  • The Q2's are NOT the same as the Qualifier II...Q2's are made in the same factory were they make the AMA race tires (Buffalo N.Y.)... while Qualifier II are made in Japan for OEM bikes... Q2 is a hypersport street/track tire while the Qualifier II's are sport touring tires...the Q2's are as good as DOT race tires were 6 or 7 years ago.

Q2's are made for the American market because the Q2's are called SportSmart in the U.K. and Europe.

  • wish i could try those Q2's on my 600RR i bet they're fantastic, i have been running Pilot Powers (not 2CT) ever since i started doing trackdays & they were a tire which helped me learn to develop throttle control skills as they are so easy to slide when you roll on too aggressively on corner exits, after 4yrs i moved up to the Power Race (not the race version) just to try it & see how it feels like, good rubber but it doesn't give much feedback or predictability so i was afraid to push it.

  • then i tried the Power Pures, way better than the Power Race, loads of grip even when the track was wet, i even raced them in the rain & won, great front tire especially if you trailbrake a lot. now i am testing BT003 DOT race tires, running T3 front & T2 rear, this is my first time using Bridgestones on my bike, i have rebuilt my forks with Ohlins springs & DIY fork valving, running a WP 4618 race shock which are awesome, when the rear tire gets hot the grip is fantastic but.....

  • the front still feels quite vague to me, i'm not getting as much heat into the front tire as i'm still dialing in the forks & the stiffer carcass of the BT003 isn't helping in getting a quick warm up, when i get back to the track i'm going to focus on tuning the forks to get more load over the front, i slid the front tire a couple of times during corner entry on different sessions, didn't spook me but it kind of dampened my confidence a bit but the rear is amazing when i got the shock dialed in.

  • btw i agree that DOT's are a waste if you aren't fast enough to keep the heat into these tires, they're quite slippery if they're not up to temp, most newbie track riders believe that they'll lap quicker if they use one of these on their bike, they're only kidding themselves, they also forget the importance of suspension tuning to get more grip & life out of their tires, they think that engine mods that improve hp will lower their lap times. LOL

  • why switch back to Bridgestone if you already have the Q2 installed, you just gonna mess up the geometry of your bike.

  • 190/55 rear? a completely different bike! original is 190/50!

  • @fabmao22 Why would it be a completely different bike, because I use a 190/55 rear and not the "original" 190/50? Stupid assumption imo.

  • @Pittimus84 I agree with your choice in full. I really like the choice of 190/55! profile more pointed and more contact to the ground, slightly higher in the back with a more load on the front! Unfortunately, 55 is not approved for use on the road! : (

  • @fabmao22 Where do you live to where a 190/55 is not approved for road use? Everyday all day where I live.

  • @Pittimus84 I live in Italy. Unfortunately, the registration certificate, the motorcycle is approved only with the 190/50 ... But with around 55, say they are an "outlawed"! ih ih ih

  • @fabmao22 WOW, how does that happen in the land of Valentino Rossi. Well in the US you can run a huge range of tires and sizes on the street that are totally legal.

  • @Pittimus84 Even here in Italy there are many tires 190/55 approved. Motorcycles as R1, S1000RR, 1198, ZX10R, etc ... are approved with the 190/55. But with motorcycles as a naked FZ1, Z1000, CB1000R approval applies only to 190/50. How sad! Luck is here that the police will control only the consumption but not the size. Therefore mounting the 55! ;)

  • whay are you eating chickin strips at the track lol

  • I see u know a lot about motorcycle tires.. u said in ur previous video ur riding is no where near the level of DOT race tires, u said u stick stick stick on these tires.. do u mean the DOT race tires r way too sticky for u to max them out, scary enough that u would go no where near that limit?

  • @AntDX316 No not really, I am no tire expert but I know enough to make a informed decision. Like I said, my riding level and skill is not on a level that warrants using a DOT tire at the track. If I am not probing the limits of a street tire then why do I need to run a DOT? I don't need to.

  • @Pittimus84 because I feel a higher level of sticky tire would not only make u faster and more enjoyable but be a lot safer as well

  • @AntDX316 Possible, just depends on the rider. I am the kind of rider that looks at riding issues more so as the rider's problem over the bike, best tires on the planet are worthless if you cannot ride the bike to make those tires work right. I would much rather work my way up riding skill to the point of ok I know for a fact a Q2 or whatever street tire just cannot handle anymore, then I'll switch to a DOT or something else.

  • @Pittimus84 did u try DOT race tires or u just assume it's on a completely other league than what u were always used to in terms of handleability? I mean it's much harder than u expect or u feel u won't max out the tires enough to justify the cost of spending more on those tires than spending on cheaper?

  • my old shop was the distributor of q2's best tire out there

  • Why wouldn't u use the bridgestone tires on the track ????

  • @GSXRSICKDOUBLEOH I like the Dunlops Q2's over the BT016's, my personal preference after using both on street and track.

  • the dunlop Q2 is a great tire for track and road. i travel everyday to class with these tires(luckily im in florida bcus i treat the road like a track XD) and no other tire has given me better grip along with mileage( last set lasted me about 9200-9300 miles :) )

  • I ended up buying pirreli diablos because they were on sale at cycle gear regret it I should of got a set of Dunlop Q2

  • Sweet, planning on getting this tires before a track day on October :)

  • you shouldnt run warmers on non race tires

  • thanks for the review, those tires were abused and thats proof for me. Just had one question? Does the front tire have the dual compound as well?

Also: did you know your voice sounds exactly like one of the actors from parenthood, if you watch the show you will know who Im talking about.

  • @onerugrat yes the front is dual as well.

