@FIamestalker Hate to break it to you but it's impossible to have all human council because the last save of mass effect is done when you start the battle with Saren. So if you did let the council die there will be human led council (Anderson or Udina as chairman) with other council members alien.
When I got this ending, and chose Anderson, I was so expecting Udina to stage some sort of coup in the sequel. He seemed so sad that I didn't let him become the Evil Emperor, but Anderson would make a better puppet king and be less likely to stab me in the back.
And then Shepard dies for two years, meaning that Udina ends up pulling the strings anyway. Fun.
You see, we humans have centuries of experience with letting people bleed so that others can seize power. One nation has been particularly good at it, they're called the Americans. They've let the European powers destroy each other in two pointless wars and only intervened when it looked like one of them might win. They've been calling themselves "the leader of the free world" ever since and if others resent that, they can go frak themselves.
@Winner8501 I'm pretty sure we intervened in World War two right when it seemed like our side was about to lose...
And don't say that Russia was on the brink of defeating The Axis, because a) they could not have without us distracting them b) we disliked a strong Russia more than a strong Germany
The paragon ending beats the renegade one out of the ball park imo. I like Udina getting pissed when you pick Anderson instead of him being "Oh, mhm, good decision."
In my Renegade file I chose Udina rather than Anderson. He oozes douchebaggery after all who else would embody a new human empire, imperalistic and jingoistic than Mr Udina?
@Standuble In my renegade file(My only file), I picked Udina. Anderson is likable, but he's too much of a wimp to do what needs to be done to keep humanity safe.
Fast forward to an ineffective human council with Udina as the head in ME2: :(
@Standuble On the plus side, I don't hate Anderson for being ineffective on the council in ME2; Udina is doing that. So I'm free to personally like Anderson as much as I want.
@DanTheeMan Udina in ME1 strikes me as an extremely overworked diplomat crossed with an anal retentive drill sargeant! Putting him on the council would double his work load.
Plus Anderson is a war leader whilst Udina isn't, I know they have to prepare for peace as much as they need to prepare for war but the biggest catalyst for inviting humanity to the council was because of the Reaper threat. So at the top they need someone who knows how to effectively command and maneuver an entire fleet.
@DanTheeMan Ah on that bit about "inviting humanity to the council" was the logic in the Paragon ending where you save the council :) In my Renegade ending humanity kicked out the old and formed its own council too. But the reasons still apply :)
Letting the council die was simply the most intelligent decision. Holding the fleet back so that sovereign could be destroyed made more sense than anything else.
@dinkydkmg Was it? The geth fleet wouldn't just dissapear. You still need to deal with them and sovereign. Wouldn't it be better to get into the fight while some allies are still alive? If nothing else it gives you the chance to strike while the geth firepower is concentrated elsewhere. Not to mention sovereign is taking control of the citadel - every second counts...
I get the all human council (i'm hoping to become "emperor of the human empire" or something) and choose Anderson as he is not a power hungry xenophobic
@jaden2555 i was pure paragon and im a person that even cant be bad in games still i let them die ... why? there assholes they fail and soldiers are more worth then those failures
Udina: 'We can't be paralyzed by things like DEMOCRACY.' Each play through this game I hate Udina even more. So glad I play Paragon just so I can listen to him whine when I pick Anderson for the human councillor, every time.
I could never bring myself to do this, I'm too nice. Also, destroying the entirety of galactic leadership in one fell swoop seemed to me like a very bad strategic move.
now the REALLY evil thing to do would have ben to save the concil to rub the fact they were wrong in there faces at the cost of lives, that would be evil and agrivatingly annoying :D
This is pretty much what humanity would do if this was to happen hundreds of years from now. We are just as vicious to each other, why else would we be different if we were to ever come in contact with other species, its the only thing we know and do well
So if you let the council die what are the consequences in ME2? When you meet them are they all human or...? And is there any difference if you choose Udina or Anderson in ME2?
Udina is a bitch! Classic politician. At the ending of Mass Effect, Udina is all "the reapers are real! OMG!" and then a weeks later, "Ah yes, Reapers."
@BloodyPooProductions Dude humans ruling the galaxy... uh yeah, we would be fucking screwed. Let's keep our monkey asses out of galactic politcs because we're going to buttfuck everyone.
@rsbandbj1j2j3 I gave them many chances and they ignored me so I did what I had to do sovereign had to die at all costs. The council died because of there ignorance and I was not going to be the one to save them from it. Plus would you rather have humanity at the bottom?. Humanity shall always be in control hate to say it but its the truth actually I don't hate to say it it feels damn good at the top lol.
@xspartanX3x this is just like star trek's mirrior universe where the federation started to take over their part of the galaxy. except sooner or later, the rest of the galaxy shall rebel. unless we build a giant death star ^_^
Wow. Just... WOW. I always save the Council to prove humanity's worth to the Citadel species (even though I know it doesn't account for much), so learning just how much of a greedy power hungry bastard Udina is comes as a surprise.
@Mikester283 Very much since the empire was ruled by human supremacists and would have done the exact same thing if they were the ones sent to attack the Geth and Sovereign. The Empire would have shot the Destiny Ascension out of the sky anyways; to explode it like a giant bomb to take out the Geth. Vader would have sacrificed the Council gladly, considering their not-so pro-human stance.
@Homecountry To rebel against the speech that udina had in expectation that you would buy into his obama speech, and instead chooseing captain anderson, the guy that punched the fuckers lights out...to me thats a renegade action, I like captain anderson and i dislike udina more hes a little bitch and needs to stay that way
@MadMAn12gauge Not really...putting a self-centered, narcissistic, neurotic and power hungry cat on the council is pretty renegade. Putting a goody-two-shoes with a mean right jab is not.
@MadMAn12gauge That would actually make him a good councilor. If someone wants such a job it means they are after it for their own purposes - power, prestige, control, money, etc. The good intentions become lost in personal conflict and desires. You wouldn't have as much of these problems with Anderson because, one, he doesn't care, and two, he's not interested in those things enough to care. So he'll focus on the task at hand and the mission.
After I lost Kaidan, Udina and the Council never said anything to me about that. So I wondered why let the council live and Udina keep his job. I guess there lucky I was going for the paragon.
Wow, I can't believe Udina agreed with Shephard on getting rid of the council thing- when HE was the one who was always trying to shut Shephard up in front of them. xD What a hypocrite.
It makes sense because Udina had to suck up to the Council to gain favor so he had to go against Shepard but the whole time he despised the Council as well. When this chance came, he showed his true colors.
The tone in this one is different from the endings I've had. Is it because you let the council die (bottom left option) or because your Shepard is renegade?
@looker999997 I guess the dialouge option where she says that she wanted to get rid of the council plays a major part in the dark tone of this ending.
LOL, Captain Anderson's shocked reaction at Shepard's coldblooded nature "My God, Shepard!", then Udina talking like he's pure evil like Emperor Palpatine "Don't act so surprised".
new counsel : Shepard: There was only one ship. Prophet of Regret: One? Are you sure? S:Yes. They called it...sovereign. Prophet of Mercy: Why was it not destroyed with the rest of their fleet? S: It fled. But I followed with the ship in my command. Regret: Yet the geth were able to evade your ships, land on the citidel, and desecrate it with their filthy footsteps! Prothet of Truth: You were right to focus your intention on the geth. But this demon...this 'saren... Part 1 post

