  • love this when i am feeling gay you big puffs its just good music

  • This would make me sick in a very good way on enough acid.

  • Reminds me of having sex with Audrey, in the grass, in the rain.

    A beautiful photograph.

  • Nostalgia ripples up and down my back.

  • this song has a very abstract but nonetheless effective composition

  • It was in Paris drawing spaces in my heart!!!...Rain is always a good word.

  • probably my 2nd fav from these guys.. loved Shakes.

  • more than 25 years and ever so good

  • awesome, perfects, loe this songs

  • 4:58!

  • Tones "Night Music" has been a mainstay for me through phases of music. In my opinion, it is a masterwork. Daniel Ash, bless you for doing this. and ntival, Thanks!

  • @riverrockgarden I couldn't agree more, "Night Music" has been a mainstay for me as well. It's carried me through some difficult times through the decades.

  • The perfect song

  • Music is a high within itself. I remember crowd surfing , not even stoned at Pearl Jam, STP, and Nirvana, (I was 13) and I got more high offf of the experience then off of the other shit people try to push. Writing it gives you even more of a relaxed feeling.....you feel at peace;I guess it would depend on what you were into.

  • @SaraFShirazi how old are you now?

  • @SSEanBarr 32... Why do you ask?

  • One of my favorite songs ever

  • have to scroll down not to show the video, IM AT WORK!

  • man, nothing wrong with enjoying this song with some psychedelic help. It's great either way!

  • i would like it much better if they summerized part 0:00 - 3:30 into 0:30 - 0:45 seconds cuz i had no idea this had a complete change to the song until i considered watching the whole thing....

(im trying to not diss the song its great!)

  • i would like this more if it was better :)

  • philocybe cubensis definitely makes this one to put on repeat on your CD player-or in my college days tech an LP.Yes,it's a repeater anyway, the mind can travel with a stout dose and music designed for it.

  • L&R was a f**king joke. The fall from Tones on tail should have killed D.A. & K.H....Shame, shame, shame.

  • Tones on tail - by far the best thing to have come out of the early 80s scene.

words canot describe how awesome they are :)

Its a shame they didnt do a few more albums.........

  • This is great! Really great and iconic,

  • This song made me cry the first time I heard it 25+ years ago and I am crying listening to it now. Just simply amazing.

  • great track. i used to sit in my closet and smoke weed when i was like 19 and listen to it everyday before i went to work at Mc donalds ha ha

  • I've been a big fan of this band since I first herd them. Most people never herd of Tones On Tail. Too bad they only really did one album's worth of material.

  • This has the incredible keyboard sound that Tones On Tail was known for...at least by me.

  • perfect visuals

  • God, what a song. Who makes music like this anymore? Love the lyrics, love Tones on Tail. That's probably what I miss the most about the 80s. Profound, artful lyrics, along with musical brilliance.

  • There needs to be something better than "LIKE" for this song.

  • To our ever-spinning blue marble in space, you've given me one hell of a ride.

Muchos gracias, viel danken, and thanks for letting me hitch a ride.

  • really nicely done video to match a brilliant song. bravo!

  • shocked

  • Brilliant song.

  • There are plenty of phallic symbols in this vid.,but plenty of sapphic references also.

For instance, the artsy female nudes, but the calla lillies.

    Not that that bothers me,as I'm male.Hehehe,LOL.

  • Oh darn,I got a -2 rating on my comments,I'm so torn apart. Heh!!

Try being pronounced dead once, and see how much you care after the doctors get lucky and figure out how to fix you, after more poking and prodding than you can stand, and being hospitalized for two weeks.

Happy motoring, and regards to all, regardless of your opinions.

  • wisesatyr72-God I'd hope so.I know everyone's enttitled to their own opinion, but DePeche Mode is probably barely capable of doing 'roadie' work for T.O.T.

  • haaaaaa haa....good one.

  • I like this better than Depeche Mode

  • @wisesatyr72

Depeche Mode is a little bit different to Tones On tail.

  • I'll be cremated upon death(yes I'm old enough to think of these things).

I want everybody to sit down,my urn on display, then have this song played.

    When it's over,everybody can leave.

The typical funeral is a load of horse sh**,as is embalming and caskets.

I'm sorry, but they'll rot just as fast as the non-embalmed.You learn these things as a biology major in college(about 22 years ago).

  • That's a great visual. I can see it...the somber masses of the witnesses of your life gathering in silence, staring at the floor and walls, or perhaps occasionally at one another, completely contemplative if not a bit perplexed...the wordless ceremony marking your passing in a mere 8.5 minutes...what a bold statement. Talk about a memory maker--that would truly immortalize you in the minds of all in attendance. You could have them all videotaped during the song, and then play it at the wake...

