  • How dare they tamper with the original! It's not the same without the muppets!!!

  • @neilamadhava wocka wocka

  • How come this version is never shown on tv

  • why not available on dvd?

  • Did you know the reason Scrooge hates Fredrick so much is because his mother died giving birth to him then a few years later I think his father got remarried and Scrooge's step- mom gave birth to his sister. His father always rejected him because of his mother's death. Later, his sister died giving birth to Fredrick. Her last words to Scrooge were to take care of her son, but Scrooge fell into his father's shoes.

  • For four years now, I've been watching this specific version of A Christmas Carol on Christmas, and each time I watch it, I become so wrapped in the story. It's incredible.

  • It's amazing how this story, no matter how many times you see it, never loses it's magic.

  • "Business!" cried the Ghost, wringing its hands again. "Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!"

  • Christmas Eve 8;55 PM

  • I love this muvie :)

  • "If I could work my will, Every idiot who goes about with "Merry Christmas on his lips should be boiled in his own pudding, and... and... buried with a stake of holly through his heart!"

I always love how Scrooge equates Christmas cheer with vampirism.

When I first saw the 1970s A Christmas Carol as a kid it scared me, especially the bits with Marley's Ghost, but these days I'd kill for the 1970s A Christmas Carol to be released on Blu-Ray, Marley's screams would give my audio system a workout

  • "If I could work my will, Every idiot who goes about with "Merry Christmas" on his lips should be boiled in his own pudding, and.. and... buried with a stake of holly through his heart!"

I always love how Scrooge equates Christmas cheer with vampirism.

  • 23 December , 10.51PM

  • Friday, 23rd December 2011, 7.30pm

  • I had this on vhs when I was just a tot....ahh memories

  • 6 more days until christmas

  • @MrJustin23dawg lets try a countdown. 5 days till christmas!!

  • Amazing, "A Christmas Carol" is Charles Dickens immortal Christmas classic. I love the animation in this adaption, I'll be watching the rest of this and favoriteing it as I do. I also like that they brought back Alister Simm as Scrooge, I loved him in the original and this shall be no exception, he still is/was Ebenezer Scrooge.

I'm giving this gem as I watch it 4 out of 4 stars.

  • To think I'M going to play Scrooge onstage tomororow night....

  • its just..... 12 more days till christmas!!!!!!!! In Pacific...

  • I actuaaly bought this movie in color from 1950 and it was worth it. Alistar Sim is marvelous! So is Reginald Owen in his version.

  • Does anybody know if this is available on DVD? This is really a classic and I would hope I could add it to my collection.

  • @wahs1984 put it in your playlist and there you go.

  • Christmas in 13 days

  • @khy654 Bah, humbug!!!

  • Christmas in 14 days! Yay.. hah anyone else think his nightgown cap looks a lil bit too much like KKK... :O

  • "Boiled in his own pudding and buried with a stake of holy through his heart".

Woah, when I was kid watching this, I thought that was the most darkest, goriest way to kill someone on Christmas I have ever heard. I am surprised no one has thought of doing that in those "Christmas horror movie" like Santa Sleigh, Black Christmas, or even Jack Frost.

  • Merry christmas everyone!! Classic animated version..watched it as a kid. Brilliant.

  • Seems like people here have seen as many versions of "A Christmas Carol" as I have. At present, I have seen over 31 versions. Yeah, I know, yes I am a geek but I just love this story.

  • Lol I had to watch this a school!

  • 18 more days

  • It's great hearing Alastair Sim as Scrooge once again.

  • This enthralled me as a child in the 70s

  • WOW i completely forgot about this! i was just looking around for patrick stewart's christmas carol and i found this.

  • It has been years since I last saw this version, not having been able to find it. Like every other, it has revised the original story (perhaps for time constraints?), yet there is something about this version I find most enjoyable.

  • It ok

  • I love this film. Tha Alastair Sim film, George C Scott one, Albert Finney musical and the Patrick Stewart ones are my four favourites.

  • I LOOOOVED This as a kid! Haven't seen this since the '70's! They need to release this on DVD!

There are only four version of this that rule in my house:

The movie with Alistar Sim (Scrooge) aka as : A Christmas Carol

This animated version with Alistar Sim again,

The 1970 Musical Version with Albert Finney

The animated version with Mr. Magoo...

    THAT'S IT!

  • @CreativeLib I don't care for the last two you listed, I replace them with the Patrick Stewart and Susan Lucci versions.

  • @cheapcape To each his own...

  • @CreativeLib Yup, I just don't care for musical because they distract you from the story too much. The only one I like is Hair because the music was superb. But I agree the Sim version is the best version of Scrooge.

  • I couldn't keep a straight face at 7:30

  • Thank you for posting this here. This was my late mother's favorite version of Christmas Carol. She loved the drawings! Sigh - its never on tv these days.