  • You said 1 1/2 trackdays only ran warmers on the second day? Planning on these to hold up I'm mid pack advanced rider thinking about running my warmers both days any suggestions what size is your gsxr?

  • @samion33s I don't have a gsxr, I have a yamaha it's a 1000cc. Running wamers every session. You might want to contact dunlop and see what they say about that.

  • That looks like a hot tear

  • @sras2000 That's not hot tearing, it doesn't look like a hot tear, and the psi gain was no where near enough for hot tearing.

20k on some ct2's, I bet the cord on that tires was showing. 9240 miles, still with life, how close to the wear markers are you? Also your on a F4i, and you say you do commuting. Which I am assuming you baby it around 90% of the time or more. I don't commute, I sport ride 95% of the time my bike is a heavy 1000cc bike so I will never get miles like that.

  • @Pittimus84

No not at all. No tearing . I just took it off the other day and have put the new Pilot powers 2CT

  • Guy on cbr forums had michelin pilot ct2's and logged 20k b4 changing them out.. Plus his bike has 200,000+ miles.. same year as my f4i and color

So yeah u can have high mileage if u are not using its full capability. I have Michelin Pilot power CT2 and I have 9240 miles on it currently and still life in the treads. I just normally do my commuting on my F4i and keep the psi at check

  • i wonder what kind of millage would u get on the street with those tires with it being a softer compond i mean if its like everybody else telling me they only 3 to 4000 miles id go broke as iam a everyday rider preety much ive got to be able to get close to 20,000 on a set

  • @kd4ysi 20,000 miles on a set of tires like this???? That will never happen, you need a sport touring and or a touring set of tires, something designed with high miles not sport riding.

  • @Pittimus84 Actually yes 20,000 if you searched for F4i turning 100,000 miles, the rider is on my fb and showed us on his fb and his was almost gone! I changed mine around 13600 miles . 2CT all the way! I was looking to get the Q2 but instead got the 2CT

  • @sras2000, 2CTs will become greasy on the track in hot temps and pushing it hard. They're great for the streets but I'll never use 2CTs on the track again.

  • @Pittimus84 No shit that guy is tripping. However I am a little worried I am going to be spoiled by these and have to go back to the 2CTs because I ride a 955i and I'm fairly heavy on the gas and ride everyday. I know they are softer than the 2CTs for sure, time will tell.

  • I like how you can check a dudes tire after a track day and see how he has his suspension set up.. Looks like you got that FZ set up nice! Nice wear for a 55 profile mate...

  • @r1gester thanks, that's about as good as the stock suspension is gonna get, it's not the best but it's good enough for me. I had made some small adjustments when I was at the track just testing some rebound adjustments on the first day, and I also kept the rear tire pressure at about 34psi hot and the front was around 32-33hot no adjustment there. I have been told by others that used this tire at the track the best is 33hot front and rear.

  • @Pittimus84 Yeah, I may need to go after market soon seeing as I'm about 100kg. But as for the tires, damn that's high, I don't think I've ever ran a rear over 30. Usually about 28 and 30-32 on the front. 34 hot is about what I use on the road in the hills and twisties.. Then again, I haven't has Q2's.. Got some brand new Gpra11's sitting in the garage tho, ready to put on, I get so giddy when I got new tires I like... Can't wait!

  • @r1gester Yeah the Dunlops like higher pressures from what I have read, don't know why but that's what they like, they work very well. I have not used them on the street, but my bridgestones I run at like 32 cold front and 37 cold rear on the street, maybe 38 cold. Just depends on how hot is is going to get that day.

  • Dude I was setup across from you on the R6 and I can completely agree with you on the performance of that tire. I ran a 180 on the back and about 1.5 PSI less front and rear than you did and they did great. For the street, I have zero complaints as long as you don't run over the metal reflectors in the middle of the road while leaned over and is goes without saying, stay off of the wet paint. LOL other than that they feel like any other tire on the street until you get on a track.

  • @1badcrewdawg Hey man, the track community is a small world aint' it lol, I'm sure we will see each other again at the track in the future. But yeah the tires are awesome, I wish I could get a set of Pirelli Corsa Rosso's for free and do a direct comparison between the 2, since those are the 2 best street/track day tires on the market right now IMO from my personal experience and also what I have read.

  • i have my FIRST TRACK DAY...comming up this weekend...ive been to the track once before...which i have footage of on my channel by the way....but i was just watching...this is going to be my first time on the track....im going to taledaga gpr....its pretty cheap track..ill be running the pilot power 2cts...ill do a vid on them...ive got hella butterflies...

  • @Clutchisback1 Cool, take it easy for the first 3 sessions, and learn the track. Also if it's cool outside really take it super super easy at first for the entire first session because cold tires and cold track means low traction. Look at the entire day as a learning session vs trying to run hard since it's your first time to the track. Keep data on your bike, suspension set up, tires pressures, and all that good stuff, and 30front 30 rear cold is the standard pressure starting point.

  • @rolpal619 my first time at the track was May 3rd of this year with Cornerspeed when I did my riding school. I have since done 3 actual track days, and have gained a lot of skill, speed and knowledge of the entire riding theory. It's been quite a learning experience for me since I started. I highly recommend doing a track day and a riding school if you can afford it, but be warned that is opening pandora's box and you will always want to ride the track over and over from then on.

  • @Invisiblepanda it was fun, but it was also my last track day for quite a long time

  • how long have you been doing track dayz? how was the first time like? did you take the lesson first? i wanted to do track dayz one day.

  • depressing... going to be a few years till i get a bike :( looks like your having good fun :)
