when bob dylan sang songs that were written in the voice of a woman he didn't change the gender designations. "...it's been a ruin for many a poor girl and me, oh god i'm one." Rather than changing the nature of the song, a better work would be done by maintaining the original words.

Beautifull song, well sung. Put my wife and older daughter on plane for Grad dress buying trip to Vancouver. Left looking after three kids. Dinner, Swimming, cup cakes for school tomorrow. Philosophy 101: The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I first learned this song in the early Sixties from Ian and Sylvia's "Four Strong Winds" album. They got it from Bob Dylan around that time. Nickel Creek, and YOU, Prosperia, do a fine job with the song. But if you can give Ian and Sylvia's version a listen. It's the foundation for everyong who has sung it in the years since, including Nickel Creek.

Proseperia, you've go a great voice, and you most certainly have the feel for the sorrow about lost love that the lyrics portray. The song is in a very simple 3 Chord progession. As you sing it, is in standard tuning, capoed up to the third fret, played in G, C, D, with a walk down to Em from G changing to C if you like. It's a simple folky alternating thumb base (T from 6th 4th string), leaving you room to embellish with your fingers to pick out the melody and rythym. You can do it!!

Very, very sweet. This is one my favorite old Dylan songs, and most covers of it are simply awful, in my humble opinion. Your sweet, unpretentious rendering of this unbelievably bittersweet, poignant love song left me with tears in my eyes. Thank you.
