If you want to have higher education then it's a choice not a right. Many people cannot qualify for higher education so please don't refer to it as a right. Also it's not like you have to pay anything up front, you pay it back when you are earning a half decent wage.

I would suggest by far the greatest cost to society in cash terms is the wages and equipment bills to pay for Police action to enforce what is a law against something less toxic than onions, and that damages far fewer people than alcohol
@bluesman979 This is a complete non sequiter, far more people drink alcohol than smoke cannabis, and out of those smokers only a small percentage regularly do. If you were to measure it pro rata then it's probable the health effects of cannabis would dramatically out weigh both alcohol and tobacco.

If you want to have higher education then it's a choice not a right. Many people cannot qualify for higher education so please don't refer to it as a right. As to the legality of cannabis I think in terms of harm reduction it'd be sensible to license sales as they do with alcohol
The bottom line though is that health can't be the main concern, if it were, wouldn't alcohol and tobacco be proscribed under the Dangerous Drugs Act too ?

How does that and the other health problems like alcohol addiction/dependancy rack up against the costs on society cannabis causes ?
I would suggest by far the greatest cost to society in cash terms is the wages and equipment bills to pay for Police action to enforce what is a law against something less toxic than onions, and that damages far fewer people than alcohol
