your playing the drums rong if you hold it with your legs and tilt it so the bottom is not flat on the floor i think the drum will sound better then just a thug sound

@vivitar45 This workshop was a schoolhour workshop. I am aprofesional musician and I know what you meant, but for the kids it is difficult to hold it. They kwnow it, I explained it to them in my introduction. as the time is not in our side, for them to feel comfortabel and enjoy the workshop I told them to put it on the floor.
Can I know who you are? are you a musician or a percussionist? Thank you for the comment.
