thanks. This issue is really a no brainer, how whole system is so corrupt and bad,its amazing this system is actully legal and allowed. I am honestly shocked!!!
On top of that this healthcare public "option" is estimated to cost 800 billion, add that to the budget deficit of 1.3 trillion, the stimulus bill for 800 billion, the omnibus bill for 300 billion and pretty soon your talking serious money.
Look though, it won't add to the deficit though,if everyone pays their share via taxes. The problem I have with private insurance companies is, they can at any time, deny your treatment,or refuse to pay or simple kick you out of the coverage.
You are NOT safe with a private insurance, thus, people get bankrupt and lose homes etc. Do you know, people who are in debt and had to file bankuptcy are folks who had insurance? our insurance companies need to be strickly regulated.
That is simply not true. Due to cost concerns the insurance companies do not cover every illness under the sun, that is correct, but they also outline what is and is not covered in your policy when you sign. I would be for legislation that clarified what was covered in your policy and even legislation outlawing pharma bonuses to doctors, but there is not way our big, bulky, inefficient government will provide the same level of care for the same price.
No disrespect or whatever,i respect your opinion, but you are completely wrong and I do not blame you for that, because you do not know any different.I do, i lived in germany and france,so it does work
In respect to insurance companies in the US,they are out to make profit, and they are not regulated one single bit, thats why they can refuse payment even on something they say they'll cover. Why do you think, profit is not allowed in any other country,as far dealing with humans health goes?
I know for a fact that their are for profit insurance companies in Germany as well as France. Ive talked to dozens of Germans who have supplemental private insurance (and pay nearly 400 euros a month for it) to cover what is not covered under their own plan. How do insurance companies make a profit? By keeping costs down and raising premiums. If the insurance companies have competition there is only so high that they can raise the premiums before customers leave the company, thus they are
Wrong, univesal healthcare is paid in germany by income taxes shared by the employer and the employee half and half.
Watch my video I created about Germanys healthcare under "doctors for universalhealthcare" I lived in germany and all private insurance in germany does,is make sure and garantees you to be seen by head chief physician at the hospital,to always have a private room, to select your own specialist, instead another Dr doing it...even then, all and everything is covered 100%.
As for the war in both Iraq and Afghanistan, tens of millions of people are now liberated from a totalitarian regime where murder and rape was just a fact of life. Both wars costs well over a billion dollars (try 600 billion in the past 8 years). But that is still less than Obama has spent more money to build bridges and pay off ACORN for his election win with his 787 BILLION dollar stimulus bill. Not to mention the Omnibus bill that was riddled with earmarks.
The problem in our country is, and I always hate to explain this, because it makes me realize, how dumb and uneducated americans are about this issue. Insurance companies, are not to care for your health,an Insurance Companies only GOAL is to make profit, just like car insurance, their goal is,for you to make your monthly payments & hoping u will never ever have an accident, thus, you keep paying & they never have to pay for you. Same with Health, the differencemif u get cancer, they'll refuse to pay
Health care companies are very clear about what is covered in their policy and what isnt. Wouldnt it make since that health insurance companies would want to keep their patients healthy to keep costs down?
are u sure they are very clear???? have u read your policiy yet, better yet have u seen it????
I am a RN in Ohio and trust me...99% of the folks who have insurance,do not know shit..people think they are covered for breast cancer, tumors etc...to find out, they are not. Do u realize, with government run healthcare,we wouldn't have to worry anymore. I have BCBS from my employer, tthe minute this public option is outhere,i'll switch.
Why healthcare is based on where you work,is wicked to begin with
Yes I have read my policy, along with every other legal document that I sign, what ever happened to personal accountability in this country?
One of two things are going to happen with this public "option". Either the government is going to run this like every other insurance company and not cover every procedure under the sun, or the government is going to cover everything and the program will run tremendous deficits. Dont hold your breathe on the public option.
I have no idea who you are, but I garantee you,if your health insurance is based on your current employment, you do not nothing whats covered and what not.All you know is the basic.Got cha, because a employer based healthinsurance policy is NEVER givin to the actual employee. You keep saying deficit. What part of Taxes going to pay for it don't you get?....and if you were so worried about the deficit,I guess you should have open your mouth, when we spent 1 billion on a war to kill people.
Employees who have health insurance still HAVE TO SIGN the health care policy. If you didnt read over the policy when you signed it you can go to your local insurance office and obtain a copy (I know because Ive done this). I know they are going to raise our taxes to pay for the deficit, but why should they? If they just have tort reform, allow people to purchase insurance across state lines, and make healthcare mandatory you will accomplish the same thing.
National health spending is expected to reach $2.5 trillion in 2009, accounting for 17.6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). By 2018, national health care expenditures are expected to reach $4.4 trillion—more than double 2007 spending. (Sitka)
The Republicans and or Obama plan, is just more of the same. Plenty of profit for the greedy pharmaceuticals and the health care companies. We should model a European Plan, is just 10% of their GDP & we'll save 1 Trillion dollars a year.
This is the kind of Doctor, you do not wanna have as your own doctor,as you can tell,he is a crook and ONLY out for the money...listen to his words, with private insurance,he can make more money,meaning...they can charge whatever the fuck they want..with the government run healthcare choice,a a doctors x ray,mri is controled and set...so a physician and insurance company will not be able to charge a patient whatever they want.....problem is doctors in the US make way more money, and treat less
Excatly, that cock sucking, money sucking doctor, what a fool.
