I meant what I said. Country isn't country anymore. If my comment offended you, I really don't care. Just like the Opry doesn't care that millions of people want the real music back. Why does Carrie Underwood deserve the same honor that was bestowed upon Hank Williams, Kitty Wells and Loretta Lynn? She doesn't sing the same music. How does singing pop music qualify anyone to be a member of the Opry? Might as well induct Britney Spears next. I'm not saying Carrie isn't amazingly talented, but draw a line somewhere. If anything, the Opry should be concerned with preserving what it helped originate, not promote something entirely different. Where are Dale Watson, Wayne Hancock, and Heather Myles? It was great to see Carrie get inducted to the Opry. It has been two years now, and what a wise decision by the Opry management.
Carrie has done and won sooo much since then, which should quiet all the naysayers saying that she is too young or hasn't done enough yet.

What is the Grand Ol' Opry? It's only the premiere country music showcase in the nation. Just being asked to perform on the show is an honor, being asked to become a member is about as high as you can get in country music.

I meant what I said. Country isn't country anymore. If my comment offended you, I really don't care. Just like the Opry doesn't care that millions of people want the real music back. Why does Carrie Underwood deserve the same honor that was bestowed upon Hank Williams, Kitty Wells and Loretta Lynn? She doesn't sing the same music. Heather Myles does, so you can't say it's a "changing times" thing. Why isn't SHE a member? Dale Watson said it all with "Country My Ass". Everyone should listen.

How does singing pop music qualify anyone to be a member of the Opry? Might as well induct Britney Spears next. I'm not saying Carrie isn't amazingly talented, but draw a line somewhere. If anything, the Opry should be concerned with preserving what it helped originate, not promote something entirely different. Where are Dale Watson, Wayne Hancock, and Heather Myles? You know,,,the COUNTRY singers. Sorry if this offends anybody but Nashville needs to quit shutting out real country music.
