  • Regardless, the band reflects a positive image on the Corps. In desert Storm, the band that passed through with us was a heavy machine gun platoon as well.

Anyway, after spending the fourth in Savannah, the had Army NG bands there. They played in camo t-shirts and shorts. They sounded good, but remember seeing Marine bands playing, all in Charlies when out in the public. A Sgt. Major would have had a cow.

  • With all of that, you're still a pouge. The stupid dumb 0311 infantrymen in the Marines have been the back bone of the Marines since 10 November 1775 ! So what if you can shoot, PFT , blow the ass tuba, out rank or whatever....Or been to all them non hostile trips blowing your flute or marching.. At lest at the end of the day, since I'm an stupid infantry 0311 I know what me and my friends have done. Served ,fought, and died and have not been going on fancy liberty spots blowing things!

  • @panzerhund0311 You don't deserve the title of United States Marine if you think it is ever ok to insult fellow Marines like you have. Every program in the United States Marine Corp is crucial to the overall success of the corp. I am not a Marine yet, but I know that when I do become a Marine I'm not going to disrespect a fellow Marine and try to say that he or she is not a "REAL MARINE". In spite of everything you have said I would still like to thank you and all military for your service.

  • Ur skill and job can be taught to anybody with a as about score of 32. My job and skill has to he audition before boot camp and takes years to perfect and years to develop.

  • Regardless of what I do ( I'm part of The Commandants Own at 8th and I barracks where i see the dumbest and laziest 0311's patroling the barracks.), I prob out shoot and rank u. I have a 6th award expert rifle and 2nd award pistol, 1 class pft and cft sinces bootcamp, NAM, meritorious service commendation medal, and Picked up SSgt at 5 and a half years. I've also played and traveled to Guam, tonga, Samoa, Thailand, Japan, Australia, Mongolia and Cambodia. What have u done?

  • I added link in the info of the video of Band Members who have gone overseas.

  • @panzerhund0311 Ur a idiot. I know plenty of Band Members who have 1. gone to Iraq and Afghanistan and been shot and almost blowed up and 2. i know a few who have gotten blowed up or nearly killed. Many who have received Purple Hearts and saved many lives in the process.

  • @timerecstudio Yeah, right....cause 9811 is a real combat MOS! What ever pouge. Go play your skinflute and your ass tuba. Leave the combat to the INFANTRY! I'm glad I joined the Marines to be a REAL MARINE, Infantry Marines are the only real Marines...the rest of the Marine Corps is just support. Thanks for playing the bull crap change of command ceremonies and boot camp graduations...someone needs to do it..

  • really? how so?

  • @timerecstudio.... Seriously? How so that the band aren't pouges? Last time I checked, I never seen a band member humping a rifle in Afghanistan or in Iraq! Not all Marines are seeing combat...Many may go over seas, but some may NEVER leave a FOB or airbase! Let me know of any Marine Band members who have been killed in combat!? Its the Infantry and all the other combat MOS Marines who are fighting wars and winning battles!

  • POUGES

  • where are the bellhop uniforms LOL

  • Drummers are beast

  • U. S. Marines playing Japanese snare drums! At least the quad drummer is playing English made Premier!

  • @drumgrey915 Remember, the DoD purchases everything from the lowest bidder! Besides, those drums were probably seized when we beat Japan in WWII :)

  • @drumgrey915 Perl - top choice of Middle Schools. =/

  • This is a pretty good band but the drum solo is NOT a military cadence. A military drum line should have snare drums and bass drums and that's all. Cadences like this one sound like a high school or college band. This is just my opinion and I'm not a bona fide conductor or director. Good job, overall.

  • at 1:53..she wasn't looking at the music........

  • @1949man when your that good you dont need to

  • Sgt Roman with an elbow scratch at 0:22...Nasty McNast.

  • It's time to return to snare drums, bass drums and cymbals. Enough of this hollow log pounding tribal drumming.

  • #WIN

  • what a disgrace..

why is it that the corps allow fat females..

  • @999Thip Id be careful what you say man! She could probably beat your ass out of your mouth!

  • @Whitout1 you know , you might be right..

    thanks for the heads up,

    your a great american..

  • @999Thip fuck you dude you aint a Marine.

  • @wasupsquare yea sure, tell that to uncle sam--

  • I hope you all realize he itched when the drum major gave the command adjust... it's allowed, and perfectly fine.

  • NOW! THAT is more LIKE it!!! GO MARINES!!! On behalf of my great-nephew...

Cpl. Jared A Lundy, stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA!

WE are PROUD to be a MARINE Family!!!

  • performing with folios is embarrassing.

  • tenor player=amazing

  • @maptlbh Do shut up.

  • @XylussN Be my guest: Shut up, shutten-up. And GO!

  • 2:38 till the end that drumline is jaw dropping amazing

  • I served 25 proud years in the U.S.Army , but I have great respect for our Marines !

This is a super sharp band and i have never seen a Marine band that was not top-knotch ! Great drumming , too !

  • I didn't think scratching was allowed at Paris Island.

  • @Brett27560

    Whatsmore, he's a SSGT.

  • Save the smart ass attitude for something else. Thanks.

  • When I was there they didn't allow it.

