Stress Factor`s Women`s Self Defense class introduction. In this video we explain a few key differences in the male and female bodies when it comes to fighting and we go over some of the primary tools and basic rules ...
I took martial arts for 9 years.. i am a second degree brown belt... but just vefore i got my black belt the Dojo was evicted =( wish i could go back and get a black belt...
People I can assure all of you that KIAI really helps. I once tried to fight someone and make a wristlock or take him down to the ground -- I wasn't able to do it.
Then I applied kiai to the scene and now I really was able to get it done.
Just an addition for those who want something practical.
3:29 I love how the puncher aims at his stomach with a long and easy to see stepping punch then even begins to move his arm downward before the defender even touches him
This stuff is cool in all but honestly only trained people roll. others just let you break their arms etc cause they wont roll lol. Cool stuff. I rather continue doing ATA.
Nice to see and bit of energy/ki used in the tecniques. To all those doubters, go along and see for yourself with other contemporary attacks. They are taught as your learn more. Aikido - Perth - Australia
@abenice A lot of the grabbing attacks (like those on the wrists) in aikido are remnants of samurai jujutsu. The samurai would indeed grab their opponents like that to keep them from drawing their swords. We keep these attacks in aikido because they are easy ways for beginners to learn techniques that can later be applied to more realistic attacks.
This is a video of Aikido experts demonstrating basic Aiki-Jitsu. There is a difference. The difference has to do with the essential difference between do and jitsu.
what you call a skirt was used to cover the foot movements of the Samurai back in the days. It should come down to your heels, but when fighting you bend your knees couseing it to cover ur foot.
well the translation is that in the street u r not in a UFC fight and limited on what u can and can't do... and ur so called contemporary defense is solly basied on sport MMA....
Firstly let me just state that i believe all marial arts training will help you in a streetfight, not because of the tecnique, but because it trains your body for combat.
The one big issue i have with this particular martial art, is it looks like a show more than a battle. The fact that it is a relatively new martial art, it has not been proven useful in combat through history. Also, there are no actual battle material and no full-contact tournaments.
aikido principles are a strong component in krav maga which is the ultimate self defense system used by most special forces...
the reason why u see them rolling is this: if they wouldnt they would break bones and legaments,in other martial arts u just go soft, not full force,no full pressure so u dont need to roll...but aikido is very good
Actually the tecnique for falling; Keeping your head up and slapping the mat. Is taken from judo. It is a way to minimize the force generated from the fall.
But thats not really what i have a problem with. I would agree that Aikido works in the slowpaced tempo shown in this video. However i dont believe its a practical defence for quick jabs or grapling.
Also krav maga is a tecnique designed for close quarters defence against armed oponents, its not designed for a fistfight.
krav maga its 360° actually its designed for everything, even punches, kicks etc., but of course in krav maga there are no games and no tournaments couse its a matter of life or death...I think that aikido its not really easy but once u mastered the techinque its very effective, see Steven Seagal
this is great stuff i'm personaly studying this vid as much as posibel to get everything out of it that i can!(lack of funds to pay for lesons) but this movie is amazind i love the shoulder grab, bear hug, and punch defences on this vid!
Sensei Yousuf A. Mehter is an incredibly wise man with amazing aikido. I have had the pleasure of being present for his seminars. Johnathan was my instructor while he was living here in Albany, NY. He is great as well. Excellent video, I can wait for Johnathan and Yousef sensei to come back to do a seminar here in Albany!
so have these things been street tested?

@bonnengo That's the point of aikido. It doesn't require any force to throw bigger guys than you are.

who the fuck punches like that lol.Anyway some techniques were good.but I don't think that Aikido can be used to counter strikes.

@frenchguy09 countering strikes using your opponents momentum with locks and throws is what aikido is all about
