As you say, you're just a kid; airsoft is first and foremost a SPORT. And thus, the guns are used as SPORTS equipment. For starters, you can be fairly safe in the knowlege you won't kill someone with an airsoft pistol/AEG if you happen to pull the trigger - and in matches you're allowed to use said equipment. Real Guns in comparison should be used in Military/Hunting/Policing and only as a last resort. They are weapons, and thusly should be treated as such.
I'm very sorry that the majority of all law abiding citizens of the world have to pretend to be able to defend their rights and their families with this kind useless junk. It's almost like Airsoft is fulfilling some sort of subconscious false security substitute. Take your $300.00 and print out a few thousand right to bare arms flyers and hand them out instead of spending it on some metal and plastic communist made false ego boosting toy.
reenactment isn't just all about acting like you're "defending your rights". It is about pretending, yes, but this is WWII!!! WWII is long gone dude!!! I haven't seen any German Wermacht divisions marching around Rodeo Drive lately!! It's about the history and we take ideas from it. Also, the way I think of it, airsoft is the fake war and paintball is the fake power rangers, LOL. JK I like paintball too.
api9mm - airsoft weapons are not viewed as a protection device, I certainly don't think of my M1911 that way and I hope that anyone else with airsoft guns thinks that way to. And if I protect myself, I'd rather use a fake gun rather than risk blowing someone's head off with a real one. As for it being made in China - stop living in the 1960s and advance a few decades - communist they are in constitution, but red they ain't. Go waste your right to bear arms prattle somewhere else.
