Then you simply misunderstood.. after all I commented on BOTH software vs. hardware AND the price for the deal. I don't think software truly replaced hardware, in fact saying 'get ableton+PadKontrol/Trigger finger' doesn't really make your story reliable at all. The Padkontrol is fine, but it still has latency issues. It's simply not the same. Ableton is alright, but I use all sorts of software together with hardware, which is where the true strength of my equipment comes from.

its really a matter of preference. people say hardware gives better results but then u have plenty of mainstream highly paid producers using reason and fl studio to produce major songs(exclude souljah boy). if u prefer an mpc go for it, all software does is emulate hardware

um? I was replying to somebody who said its a good deal ($999) for what it has in it, i was simply saying yes but you can get better applications for under half the price. If you were trying to imply that I personally need to invest in "proper hardware" then i simply laugh at you, I am a full time music producer/sound designer. But to be honest I know you will feel like you must come back with some crap so it really doesn't bother me I know what gear I have and you know nothing, worm.

I don't care what you are man, what you said made little sense. 999$ is not a good deal, second hand it's a far better deal for about 500$ or so, the retail price is quite expensive. For almost twice that 999$ you got FAR better equipment that easily outdoes the 1K 10-fold.

P.S. just because the MPC is HARDWARE doesn't mean it has cogs inside which chop, map and edit waveforms, the MPC runs software so in a way software is the "holy grail"

But without it's hardware pieces it would not run, so it's still hardware that is more important in the end. Sure, nowadays you need an operating system and software for hardware to function, but software couldn't even exist without hardware.
