I like how the male anchoir is just a total idiot, really hamming it up, and the co-anchor is sorta trying to reign him in without being making him look dumber.
duh! no, the kid, Falcon, never got in the balloon. The Dad cooked up the scheme and had him hide in an attic or somewhere for the "gasp!" effect on national TV when Falcon was "found". But no one counted on the son giving away the circus when he said "We did this for the show."
Why can't people give the news media a break once in a while? They have to treat each news story, at least "BREAKING NEWS" like it's 100 % authenticated until they know otherwise. They have to at least report all the precautions, and all available information that they have at the time. It's not the media's fault this time, the hoax is on that ass pirate father.
Most news reporters are douchebags, i agree with that. This however wasn't a case of their douchebaggedness, we have to remember when being critical about the news reporters that they are doing little but reporting what other people are telling them to say. They aren't the problem with news media, unless people take their word as the word of a higher authority. They're not, they just spread the word they get.
It's also CNN's job to report the news with accuracy. The father's story was never believable and more suspicion should have been cast on his role in the events from the onset. He has appeared on other television programs; the man had a blatant advantage to being on television, and we should have known it.
You obviously don't understand the concept of "Breaking News" If the news was reported accurately everytime the first time they would have to wait days, weeks, months or even years to get a single story correct. Their job is to report the news with the best available information they can, and do it as unbiased as possible and not to cast suspicion or offer their personal opinion about a news story.
If it doesn't make sense from the beginning, of what excuse does "breaking news" provide? Are you suggesting that CNN is obligated to make as breaking news any ridiculous story a person can scheme up? The man was on television shows in the past. There was precedence for assuming this hoax; no one was blindsided by anything.
Law enforcement did not treat this story as a hoax, i'm sorry that you assumed from the start it was a hoax, you should have reported it to the police and make them know you had the answers. The police treated it like it was authentic, they did the right thing, the media reported the story as it was told to them by the police department. As ridiculous as the story seems, we've seen more strange reality than this hoax,.
Law enforcement shouldn't treat it as a hoax. Their job isn't to report facts accurately. Their job is to enforce the law. Kinda goes with the name, you know? Who woulda guessed?
I have no problem with the police in this case. I fault the news reporters for allowing the same man to make a fool of himself on television repeatedly.
Remove that idiot from the camera, or stop reporting his little stories as "breaking news". I'll accept no other alternative from a news network.
Just because he's a jackass you still cannot just assume it's a hoax. What if they were wrong? Besides being on wife swap how did he "make a fool of himself on television repeatedly". Bottom line is nobody knew it was a hoax, the kid was nowhere to be found, it's a legit concern the police had, so it was reported for what it was known to be.
We don't have to worry about him making a fool again though, he'll be in jail for a few years this time.
@coalreigoncoalcracke I totally agree with the last part of your statement, and talking about reality surpassing fiction, Im considering flying over the border from mexico and into the states in one of these. what do you think? could I make it? be honest.
Sure, the story was pretty sketchy to believe, but it's more important to risk the attention for when the story is fake, rather than risking a life for a true report.
domme amerikanen, hoe lang hebben ze nodig om te weten dat er geen kind in zit,de ballon ligt al minuten op de grond en nog weten ze niet of er een kind in zit ,hoe dom kan je zijn.
I thik this was a big hoax, you could see no basket attached the circular section at the bottom is part of the balloon, I can't believe so many people got fooled. Americas and it's media addiction!
They don't know where he is, well, atleast by what I know, and this comment was on the day this happened so don't start cussing at me calling me an idiot.