Yeah, that was pretty f#$%ing evil. I think the angel on my shoulder would kick the crap outta me if I picked this ending, even if it is just a game. lol
I won't spoil much, but basically, the reapers are back, taking human colonies and when Shepard goes to the citadel to ask for help, they simply ignore him and accuse him of having no proof of his claims, they oficially blame the human colony incidents on the Geth, and only Shepard knows the truth, the Council does EVERYTHING to deny the reality of the threat, probably to prevent political shitstorms.
interesting, i would normally have gone for the council ending specially since i always end up with more paragon points but, this ending is much more like it.
I don't think saving the council is really a 'paragon' choice. I saved them because I figured it would get us a spot on the council for sure. I was right.

Yeah, that was pretty f#$%ing evil. I think the angel on my shoulder would kick the crap outta me if I picked this ending, even if it is just a game. lol

@Toggboy
mine would pull a gun at me if I picked this ending but I never do :P

my thoughts: it seems like the old west all over again (the whole manifest destiny thing)
Udina is indeed like palpatine here (even has the human supremicist thing) and the music fits him

Omg shepard looks like a gooback

Udina = palpatine.... maybe?
ALEXplus3 2 years ago 13
Agreed. Udina is an asshole and an evil bastard. I really hope we get to kick his ass in ME3.
Orca8472 2 years ago 6
Jesus Christ! THIS is what I missed by not playing through as a renegade?! Shepard's a psycho! I can't wait!
TheTurboChampion 2 years ago
I didn't save the council because I thought I wouldn't be able to kill Sovereign if I did lol.
Didn't want to lose the war vs reapers :D
Epic game nonetheless
UnicyclistRemi 2 years ago 6
whow....i never thought sovereign theme would fit udina's evil-emperor speech very nicely

Ever seen the South Park episode "Goobacks"?

i just started Mass Effect 2, and believe me, you will regret if you let them alive, they are ungrateful bastards... just like any other politician.
DavetzWin 2 years ago 8
"what more did you expect, from a politician?"
-Shepard
what happens if you let them live? I let them live but i deleted my file, so now i have to go with the default story.
L4ionh4rt 2 years ago
I won't spoil much, but basically, the reapers are back, taking human colonies and when Shepard goes to the citadel to ask for help, they simply ignore him and accuse him of having no proof of his claims, they oficially blame the human colony incidents on the Geth, and only Shepard knows the truth, the Council does EVERYTHING to deny the reality of the threat, probably to prevent political shitstorms.
DavetzWin 2 years ago
ah, i get the picture, thanks :)
L4ionh4rt 2 years ago
I remember that I got this ending, but when I tried to say one thing Paragon, Udina would call me out and call me a vicious monster...

Hail Humanity!!
elmatto 2 years ago 10
interesting, i would normally have gone for the council ending specially since i always end up with more paragon points but, this ending is much more like it.
Klyern 2 years ago
Even you got paragon points all the way through the game, you could still "tactically" abandon the council. It was my case anyway.
Feaisian 2 years ago
I don't think saving the council is really a 'paragon' choice. I saved them because I figured it would get us a spot on the council for sure. I was right.
icetrey87 2 years ago 6
what's that armor you have on?
HELLHILL 2 years ago
@HELLHILL
In Polish version it is called "Kolos", can't remember the corp though.
the best one in game if I'm correct.
NecridPL 2 years ago
@HELLHILL It's the Colossus armor. I had to do a second play through with to get it.
rtCirkus 2 years ago
Colossus armor, the best set in the game, but also the hardest to find. If you have the Pinnacle Station and you complete it, you can order a random tier IX-X item including Master Specter Gear, just save before you order your item.
BlackHawk38 2 years ago
Is this end available in the windows version of the game?
gui197709 2 years ago
i got 100% , killed the council and let udina become the leader. Udina is so much more evil and andersson is a good person :)
Gash1234 2 years ago
That's one of the ugliest shepard's I've ever seen! How could you play the entire game with THAT!!!
