"Dukes of Dixieland was a New Orleans dixieland revival band formed in 1948 by brothers Frank Assunto, trumpet; Fred Assunto, trombone; and their father Papa Jac Assunto, trombone and banjo.
Their first records featured Jack Maheu, clarinet; Stanley Mendelsohn, piano; Tommy Rundell, drums; and Barney Mallon, tuba and string bass.
During its run the band also featured musicians such as Pete Fountain, Jerry Fuller, Jim Hall, Herb Ellis. And Bob"Duke" Assunto [Son]" - wikipedia
I usually DETEST this song that you hear so much at the ridiculous political party conventions but the Dukes turn it into something well worth hearing. BRAVO for the Dukes.......best there ever was.
@FlierFrank172 I've always liked this song, not because of anything to do with politicians, which I detest for the most part. But because the Hooterville Volunteer Fire Dept. "band" used to always play it on Petticoat Junction and Green Acres....LOL. In fact, I keep waiting for Oliver Wendell Douglas to do his patented slow burn and tell everybody they're doing the song all wrong and then when they start playing, they do it exactly the same again.
Frank, Fred and Papa Jac are the only musicians listed and given credit for playing on this album jacket. If anyone else played clarinet, they were not mentioned.
Please, could you confirm who are the clarinetist of ths album? It´s seems it is not Pete Fountain (at least consulting Discography of Dukes of Dixieland)..Thanks
Frank and Freddie died much too young, Fred at 36 and Frank at 42. Who knows what great dixieland music would have been produced if they had lived longer? Papa Jac lived to 79 but he had long since stopped playing. His wife, Josie..or Josephine outlived him.

Late one night, while the t-sips were in bed,
Ol' Sul Ross, put a lantern in the shed,
an Aggie kicked it over, he winked his eye and said
"there'll be a hot time, in Austin, tonight."
unofficial lyrics to the end of the Aggie War Hymn (its the Texas A&M fight song but don't you dare call it that)

Pete only joined the group for a gig in Chicago and one LP for RCA. This is probably Jerry Fuller.
