Yes, glue traps are very ineffective to be truthful they take forever to kill the rat and if the rat has its front feet out it can still move about eating things just use snapper traps :(

I won't use conventional snap traps because I seen this happen to a mouse and it suffered-for sure they suffer with glue traps and takes days to die. So I now use humane traps-and I simply take them outside and release them. NO MESS, no fuss and the trap is completely re-useable; in fact I hav been using the same trap for over 10 years. NO pesticides either. It's real easy.

Glue traps cause the animal to practically skin itself alive, it will chew off its limbs to escape, etc. Many who use the trap, just chuck the animal into the bin for it to starve to death and suffer some more. @Chocabloc84 I know what a glue trap does. And from what I've heard those snap traps work 50/50. Currently I'm trying a circular trap that lures the mouse in and snaps its entry behind it, but that hasn't been working too well. (meaning not at all)

@animehobo Instead of relying on gossip, why don't you just try them then? For all we know they'll work perfectly for you. And it's not like a glue trap is infallible either (the animal may still get off it if it is too weak).

A good trap has this design idea in mind: to either capture the animal unharmed, or kill it quickly. Any trap that purposely maims and prolongs the animal's suffering should not even be legal under today's animal cruelty laws. It's common sense + morals.