  • @Brett27560 haha I saw that too, and it wasn't allowed in my son's platoon, I don't think that my son would have been happy playing in the Marine band, he enjoyed killing bad guys in Iraq too much! The band was awesome at boot camp graduation, just can't think of it as a satisfying MOS

  • @fuge000 the weapon of the USMC band is morale... and when used properly it can become a devastating force... Inspiring Marines to go into a battle anywhere any time... and no i was not in the band... just inspired a few times...

  • The Marine Corp Bands are the best of all the branches of the U.S. Military.

    OOH-RAHH !!

  • i saw them live

  • Bravo ! Drummers have practiced

such that a mistake is just not

    going to happen. S/F DD's !

  • niceee drum solo

  • Its not for that song, itsfor the other 4 songs we had to play after thunderer.

  • yeah i usually memorize a song from playing it so much but im just middle school. i especially memorize pep music cuz its the most fun to play

  • @slikrok593

Why do all Americans think it's unprofessional to read from music while on parade? For instance, the Guards bands in the UK play an astonishing amount of different marches everyday whilst on parade, this would make it impossible to memorise every note for every march.

When have you seen members of an orchestra play without sheet music?

To put it short, it's just there to guide the player, a guideline, and in no way a sign of unprofessionalism.

  • @emptyangel

Couldn't of said it better myself.

  • @emptyangel When I was in high school, I was in my school's marching band. We would perform at football games during halftime with absolutely no sheet music at all. It's really not hard to do if you dedicated a few hours a day. I would do it measure by measure. Memorizing one, then the next, and then all the way from the beginning, and then memorize the next measure, then play from the begginning again. We did this because it frees your eyes to focus on other things like precise alignment.

  • @slikrok593 Actually, conductors change little things from time to time and the musicians who play it, often make notations to remember the arrangements! For the most part, they do have them committed to memory!

  • our high school played this song but is not that fun

  • how was this bad? it was a classic performance, I just didn't like that one guy's scratching an itch

that's a small infractions on bearing

  • I remember playing this in band

  • the lyers ruin it for me

    but they are amazing :D

  • the bass guy is slicing on bass!!! how the fuck?

  • LOL he isn't very poised i admit.

  • Trumpets Rule!!!!

  • No, it should be

    "Trumpets Own!!!!"

  • that was awesomeee! Whats so impressive, is that the drumline came in right in time when the conductor was behind them.... wow!

  • YOU DIG!!!!

  • Most high schools have a good enough sense of rhythm to do that but when u combine some of the worlds best percussionists into one band you get a real good show lol

  • haha exactly what i was thinking, wish i was there!

  • Not really. Its basic march concept. You put your foot down in time with the music. What is impressive is that most of those players weren't looking at their music and they were able to do many things most people wouldn't be able to do. Then again, military bands are trained beyond the average person.

  • this drum solo part is great=]

  • Could anyone please let me know what it is that is attached to the back of their belts?

  • It is a "pouch" They keep their music and any other things they may need! Once the pre-ceremony concert is done, their music is memorized so they don't need it! Plus the lyres and flip folders are very bulky and awkward for certain instruments (clarinet was mine). I tried to memorize as much music as I could when I was playing!

  • drumming while at attention not being able to move ur head except for choreography ... that is not easy

  • Wanted to add that the Drumline is completely amazing and they carry these guys and save the performance.

  • Listen, if high school kids can memorize 25 minutes worth of marching band music the marine corps can't handle one Sousa march? This looks terribly unprofessional because of the portable stands. Sounds great, however.

  • they have to focus more on being marines then being musicians, which is why they dont have time to memorize all that music.

  • If you look at their eyes, most of them aren't looking at the music. The music sheets are a standard by the Marine Corps for the band.

  • HOOOOORAH

  • awesome!!!

  • MERCY!!!

  • What an amazing sound out of a small drumline! Incredible quad playing!

  • Perfect sounding drumline. Perfect snare bass, and of course quads. I love the sound of the quads. They're not too high. They're perfect.

  • Ditto. Actually, those are quints, lol.

  • quads quints same dif, but thanks for agreeing, don't you wish all bands tuned there QUINTS this way? Plz reply!!!

  • Great Job Marine Corp Drumline. You all are the originators of all Corp Style Drumlines and Marching Bands in the world.

  • OUTSTANDING DYNAMICS. This was refreshing after watching endless vids of band with 200+ members including massive drumlines.

    Semper Fi!

  • I played this along with Semper Fidelis in the Jazz Jublie parade with wilson c. riles middle school marching band and I am joining the USMC and we played just as well as they did.

  • let's try no.

  • Wow. I've heard better bands play. But the drum solos make it amazing. My part is the counter-melody in the part after the intro. Btw, go altos and tenors!!!

  • John Philip Sousa was, is, and will always be America's Bandmaster.

  • sexy!:D

  • nice drumb solo

  • wonderful! i love love love the thunderer and parris island marine band does it so perfectly! great job guys!

  • As a trombone player, I wish the audio had picked up the brass a little more clearly, but there's no such thing as a poor rendition of this Sousa classic. Beautiful work, Marines.

  • Semper Fi drumline!

  • Man...I could listen to those drums all day. The rest of the band is great, too!
