He is gorgeous, i have a red and gold halfmoon, not the same but still as pretty, lol. Yer like some other people said, u should breed him.

I got mine from petsmart, and as soon as I put her in my aquarium I set up for her, she went from translucent periwinkle (washed out light purple), to an amazing dark, dark black with a touch of irridescent blue on the tips of her tail.

I think it is the lack of ammonia, and a higher pH from our well water (almost 8.2). She's very happy. She has an ova, so I know she's a she. :-)

Unfortunately stable cylunder tanks are hard to find and expensive. That one fractured. He's in a 5 gallon small tank now.

Hmmm.. It might not be powerful enough for other fish, and you shouldn't add a more powerful filter in case, as you say it does, is too strong for the Betta.

It's a Red Sea Deco Art Nano Filter. It's a little HOB filter for tanks up to 3 US gallons.

I bought hin at 3 months old. He was already mostly grown. He had a lot of clear rays in his fins when he was young, now they are white.

Beautiful Betta. Lovely finnage and the colourings are superb. I do like the cylindrical tank shape, but because there's not back wall or anywhere where they can hide and not be viewed, does he get stressed at all?

What's the volume of the tank and does he have any other fish in the tank with him? I'd like to see the whole tank if you have any other films.... hee hee.

He is in a new tank now because that one developed a stress fracture. But he was fine in the cylinder tank. Sometimes he would lay in the midst of a few leaves. Most of the time I was in the room he would follow me to watch, wherever I was.

The cylinder was about 6 US gallons, filled to about 4 gallons. Now he has a 5.5 US Gallon tank filled to 5 gallons.

He is a solo fish. He seems to be quite happy by himself.

You could have a few dwarf Corydoras with him, and I'm sure he'd be fine with them, but of course that's your decision.

That's a thought. But the nano filter on his new setup may not be moving enough water for more fish. His fins are so long he's a bit hopeless in any current.
