:) all it does is tell you there is some radioactive decay. it doesnt give you any numbers, hence it is useless and rather a toy then an instrument....
dude your in chernobyl near priprat where reactor 4 blew up and dispersed over 12,000 rads!! anything in/ made in chernobyl is going to be radioative!!!!
cud any1 tell me if 54 click thing per min is dangourus?? cos i was testing my tritium keyring on a geiger counter 2day in physics and it came up with 54 clicks, backround was 16 so 38 extra per min
And yeah its safe to have it.. you could rather die on eating a piece of pizza than dying from gadges like tritium cloaks/rings/alarm clocks etc etc...
Else would had never been made.. still the radtion affects you.. but if you are a scared nerd just dont wear it hell.. I am drinking lots of alcohol since about 6 years,my doctor said he never seen such an alcohol wasted lifer in that age,and I keep drinking, cuz I could day any second anyways, lol.
how much does a geiger counter cost? because i have a uranium mine near my city and i'd like to take a visit and i don't want just to go there and die if u understand me .. nice vid :D
I love the DSRB-01 but mine has shorting issues. Do you know anything that might help? I plan on opening it up tomorrow for the second time actually and taking a look. The parts are likely German but the wiring and assembly takes place in Russia, which, no offense to Russians, pretty much explains it. It just doesn't receive power and make the whirring noise unless you bang it around a bit.
At least some of the components, like the ic and transistors are russian.
I opened up mine to get rid of the damn irritating high frequency noise they make,
just sprayed the transformer coil with pcb acrylic lacquer, worked like a charm - now I can have it on without getting a headache :)
One thing I noticed was the powerswitch is really crappy designed, thats probably where your intermittent connection is, you can adjust the tension on the spring if you open it up...
I think you might be right on that too as it seemed a little suspicious to me on my first poke-around in there. But it seems like the culprit was the wiring around the battery connectors... It could just be a coincidence that when I opened it up and moved the wires around, I also moved some parts of the power switch which made it functional again for a little while. I'm gonna open it in a few hours and see what's wrong.
Thanks though, for the noise tip too... although that whirring is the only way I can tell if it's on and working properly at the moment :]
I also noticed I have a slightly different model than yours (maybe newer, I haven't had mine for more than 3 years). The only visible difference is it doesn't have any colour on it other than the Kvarts logo. It's just all black.
Not a good idea going into a uranium mine, as its filled with radon gas, a radioactive gas, that comes from decaying radium, a decay product of uranium. And you would be inhaling that radioactive gas.
going into a uranium mine with one of these detectors is a BAD idea. Uranium decays into radon which emits alpha radiation. Inhale that stuff and you are in trouble. This geiger counter will not pick it up.
It fails to penetrate paper, let alone the human body. But you can be effected by it being absorbed through an open cut, ingesting it, and inhaling them up close
Ceramics are radio active duh.

It's true it doesn't give you a number since it lacks a display, but the rest of the hardware is just the same...
In fact the Si-180g geiger-müller tube is very sensitive.
But as it's just an audible signal it basically just tells you if it's low-medium-or high radiation,
which is why I hooked it up to a counter to get an exact reading watch?v=DiClMWv1Qoc

Looks like there is only one DRSB-01 on ebay today, though it's expensive... $44.
When I bought mine there was an abundance of DRSB-01's and they went for $20....

hello, can you please tell me where you bought this from? i cannot find it anywhere. and i really want to buy one.

not a sticker a packet of something with radiation
dogboy867 1 year ago
@dogboy867 Why would there be?
They used uranium oxides in the good ol' days to give a nice yellow-orange color,
just look up Fiestaware or my other videos z4lvYwU6rdM and DiClMWv1Qoc for another test...

No,that for sure isnt healthy but you would require 10 times of the amout of that to kill you over time or infest you with the radiation illness.
500 +- Roentgen meter per second re deadly.
OkThxBye1 2 years ago
so its safe to have around in my pocket then? it wont give me cancer will it? cos i really dont want cancer lol

you get more radiation exposure from salt substitute you can buy at walmart.

It's totally fine, that's only 10 CPM more than in my room normally anyway. You'll be fine carrying it in your pocket or whatever.

I belive this one was $25 on ebay, ships directly from russia...
There's a smaller one, I belive its called DRSB-88, do _not_ buy that one, this one is much more sensitive....

Oh yes it is, they used Uranium for coloring in the old days....
It's only the red glaze thats radioactive - not the blue/green color.
