I don't think Disney has ever depicted a war scene as gruesomely and as realistically to general audiences like between 0:00-2:20. And at 0:50, you know for a fact that the little girl, the owner of the doll, is dead. The looks of the soldier's faces when they observe the thousands of bodies littering the landscape, totally realistic. What the hell happened Disney? This is the kind of film that conveys more humanity than any film I've ever seen Disney make.
if i am not wrong, in total war it sates that the huns have the best mounted horse archers and cavalry, so those troops were at so much of a disadvantage and yet they still won.
8:58 I think we all know who the real hero in this situation is... Whoever made that magic unbreakable rope. Seriously, someone needs to mass produce that shit.
I adore the silence at around 4:42. Not enough films these days utilize the power of silence.
Then you see the smoke goes away, Shan Yu revealed himself atop the hill, his army gradually fill the horizon, truly an "oh yeah, wait, oh shit" moment. As the Hun army descended it was a pleasant (and thrilling) surprise that there were FAR more men than it appeared to be, ready to trample faces.
@Darklordjohnson I TOTALLY agree, this scene is on par with the epic battle scenes in the first Pirates of the Caribbean and the first two Chronicles of Narnia films.
@NBE21 i remember when i saw this movie and after it, i would always say that, if i was going from one side of the pool to the other i would say" if i die, i die with honor". haha.
@CoolChick111100 Yeah i know that but If they fill it with blood totally then they might put a bad influence for the kids. Because ya know it can't be that bloody and violent~ ^^;
No, she gets patched up and brought back to a camp site where the soldiers then find out shes female and leave her on the mountain alone, mulan then sees 5-6 huns are alive including the leader, mulan then sets out after shang toward the emperors palace, in order to save china
They keep changing the number of soldiers, I could have sworn there were at least twenty in the troop :/ Oh well, seeing the charge scene in theaters was freakin' EPIC, I'll remember it forever :)
Do you remember wanting to run through the plains of Africa with Simba? Swing through the jungle with Tarzan? Go to the enchanted castle with Belle? Go to the ball with Cinderella? Ride a magic carpet with Aladdin? Save China with Mulan?Shrink to toy size to play with Buzz and Woody? Turn into mer-people and go under the sea with Ariel?
If you do or want Disney to bring back movies like this re-post this comment maybe the Disney Corporation will see it and get their heads on straight
China should have a huge army due to their population, in Mulan it make them like China has an army of only a couple of hundreds, while the huns are thousands.
5:51 I like the way that viewpoint looks. It's very intense and gets the adrenaline pumping, seeing a huge army on horseback charging towards you down a hill.
Hmm. In movies it always seems that the viewers love both the heroes and the villains. The heroes prevail, yes, as they should. But you can't help but feel a bit of the temptation to join the seemingly more powerful side, eh? Or maybe I'm just a twisted psychopath... but I always liked Darth Vader, the epic charge of the Huns, the epic charge of the Wildebeest in Lion King (Recycled from Mulan, no doubt.), the marching of the evil hyenas during "Be Prepared." Maybe I'm just crazy, or tired.
@wkunzelman1 don't worry, Darth Vader become good again on the end, and anyway, some of us would like to be near those "evil" people so we can turn them away from "the Dark side"... :)
@wkunzelman1 Don't worry, you're not psychotic. There's always something that makes it enjoyable to cheer for the villains as well. Part of it has to do with how cool the darkside seems to be in certain ways. After all, you can't have a worthy hero, without a worthy villain.
It may be just me, but to me the English version sounds so emotionless, especially when compared to the Finnish dub I'm used to. At least back then Finns knew how to voice act. I'm looking at youuuu, Digimon dubs! *long suffering sigh*
@filipamd no doubt! I still remember seeing this back when it came out, and I used to remember dreaming what it would be like to be from his pov with the army and charging down on them. Most EPIC disney scene probably!