  • @dtjesus101

    that's Richard Williams for ya

  • Is this available anywhere for purchase? such a crime that it hasn't been.

  • 5 58 IMA FIREN MAH LAZAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's the the 20th of August. Merry Christmas Everyone! :-)

  • @MacJaxonManOfAction lol...Its the 11th of October, Merry Christmas Everyone!

  • @enmaxus LOL Merry Christmas :-)

  • @MacJaxonManOfAction It's probably closer to Jesus' actual B-Day, so yea. XD

  • @MacJaxonManOfAction "Merry Christmas" Bah, HUMBUG!

  • @MacJaxonManOfAction

    Merry Christmas to you.

  • my school did this play the year that just pased and I was Belinda Cratchit In the play

  • So THAT'S who Jim Carrey's performance as Scrooge was based on! Alastair Sim! They're almost an exact match!

  • @tytoalba451 It's got to be. It's is an exact match. Even Bob Cratchit looks like the one in the 3D version...sort of.

  • What song from the beginning???

  • this can frighten and teach little children

  • This is FKN ART!!! Hollywood can take some serious lessons from this!!!!

  • did anyone else have the tape with the rudolph story and the care bears included with this movie

  • I love this, but I have to admit I first saw this when I was very young and it scared me so bad ;)

  • dickens work is perfect this novel it teaches people not to be rude .

  • Hand drawn animation was quite amazing back in the days.

  • i read the the book can't be too bad.

  • it originally wasn't meant for children. that's probably why the images are more frightening.

  • Fantastic; must see movie...All of the cast seem to just flow together...This movie can be enjoyed by all... check it out for free on cartoonsi.co.cc you won't be sorry

  • This movie was unbelievable! Lots of action.... Great acting..... Romance.... semply genius! definitelly worth seeing... visit cartoonsi.co.cc free movie database

  • The film offers plenty of compare and contrast moments throughout, starting with the very first seconds.... it's extremely interesting...check it out on cartoonsi.co.cc

  • I mean still is cool and eeerrie

  • Gosh this was so cool and eeerrie

  • Maybe offensive, but the truth hurts!! ALWAYS ALWAYS speak the truth!! People can learn from it.

  • @dtjesus101 that's just offensive. there was seriously no freaking need for that horrible comment about kids. this video seriously freaked me out:\

  • @ZiggyStarlet123 I'm offended that you find my comment offensive. Most kids today are morons, for all I know you're one of them, brainwashed and made stupid from the animated garbage out there today.

  • how come lots of people would copy this e.g flintstones. Disney and mickey mouse.

  • 5:57 - 06:00 is really scary.

  • Thank you sooo much for posting this movie. I used to watch it as a kid and haven't been able to find it anywhere. Brought back a lot of great memories. Thank you.

  • 5:10 kkk suit

  • merry christmas from GREECE

  • Merry christmas from Lithuania!

  • merry christmas 4n malaysia!!!

  • @231thinesh malaysia is dangerous.Beware....:3

  • Merry Christmas from Las Vegas!! yo.....

  • Sim's voice is AMAZING!! And some of these scenes are very scary. Its truly an amazing CHRISTmas ghost story! I watched this last year and I'm watching it again this Christmas morning!

  • This is by far the finest version of Dickens' C/C I have ever seen. Always was a holiday favourite of mine. Still gets the message across after all these years.

  • I can never get enough of Christmas movies during the Holiday season

  • I loved this as a kid -- great moody animation, and Alastair Sim!

  • Merry Christmas everyone!!!

  • merry christmas everyone

  • I watch this evry christams to remind me of my childhood, and the reasons.

  • Scrooge's voice kinda reminds me of Edgar from "The Aristocats."

  • is diz movie in 3D

  • i used to watch this every year when i was a child. brings back some wonderful memories ♥ ~ i love this story so much.

  • I've never seen this version and although the voice acting for Scrooge is slow, I really do like the animation. These guys have great expressions. :)

  • Can you get this on DVD?

  • ...What the hell has Scrooge been smoking?

  • @dragzz1 Yeah, I do kinda find the voice over out of touch with the character; especially with such good expressions. I was hoping he'd channel more of Aliester Sim's smugness or Michael Cain's snappishness...he just comes off as, well, as you said, like he's been smoking something. Too mellow - humbug!

  • Alastair Sim is the voice of Scrooge in this version, but he does do a better job in the movie.

  • @gege65 Really? Wow, you'd never know. O__O

  • @elfinstyle I know what you mean he does sound different, I checked it out on the IMDB, and was really shocked that he would even do the cartoon.

  • is there any way to download this video from youtube?

  • Oh god :S Not again!

    Some scenes gives memories :S

    CREEPY

  • I'm doing this play. I'm in the ensamble- wait. Is that how you spell it?

