As far as COF go, people need to remember that they were around in the early days and were contemporaries of the second wave bands. Dani was, at least in the early nineties, highly regarded in the black metal world and there's even a story about Faust confessing to Dani about murdering a man in a park in Oslo before he was arrested. @Djentard oh well the first blackmetal i listened to were bands like dark funeral, dimmu borgir, abigail williams, belphegor, cradle of filth, well thats what i considered black metal anyways. so i always thought that if a band sounded dark and sinister, and had a satanist theme and filled with endless blastbeats n shit, then it was blackmetal. but now im learning that blackmetal is more of an atmospheric type of thing than anything else. idk. i still consider it all blackmetal, just dif styles

Blastbeats do make an athmospheric sound, i have to say, and yes, black metal is about athmosphere + aggression.

I think its funny how people try to place something like a copyright on BM from Norway. If youve inspired a generation to play the same style of music or to take inspiration from it to create something of their own, you should be honored by that, not pissed off.
