Such an excellent voice!! No surprise that this video has had 1.5 million views. I was lsitening to a gerat Italian radio station on-line tonight, and woven into the Italian classic & pop mix they played this song by Englebert... known as L'Ultimo Valzer... Bravo!!
@lilmoondancer20 Engelbert Humperdinck was born Arnold George Dorsey; also known as Engelbert, Gerry Dorsey; on 2 May 1936 (now age 75) in Madras (now Chennai), India :)
amazing voice my mam and dad met to this song.. and i made sure they waltzed away together when they both passed away,, i know they are dancing in heaven..... luv u both lots...xxxxxxxxxx

my mam an dads song...my dad died last nov,,, an now he is waltzing away with my mam in heaven forever.... luv u both miss u soooo much......xxxxxxxxxxxx
@bannanatree His birth name is really Arnold George Dorsey. He took the Humperdinck name as his stage name from the German composer of the same name. The rest, as they say, is history!
I had the pleasure of seeing him perform live in Toronto in the early 80s and let me tell you, this man can belt it out! An amazing voice and this is my favourite song absolutely! Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with all your fans!
I agree with the rap it's garbage music. I would rather hear this wonderful music from the best decades ever the 50's and 60's any day. It's sad that most of these great artist are dead and some are dying now.
I think we have to value all music, no matter what generation we are. We don't have to like everything we hear, but we need to respect musicians and the stories that they are telling. I'm in my 50's and my parents weren't huge fans of the music from the 60s and 70s, the music that I grew up with (5 - 25 years age). What I love about today's youth is the fact that many of them just love the music from my youth - I don't remember feeling the same about my parents's music from their young days.
@CaroleSNewZealand Hi Carole, you are right about this music from the 60's, I fell madly in love with a girl from Auckland NZ "Heather" we sat on Auckland harbour 1966, the night before I had to go back on board my ship, the "Auckland Star" listening to An Otis redding classic, "Sitting on the dock of the Bay" wish I had never caught that ship !
its the fact that music has come a long way since this..the kids of today have been brought up on rap,r&b,dance anthems and indie pop, but its the way of the world ..u ask them to listen to anything like this and they look at you as though u lost your marbles, me myself i would rather listen to this anyday...thank god for youtube otherwise all these classics tunes probably would never be heard of again.i'm 54 and was around when tunes like this was playing on the radio .....TY YOUTUBE...
We married in 1968 and played all his records, the first and the last waltz and I danced every dance at my wedding from waltzs, sambas, foxtrots, rumbas, you name it and loved every moment . I took dance lessons and danced the first and last with my husband. He neglected to learn all the dances. DWTS phone me....
I just saw Engelbert live a few days ago and his voice is still the same. What a handsome man he was in his youth! The show quickly made me wonder what Elvis would have been like if he were still around... He proves good music can pass the test of time!
I had the last waltz with you, two lonely people together. Its all over now, nothing left to say except the Gills in the rainham end singing la,la,la LALALA, LALALALA the Gills
When Musis Was music nothing more can be said except My Husband and I still dance to this 30 years together because the Last Waltz should last forever even when you're standing still
Well, I'm a guy, and consider myself quite manly, but even I found myself falling under his spell, the velvet warbling, showing us his range, before smooth, caressing satin leads to the final stanza.
Even I!
(Cough!)
Well then, what I originally wanted to say...
In the second chapter of the book, "How to Woo Women", E.H. reveals all his many secrets.
In the second chapter.
Because the first chapter belongs to Sean Connery, of course.
Well i was not the only who like this song in 1969 this was my favorite song to dance with my first love we were both young and naive on those days, she was still in university finishing her course i was at sea for officership training, she died in 1974 of Leukemia, i dont know she passed away but i dream of it, those were the days
I suspect that alot of the people leaving nasty comments about today's music were probably the same kids who defended their music when the generation before them didn't like what they heard.
The end song of the song is like an unfinished symphony. Very fitting and great song. I have been to many functions where the band as always played the last waltz has been played like masonic ladies nights.

@RapIsDeadly thats an extremely ignorant mindset you definetly dont listen to rap if you say theres not one good things about it and it glorifies the gutter. dont speak on a music genre if you know nothing about it
This song brings back such memories. My grandfather taught me to waltz to this song when l was about 4 and that was in 1968. I use to stand on his feet whilst he waltzted me around the loungeroom he was 6 foot tall 4 and l thought it was wonderful. xxx
@RapIsDeadly You shouldn't demonize rap, there is some meaningful rap out there. You should have a problem with corporations shoving shit down kids throats. Music is a money making game these days, if you look hard enough there are great artists, just they won't fit in with the main stream. It quite close minded to say that rap is bad. Listen to " Immortal Technique", powerful social commentary through the medium of rap.
@djalkaponemdp hey man i thinks its great you love these kinds of songs. i would love for todays r and b artists to get a shot at these classics. i would hope that they would do an excellent job with these.
@HHH80 I agree. This was before my time but the more I listen to the music of that era the more I'm convinced that the music industry is now in its "dark ages" Everything is so highly produced and artificial. I just love good singing and don't care what my friends listen to or what I'm supposed to like.
What a great way to bring in the New Year-Listening to one of the worlds greatest talents and entertainers! What a voice! What a range! What looks! Beautiful! Englebert, you rock! And you are timeless. What a gift God gave us when He gave us you!
This song was played at my Aunt's wedding and funeral. There couldn't have been a better song choice; Both her and the song are absolutely beautiful. <3
Singers Like this aren't found today in our generation...it was the time when performers really had talent...that can sing and dance...its just so mesmerizing hearing voices like this nowadays...
Just really pleasing to the ears...Cant find any music like this that can really get you on the mood...

Listen to " Immortal Technique", powerful social commentary through the medium of rap.

the 60's, 70's, and 80's can't beat when it comes to music!

@HHH80 I agree. This was before my time but the more I listen to the music of that era the more I'm convinced that the music industry is now in its "dark ages" Everything is so highly produced and artificial. I just love good singing and don't care what my friends listen to or what I'm supposed to like.

This song was played at my Aunt's wedding and funeral. There couldn't have been a better song choice; Both her and the song are absolutely beautiful. <3
