Even as a European, i'm glad to see Schaffer do this. For years I have been an Iced Earth fan, and in Europe it's basically the same system as far as the Federal Reserve goes. For a couple of years I have to admit i didn't quite like the fact of Jon seeming like sort of a "blind trust" patriot, and am happy to be proven wrong. Despite all this i never truely lost my respect for jon Schaffer, and now this aforementioned respect has only grown.

Certainly the giants like Priest, Maiden, Manowar, Saxon, Sabbath with Dio as well as less fortunate ones like Heavy Load, Blood Feast, Sabbat (from Japan), Sortilege, H Bomb, Raven, Holocaust, Helstar, Whiplash, Razor, Candlemass, Cloven Hoof, Baron Rojo, Griffin, Maninnya Blade and so on.

CC play Eat The Corpse NOT Metal.

you may get shocked but I also consider Deicide Eat The Corpse. However there were some real Death Metal bands like early Morbid Angel, Entombed, Nocturnus, Asphyx or Pestilence but most of these from Florida did not sound metal.

There are still few good bands today like Slough Feg, Superchrist, StrikeMaster and the ones I released: Metalucifer, Metal Inquisitor, Skullview but they play this traditional Metal like in the 80s

I don't need to complain about Deicide or any other band. Some here were writing that I didn't like Death Metal bands when I wrote Cannibal Corpse didn't play Metal. So it isn't just the lyrical content but also the sound and style of playing and when the first Deicide came out I threw it out ina garbage after 2 or times I listened to it. I thought it would be like Morbid Angel, Necrovore or Possessed.

I don't remember all the fucking bands he recorded and I think he even did one of the Coroners, no? So no he's not 100% unMetal but all these Suffocations, Deicdes were landing in my trash can or were flying out the window after one or two listens. Nasty Savage had nothing to do with Death Metal. They bridged classic Heavy Metal with Thrash/Speed. I'm also not too big on these math Metal bands although I did go see Atheist in 1990 or 91 when they opened for Candlemass. Fuck I'm going to bed!

They are excellent Musicians and this new project is pretty good. Megadeth, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Ministry, Muse, Pink Floyd have been singing about the NWO for years. Canibal Corpse is what you call Death Metal, I like it all :)

No. Iced Earth are average musicians but not talented composers. Their live shows are also pretty weak. I didn't know Slayer touched on that subject but I did stop listening to them after I South of Heaven. There were bands in the 70s and early 80s that sang about this stuff but of course an average "metal fan" doesn't give a shit about the lyrics and philosophy behind it. They just want to have a good time.

Look I'm not here to bash the band. I already wrote that I give them respect. There is no point for anyone to argue with me. I may not be an expert on lots of things but I am an expert on Metal. I'm glad that a well known band joined us but there were many way before Iced Earth that carried our president's message (Priest, Heavy Load, Sabbath, Dio, Master to name a few).

Either way maybe this awakening will serve Iced Earth members and from now on they may just surprise me :)

I would say matt, brent, and the bass player are more than average musicians. Jon schaffer is a better writer, then he is a guitar player. Matt has a 4 octave range, brent is insane, and the bass player is just wow, look them up on all of their merits instead of being a douche bag. I listen to folk and bluegrass to death metal.