  • I hear you love. I used to go to sleep to this song in High School on my Walkman! It's actually hard to listen too now. It brings back soooo many memories. Ah, TOT. brilliant!

  • @tdoesntmatter - I used to smoke a fattie,or have some psilocybes or acid, and end up on my college dorm couch, headphones on,I was lucky to have the room to myself.

Anyway,We're probably close in age, because I worked about 4 years before I went to college.

But,I think I know what you mean about memories!

I personally feel that letting stuff come to the surface,memory-wise,is the best policy,by far.

  • A pair of tits and a halloween music, not good.

  • Is the Picture at 2:39 a neck.? Head would be bent back.

  • Yes, it's a Man Ray photo.

  • yeah It looks like a neck, I was wondering too, it almost looks phallic, probably supposed to.

  • Yes,because bats can.Their wings are covered by skin, not "felt" like a butterfly.

  • Can vampires fly with their wings soaked?

  • Yes but only when soaked in blood.

  • TOT Ruled, so did L n R and B.

  • whoa what a blast from the past. Haven't heard this since college, 20 years ago. Sounds amazing still.

  • It's so fascinating for me to know that there exists people that create this sort of music and capture those sort of photographs.

  • Excelent music. Excelent pictures.

  • Love this band... Shows how much talent Danial Ash and Kevin Haskins have. Kinda wish David J was with them on this band but, thats Bauhaus and Love Rockets are for...

  • thank you for posting this - nice to see some moody images set to this masterpiece of sonic melancholy

  • ♥ their muzik

  • This is one of those songs that makes you truly appreciate music and feel good about the creations of man

  • this is exactly how I feel when it Rains......

  • amazing group. found them recently and glad i did!

  • toptastic saw them at the BIERKELLER in Leeds everyone screaming for Dark Entries we got Slice Of Life lol

  • I feel so lucky to have known and know this music still! I forgot that I loved this song so very much.....very much my own personal times.

  • I only remembered that I owned a cassette of this album when I was clearing out the attic the other day... It's up there with the first This Mortal Coil album as far as I am concerned... Must see if it's available on CD... a 'must buy' ace stuff xxx

  • If you want Tones on Tail on CD, there is a release entitled "Everything", which is true to its name. It includes the Pop album on one disc and all the a&b-side singles on a second disc. An amazing collection from beginning to end!

  • Probably the most often played song on my stereo system in the 80's. And it still stands the test of time. Along with everything else that they did back in the day - even through the early L&L years up until Earth.Sun.Moon (a great release!) after which they really let fame get to their bloated heads with the song So Alive and the lousy album that went along with it. When you put that up against a song like The Rain, there's just nooo comparison. An interesting photo shoot btw.. fits the mood..

  • ay, ay says me, one of the best songs ever

  • hear! here! ;-)

The next in line must be the extended version of Performance (followed by Shakes which is a further extension of the same song ;)

Then followed closely by Real Life... well, I think all these songs are pretty much equal.

And Lions has the catchiest phrase..

and then of course the best dance song ever ~ GO!

    pure genius ;)

  • oh and how could i forget Christian Says!!!

  • haunted (when the minutes drag) is my ultimate fav

  • well that's getting into their L&R phase, but yeah, a most excellent song ;) The entire 7th Dream album was a masterpiece.

  • 7th dream is my favorite album of all time

  • I simpy adore this song!

  • picture it..coming home from clubbing pissed and happy...collapsing on bed with earphones on and 'pop' on the turntable, awake next morn, earphones still half on, turntable clicking, bangin head, an still in me leathers!

  • got this on vinyl

  • Feburary 9, 2009, Southern California, 4:00 am it's raining outside at this very mometn, I'm listening to this wonderful song while listen to the gentle rain fall out side. A thing of beauty I feel. Nice pics, you should of had some movie maker effects to give the video a bit more *umph* in my opinion, not bad though.

  • excellent scenario. a perfect situation. thank you for describing it.

  • Realmente me transporta a no sé dónde.Esto si es buena música.

  • Ah. My all-time favorite mood piece. Indescribably moving. Thanks for posting. ~G

  • Aaaahh, blotter acid and damp spring daybreak 1987; this is my life.

  • One of the most melancholy, unsettling, moody things ever. Didn't know the name of it, my local station played it. Finally found it. Thanks.

  • I could use some acid with this

  • @Locust1313 When you listen to this you shouldn't need acid. Plus listening to ToT is (probably) a lot safer!

  • @MisAnnThorpe

No, acid makes it much better. The best times of my whole life, were listening to this while tripping.

  • i want to makey love to my woman to this one.

  • couldnt find this years ago...technology kicks ass

  • One of my favourites. thanx

  • loveliness

  • cool!!

  • Thxs!

  • I love this song, I love this band! Thanks!!!

  • Beautifully done, really feeling the song. Who are you?
