3:22 "Life carries on "EVEN" when I'm not there"...now that's a "humble"statement...;] Mick could've used some of Meher Baba (O'Riley's) spiritual master classes.
i find it funny that this wasn't even released as asingle in the UK, it didn't even chart, eyt was Number 1 in Australia and New Zealand.. weird?!?!, i used to love this song when i was 10
@jamespage1680 I was 16 when this was big in Australia. Ratcat's 'That Ain't Bad' Johnny Diesel's 'Tip of My Tongue' .....the sweet, lovely memories of it all! Saw Diesel perform live acoustic a couple of years ago. What an enduring aussie talent. Can't say the same for Ratcat. But, back to UK talent. Who can ever forget EMF & 'Unbelievable.' Big in Aus...Very big.
@lcerider no when i type in the lyrics nothing comes up i had to find the song name to get there. if they put the lyrics in the description it would turn up in the search results
This could have been a good song, unfortunately the band ruined it by starting it off with the intro to an unarguably better song, Deep Purple's 'Child In Time,' and then having that annoying 'rhythm and melody' crap in the middle. If they'd cut those bits out it would've been good. Oh well.
this track was used for a car ad in australia in the early 2000s, i've had a blank and can't remember what car/manufacturer. can anyone help? i think it's mitsubishi
@spozguy Mick Jones is a huge Who fan; he sampled "I Can't Explain" in Contact and, yeah, that's the sample from Baba O'Riley at 1:27. But I'd say it's sampling, not stealing. Presumably, money changed hands.
@Hortelan ...yeah I know what you mean. I´m trying to get as far away as possible from all the MTV/top 40 crap and what do I run into??? VEVO shoving wifebeater Chris Brown under a BAD video. Bollocks!!
@klausekilgore shut up he looks awsome your a dork but im being a little bit of dick here so my bad cause your intitled to your opinion. i however disagre and would never question a his decision making and ya his styles not for everyone i love it
I believe this was meant for Joe after being fired. Really listen to the words deeply. Its like a kid that got kicked out of the house at 18. Still genius.
this song has been my favorite song since i was about 8 years old going on 21 still my favorite and trying to make songs somewhere as witty and creative as this one. I love you Big Audio Dynamite

I think the bit of the song from 1:50 to 2:50 completely ruins what would be one of my favourite songs ever. There's no point to it.

This tune incorporates several different styles, Pop, Ska, New Wave and Punk. It worked out as planned, a one hit wonder.
SirPranceALotable 2 years ago
@SirPranceALotable B.I.G had at least three hits. These are the things, the Globe, and Rush
kemicon 2 years ago
You correct Kemicon however this was their first and last tune to incorporate Pop, Ska, New Wave and ever so slightly Punk.
"Bottom Line" is their best tune I believe, not this one. Just my opinion though.
