk can go with them if it likes.

  • The big three are producing gas guzzling lemons which nobody wants, their sales are going down because of it and this is why they need a bailout. The Japanese companies in the south ... the "transplants" who couldn't come north even if they wanted to because of labour laws courtesy of the union strength up north.

Look Turk I know economics is not your strong point but unions are counter productive in today's economy as they price labour inregions like the north out of range of producers.

  • There's more to it than that you Turk! The big 3 want FEDERAL TAXPAYER DOLLARS to bail them out. Now what the southern states did to bring companies to their states is okay in that its not a BAILOUT! Big difference!

Cutting government aid programs in exchange for bringing jobs to a region is a smart trade off. Jobs are long term better paying social program as opposed to simple government handouts.

The real problem with the big 3 is that they aren't producing what the consumer wants!

  • hmm, wait a minute, isn't it you "christian"republicans who don't like muslims & mormons?

seems you "christian"republicans relish spending all your time hating don't you?

i would assume hugh, with all your "education" you would eventually get sick of ignorance & hating, but i underestimated your capacity to hate. seems you've more hate than any one man other than the nazis & the aryan nation. worse of all, i bet you're damn proud of your association those organizations...aren't you?

  • Yeah, fuck'em. Let 'em go down. But, just remember that when you come lookin for assistance from the gov't when you lose your job too.

  • But no one bitched about the bank bailout! We gave AIG $150 BILLION altogether! What people seem to forget is that the government LOANED one of Detroit's Big 3 money back in the 1980s and they PAID IT BACK WITH INTEREST, EARLY!!! There is about a 12% chance that just one of the banks will pay back ANYTHING AT ALL! We Give Citi Bank tons of money and they are still paying $20 million a year to have a stadium named "Citi Field" yet no one is complaining! SCREW ALL OF YOU IGNORANT FOOLS!

  • Amen.

  • Cenk, you are a retard.

Government intervention with the auto industries will be very detrimental to our economy and the value and strength of the dollar.

You're just an independant redio host, your ass will be out of a job.

Why can't people see this is bad for all of us.

    Can't wait till 2012.

  • Bullshit. Those companies made money for years. If they're not profitable now, it's not the fault of unions. Total labor/legacy costs for Big 3 are less than 10% of price of autos. For foreign autos, it's a little over 7% & they don't have legacy costs or health care to pay for. Right now, new hires at GM start at $14/hr with almost no pension. How many cars do you think big 3, or any other car co. for that matter, will sell here when the avg wage in US falls to $10/hr? None. That's how many.

  • MY JOB ISN'T GUARANTEED. LIFE IS TOUGH

  • WE OWE THEM NOTHING. LOSER

  • Bailouts are pure robbery on taxpayers who are not even allowed to vote on this. Think hard on this: where does government get the bailout money now they have a huge debt already? Two ways: raising tax and dollar printing spree. Both will screw taxpayers.

Don't believe all that "taxpayers are protected" crap Obama is selling you. He doesn't protect nobody. He simply cannot. These bailouts will crash Dollar, and Obama is not going to inject money into taxpayer's account to make up for the loss.

  • The "Bailout" should be viewed more accurately as loans given to corporations, that are CO-SIGNED by congress members in the name of all TAXPAYERS! These Taxpayer backed LOANS are turning our Government into a Lender of Last resort. The same Government that can't manage the money they take (steal) from past and current tax revenues.

Seems to me that the Democrats and the Republicans should both be more focused on teaching society to understands the importance of saying, "NO to Lenders!"

  • Yeah, fuck the UAW! Fuck anyone who makes more than $10/hr! Fuck 'em all! We should all work for a dollar a day & a bowl of rice & be glad to have it!!! What ungrateful slaves we all are! Yeah, those poor corporations aren't making enough money! They need to be free to fuck us in the ass! How dare we demand better working conditions & a higher standard of living! That's what's wrong with America! We want to get paid to work! Why can't we be more like communist China!?

  • I'm not defending Republicans because I think BOTH parties suck, but if we bailout the auto industry to "save" jobs how many jobs will we destroy with the money we take from the taxpayers?

How many less nurses, engineers, computer geeks, architects, auto repair men, etc... will we have when we take money from one group of people and give it to another group of people?

We will destroy more jobs than what we'll save. Economics is plagued with unseen consequences.

  • I agree with you jortizz.

And if you want an estimate of how many jobs will be lost by bailing out auto industry figure that auto workers make 3 times as much as average workers so three times as many jobs could be lost as saved.

And then multiply the 3x by some estimate to include the reality that it takes more money to save a crippled industry job as it takes to save a marginally struggling industry job.
