It's time to end this argument once and for all. The joke was made at a roast. Absolutely NOTHING is off limits at a roast. There's no topic that can't be made fun of. If the guy just mentioned Owen in general, that's one thing. I mean, I've read and heard that Owen had a reputation for being a clown. So, making a joke about his characters, moves, etc....that's okay.

i'm from Calgary, Alberta where the Hart family lived. I met Owen on many occasions as he was a friend of the family. Owen was a GREAT man and i'm saddened every day about what happened to him. Scott Hall really took things waaaay too far that night. Yes, he was right doing what he did, initially. But he (as usual) let the bottle do the talking for him and carried it way too far and for way too long. Whatever you think about the joke or roasts in general, think about this, Owen Hart has been remembered more in the past 48 hours than he has in years! Remember wrestling, comedy and roasts are all forms of entertainment! There is no such thing as bad publicity! By the way Scott Hall hid in a stall in the bathroom from the cops! (It was rumored he had to flush something other than his career!)

I don't see why Scott's drinking problem has become such an issue amongst the comments as if just because he has a problem makes what he did any less valid. He stood up for a dear friend and out of all those people in the room he was the only one with enough guts to do the right thing and tell the "comedian" where to go. His " joke" was disgusting, tasteless and just because it was a roast should not be given freeway. Scott Hall did the right thing in my opinion.

Hall was just sticking up for one his mates, who tragically died in 1999. Owen was a family man who worked hard on the road so his family could have a good life...he did not take drugs, steroids and like Hall said other wrestlers who have died had virtually did it "through their own hands" ....kick the comedians and Iron Sheiks ass next time Hall!!!!

As a former worker in the industry and a LONG time fan of both the Hart family and Hall's, I am dumbfounded that any1 stopped and didnt infact join in. For anyone questioning his actions just imagine your friend being killed and some punk comedian making jokes about it. If you didnt do something along the line of Hall's actions I would question your friendship. If this would have been done around the crowd i used to wrestle with this punk wouldn't have had a chance to run to the press.

Hall was way out of line and embarrassed himself. For anyone to defend his actions is mind-boggling. I am not going to assume he was under the influence even though his actions and appearance hint that he was, but you have a 50-year-old man gesturing to his crotch and publically swearing and berating everyone in his path, and people are congratulating him? How can you pat someone like this on the back? To see Hall in this condition is sad. This guy is a disaster and needs help.

I agree completely with Hall, I can remember the day that Owen died, I felt like I had lost a member of my family. Hearing what that comedian said brought up a lot of sadness. And, if I had had a few drinks and then heard what he said I would've wanted to beat the crap outta him too! So right on Scott! Now as far as you guys justifying it with the Jimmy Kimmel comment. That was also a tasteless comment. And as we were all taught as children two wrongs don't make a right. RIP Owen & the Benoits.

I am with Hall, but I think its funny that he called the other guy classless after he did what he did. I think he should have kept his cool and just confronted him after the roast. Double standards, I'm afraid to say. People can make jokes about Warrior or Hogan's steroid use, the Benoit murder situation or any number of things, and all of pro wrestling's dirty laundry, accidental or otherwise is in the public domain and fair game.
Should the comedian have made that joke? No. Should the other people there have booed it? Yes. Should Scott Hall have done what he did? No, but he could've said it calmer and come off not looking as he did.
All round, it was a bad thing.

Yeah, triplex, every person who goes to rehab kicks whatever they were there for. Give the guy a break. He probably beats himself up over his addictions more than you ever could, so get off his back. Comedian Ryan Maher, who was at the roast, posted a blog on MySpace talking about what happened at the show. According to Maher, Hall got pissed off after Graham said, When the Iron Sheik got pulled over and arrested on the Jersey Turnpike his career fell harder and faster then Owen Hart.

Hall's situation is tragic, and it sucks to see him drinking again but this is one time he was right. Owen's death was terrible, defending him is only just. It does make me sad to see no one else defending him although I didn't see anyone that worked with him that much on the videos other than Hall, though I know King Kong Bundy was a family friend and worked with Stu and Shieky Baby's been around forever so I'm sure he knew him too. Either way, it was tasteless and Hall was drunk, but right.

Either A) suck it up like a big boy or B) discuss it with the person AFTER the show is over. If the problem persists, then protest and account your previous protest publicly.

I was there. Scott wasn't defending anything. He was falling down, piss-your-pants drunk and was acting like a public menace. He started heckling the comedian way before the Owen remark even happened, and threatened everyone in the room, including security, Bill Apter, and King Kong Bundy, before he was removed. Don't waste any praise on this guy.

i'm from Calgary, Alberta where the Hart family lived. I met Owen on many occasions as he was a friend of the family. Owen was a GREAT man and i'm saddened every day about what happened to him. What that comedian said was absolutely tasteless and crude and had no place saying it. Scott Hall has had his share of problems over the years but i completely respect for standing up for Owen's legacy! Good on you man!! Owen was incredible! RIP Owen! We all loved you

Scott Hall really took things waaaay too far that night. Yes, he was right doing what he did, initially. But he (as usual) let the bottle do the talking for him and carried it way too far and for way too long. If he would have just let it go after he said what he did on the mic, he wouldn't have looked nearly as bad as he did.

Surprisingly lucid and honest comments by Scott there, obviously only from one person`s point of view (drunk at the time probably didn`t help matters) but I think he was right about the comments being in bad taste (yes I know it was a roast but the man is dead and died in a horrible accident leaving wife and kids home alone) but wrong in the way he acted on it.