  • There's not one Christmas Carol whether animated or real actors that I don't like. They're all good!

  • Whos hating this vid! It's good so far! Yessh people you might as well hate everything!

  • This is back when animation wasn't dumbed down and made silly for the idiotic mentality of kids today.

  • @dtjesus101 All too true. The modern kids are being turned into wimps and pussies by all the media.

  • @dtjesus101 actually this was made at the height of such an era. This film was the exception, and it was made in Britian, where art is art.

  • @diddymuck I disagree, I saw this movie in my public school back in the 70s, before Disney started putting out all it's garbage, and the Saturday cartoons had some intelligence to them.

  • @dtjesus101 This was after that, Unless you mean the shit on the disney channel and stuff

  • @dtjesus101 exactly

  • omg I remember this one! This used to be on a Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer tape I got as a kid for Christmas and even though it creeped me out it still was one of the best Christmas Carol adaptions I have seen :D

  • rocks very good work

  • 6:01 ROFLMAO

  • God rest ye Gerry Mentalmen as we used to say as kids. Thanks for posting!

  • Can someone explain to me why Tiny Tim would die just because he is a Cripple?? I don't quite understand that. I know a lot of people who can't walk and there is no real threat to their life becasue of it. I don't mean to read so much into a story but why would Tiny Tim die just becasue he can't walk well??

  • @Dimaline312000 Tiny Tim is crippled as a result of an ongoing(and unspecified) illness.Whatever disease he had started out by rendering the victim too weak to walk properly, and as time went by,without treatment,it would leave the victim dead.As you know at the end of the story,Tiny Tim makes a full recovery ONLY because Scrooge foots the hospital bill.Cratchett was too poor to afford even the most menial medicine;in those days even the common cold could spread and lead to severe side effects.

  • @Bbardo Mmm What kind of illness could crippled the kid and then leads him to a secure dead? Maybe a neurological disease? A virus that gets into his spine? Too much dramatic stuff i think, but What real life can show about those situations! There are people who couldnt buy the most simple pill against a flu..whom doesnt have any resource to face terrible situations.... :( But, what could we do? Dont know..these are the eternal facts of life :(

  • @seekingnewhorizons I always thought that given it was the Victorian Era and they were lower class that the boy was the victim of a severe vitamin defientecy that made his leg disfigured, and he was sick because of mal-nourishment. But that was what my theory on it

  • I remember watching this animated version on TV in the late 70's - it made an indelible impression on me and drew me in to Dicken's original work, which I love. This production showed the great potential of animating serious literature, a potential that never came to be realized There have been several worthy adaptations of A CHRISTMAS CAROL since this one, each one with its own merits in bringing out something worthwhile from the original story, but this one is excellent.

  • This is the first version I remember and, to me, it is still the definitive (after the book of course). I hadn't seen it in many years and had forgotten how beautiful the artwork is. Thanks for posting.

  • scrooge was also a strong advocate for the kkk :)

  • Oh my gosh... this Marley's ghost is kinda creepy.. o.o

  • "Xmas is Christmas, without the Christ. Don't X him out!" I loveee Christmas! :D This is my first time watching this movie, I like it lol (I wrote a story about Christmas on my channel, check it out!) =D

  • Thanks for posting this version. I personally think Marley should be this disturbing, if not more so, in every version. The mouth so abnormally agape, and the intensity of his voice, *need* to be frightening, because he comes bearing vital and life-saving reprimand. God certainly used Dickens for many years after his passing, with this story(and many others).

  • what is the song at the beggining?

  • @luvmissu19 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. It's my favorite carol next to O come all ye faithful and O holy night. Merry Christmas!

  • @luvmissu19 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

  • 6:00 Holy crap, I knew there was something from this cartoon that scared me.

  • @MissGenius3847 I know! It used to scare me when I'd watch it as a child. Scrooge's house is like a haunted house in this version. I have this on VHS, but I wish it was out on DVD for a decent price.

  • 5:12 no wonder Scrooge is such a dick, he's in the KKK =/

  • Way better than the new one.

  • 20 people are ebenezer scrooge duplicates

  • Does anyone know where you can purchase this DVD ? I remember watching this on TV, every Holiday Season as a kid. Best animated version ever !

  • @Mastophales I'd buy it in a second if it was out on DVD, it's strange that the Alister Sim and George C Scott Christmas Carol films have just been released on Blu-Ray but that this classic animated movie wasn't ever even released on VHS :(

  • Does anyone know where you can purchase this DVD ? Best animated version ever !

  • HOLY CHRIST IS DAT SUM SCARY GHOST

  • @N30K4L little different from the Muppets version eh =) i dunno whether Statler and Waldorf would do much to scare me into changing my ways, but this ghost? damn O.o
