My God!!!! what will man not do to these animals to make a buck. This is shameful and should be banned it is not natural and extremely cruel. Legs and feet are the most important part a horse and these people are ruining them just for their own entertainment and to make money out of them. It is a disgusting process. They obviously don't care about the horse so long as they get what they want. They should be charged with wonton cruelty. SHAMEFUL.

This kind of stuff happens in other breeds also people! It's not just TWHs that get abused! I'm not saying it's okay, because it's not! Also, Not ALL TWHs are padded, shown & ridden in pads! I have 4 & have had as many as 7 at a time! Never have put pads on Any I've owned. I've got some good stock here too! Had a direct daughter of Ebony's Time Around! I kept her son & daughter because they have Excellent pedigrees! Ebony's Time Around should have been a World Grand Champion padded horse!

Cont. from my other post: MONEY kept "Time Around" out of the show ring on the final night! Do some research & you'll find it was the only time in TWH Celebration history, there was basically a riot, over "Time Around" being turned away, not allowed to enter the ring! Someone PAID dqp's to keep him Out of the show ring! They're all in it for the money! Not love of the horses! Owners, trainers, dqp's & the rest of them in the shows are all about money & bragging! Why I've never shown & never will

the horse is the only animal that man nails iron to its feet. Yet the mechanics of the hoof are stronger than that of a dog, cat, camel, elephant - all made of the same components but without the extra support of the horny outer wall.

This is outright abuse. This kind of treatment is out of the dark ages born of complete ignorance.

Hurting defenseless animals is about as cowardly and low as you can get. Show me a person who sores horses, and I'm sure it will be some major trailer trash. Sad thing is, this abuse will continue until the industry gets EXTREMELY tough on violators. They are still not being tough enough.

Isn't it sad how those who are in the thick of it will hear first-hand evidence and STILL won't admit there's a problem? I truly believe that until we remove pads, bands, chains, and the like from the show ring, then these horses will continue to be abused due to ignorance and self-righteousness. We are dealing with a society that is ingrained and immune to abuse. It's high time their access to abuse is shut down.

@katphoti I totally agree. It needs to stop in all breeds. Tennessee Walkers are the worst I've ever seen, but Saddlebreds, morgans and Arabs use toewgihts and pads as well.

These people are stupid. They grow a long toe so they will have more reach and heigth, which does not hurt them! The angle to the package does not hurt their joints. Horses that are foundered or have a navicular problem have a wedge placed on a keg shoe to relieve the pressure on their foot, which is the same wedge angle of a padded horse. These horses are built to carry weight and there are horses that are 20+ years that have shown since they were 2 and don't have joint problems.
