Tail docking is unjustified mutilation to the spine, muscles, tendons, and 7 pairs of highly sensitive nerves.  There are 3 reasons people give for it:

1.To avoid tail damage in working dogs who hunt through vegetation: So to prevent it from getting damaged, you damage it? Brilliant. Tail injuries occur in < 0.5% of working dogs.

2.The hair can be fouled by feces: Can feces not be removed by soap & water?

3.To maintain breed standards: Change the standards. Docking is banned in 60% of the world.

White schnauzers can be registered as AKC or CKC, but they can not be shown in conformation. They can be shown in Conformation pretty much every where else in the world including Germany their country of origin. You can check out the genetics at White Miniature Schnauzers Club International. I own a black and silver and a salt and pepper.

The dogs fur was orignally cut in this fasion to protect him from the rodents he was bred to kill. They would mat the beard to protect the face and leave the furnishings long on the legs so they were less likely to be injured by a wounded rats. The eyebrows helped to keep the sun out of thier eyes. The hair on the body was trimmed short to keep the dog cool in summer and left long in winter.

Your puppies are adorable. Their are no health related issues regarding white schnauzers, they are the same as their Salt and pepper, black and silver and black counter parts. They are not albino, or genetic mutations. The Mm alleles or the Merle gene is responsible for blindness and deafness, schnauzers do NOT carry this gene. The white fur is just a recessive gene, to have white puppies both parents must have the e gene in their DNA. You can get white pups from a salt and pepper dog.

White schnauzers have nothing wrong with them!! They are rare bc breeders a long time ago killed them bc no one wanted them if they were not salt/ pepper or phantom. There is no difference in health concerns based on the color of their fur. Get your shit straight and quit hating on ppl who have a rare bred dog. I have a 6 month old mini schnauzer and he is amazing and I've had one before for 13 YEARS - no heAlth probes. No need for you to be a dick

The white gene in schauzers is a BAD thing; it is associated with health problems such as epilepsy, bone and skin issues as well as eye issues like blindness. Breeders that are producing them on purpose should be reported.

@flinchagainstthefire This is interesting, I'm trying to find more info on white schnauzers because about a year ago my husband and I rescued one from the streets here in Mexico (didn't know what it was until the vet checked and cut all the mats of hair off). He's absolutely gorgeous and does seem to have very sensitive skin, though, but we assumed that was because he was covered from head to toe in ticks. He's also a little taller than miniatures, but he's definitely a white schnauzer.

This is a standard schnauzer cut. they look fuzzy because this is puppy hair.

@eikifr if you get a puppy, then i recommend just leaving their fur fluffy and keeping it brushed until it's about 6 months old and the hair will look good schnauzer style. good luck with your dog!

Why? What does it matter if they have tails. There are several breeds that have stupid looking tails or their historical job prevents them from having tails. They dock dogs tails when they are only a few days old before they get blood flow to their tail. No Blood=No feeling.

@malinmajsan It depends how you get their tail clipped...it you use a eleastic and tie it around their tail it will fall off eventually..and it does not hurt the dog. If you do it..the painful way of stitching the tail back together it;s likely illegal like in my province.

Yes they do actually, i have a mini white one who is the most adorable thing in the world..the good thing about the white ones is that they're hair is so much easier to comb n wash since it's not so thick. And no they're is no such thing as a Golden Schnauzer, people are just mixing the breed with something else n therefore creating problems for the dog