And too all you fools out there with no education and knowledge.
If the government is sooo bad,and so miserable of doing things, why in the hell are the private profit makin insurance companies sooooo worried, most citizens will switch to the government public optionI mean,if the government does things soo badly...why then be worried???? dumb fucks. Government health care, will no rip us off,or deny treatment, insurance companies do
Government will not deny treatment? Surely we cant afford to give everyone every procedure they want for free. The reason everyone is scared of the govt plan is because it WILL (just like Amtrak, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Postal Service, etc etc) run a deficit each and every year that it operates. How can private healthcare companies afford to compete with a company that can afford to lose money every year. With the annual deficit govt care will be cheap and everyone will switch.
Kungfoo, look dude. Why do you keep saying Free. Like in any other intelligent, civilized caring nation, besides us of course.Universal Health Care is provided to everyone, for any illness, any procedure free of out of pocket charge,How is it paid for and financed? by tax,by paying taxes....thats how it would work. Private inurance companies can not compete? do you realize, maybe private profit making insurance companies shouldn't run a healthcare based insurance? no other nation allows that!
muratshawn to quote a brilliant man "YOU LIE!". The notion that private health insurance is not allowed is a complete lie and shows you ignorance on this issue. Private insurance is commonly used by citizens of other countries to pay for things such as dental care, cancer treatment, and high risk procedures such as hip replacement in the elderly that is usually not covered by public insurance.
Bush "Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax GIve it to my buddies and to the NWO" Obama "Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax Tax GIve it to my buddies and to the NWO" Change we can believe in!
If I thought for one second that a vote for socialism would cause everybody who thinks like Gratzer and acts like Gratzer to leave this country forever, I'd vote for it.
What an arrogant, disgusting, sickening little puke he is. Is there any way that he can be deported? He is fouling American soil.
Would anyone care to know who provides financial support to the Manhattan Institute of which David Gratzer is representing?
Answer:
- CIGNA Corporation, a private healthcare concern
- Bristol-Myers Squibb, a pharmaceutical corporation
David Gratzer is a young policy shill who was quickly promoted to senior fellow due to his ability to tow the line for private healthcare. He offered a industry scripted argument based on pseudo-calculations and got a verbal smackdown from Dennis Kucinich.
@logtype47 blah blah blah. Same old bullshit unsupported by any studies about "funding." WHO THE HELL CARES! Prove to me the funding actually influenced their decision. Don't you nincompoops ever consider that maybe it's the other way around, that perhaps certain interests give money b/c the individual or group AGREES with them, regardless of original funding? come on, dude. People don't just wantonly give money randomly to folks they don't know for sure support their cause. It's bogus.
@whoo689 IT's such a fucking tired argument from the left. "Oh, look at who funds him", as if somehow that makes them ENTIRELY beholden to the paymasters. gimme a break. I'm sure the Manhattan Institute could just as well find funding WITHOUT a lot of the corporations giving them money. Hell, Cato and Independent Institutes, for example, do NOT have the majority of their funding from corporate (believe it or not), although it is a large percentage.
@whoo689 You don't give money to someone who could potentially stab you in the back in the near future. You give money to someone who supports your cause for a long time to come, left or right.
I could go on about how much Big Labor supports Obama. But I have a lot more decency than to just assume funding makes him beholden. Obama was already pro-union long before he ran for president. Money does not automatically make one beholden. Sometimes it can, but most times no.
@whoo689 And let's not forget those who could get HC but opt not to at the moment b/c they're healthy or very healthy and don't really need it.
Besides, there is some correlation between the rise of HC costs and the amount that insurance covers compared to copay percentages. Insurance companies insure WAY too much, even for basic shit like checkups. They should mainly focus on catastrophic shit. HSAs are also a good way to save up for basic shit.
@whoo689 I have no doubt that the public option would've been BAD "competition." After all, it's gov't run. Gov't is not LEGALLY obligated to balance its books. It can run deficits, unlike private firms. I mean look at Amtrak. Gov't firms can ask the treasury for more money, like the post office. They can do all sorts of shit private firms cannot. That gives them a totally unfair advantage. That's not what competition is about. REAL competition is a level playing field.
@whoo689 And yet, the public option would NOT be held accountable for violating antitrust laws. No gov't firm or program has, as far as I know. Even fucking unions aren't susceptible to antitrust regulations. Unless we had it in writing, in the actual bill itself, that the public option would've been exempt from all those special gov't privileges, it would be a disaster.
@whoo689 The sad thing is how all these liberals and Democrats think that introducing a GOVERNMENT program is "competition", while ignoring the LACK OF competition in the state markets of insurance thanks to regulators and politicians keeping it down. I mean, do you realize how costly it is to run a health insurance firm?? Part of that has to do with the TREMENDOUS amount of shit that one has to cover for each patient. The "minimum" in and of itself is pretty "cadillac". i mean come on.
@whoo689 Why don't the Dems open their eyes to actually inducing PRIVATE competition by OPENING THE NATIONAL MARKET?? Repeal McCarran-Ferguson, for crying out loud. Allow for an interstate insurance market where ANYONE can buy it from any state in the country. We allow it for any other insurance. Why not HC?
But of course, the regulators and liberal "experts' claim that will open us up to a "race to the bottom" in coverage. right... that old canard? It's hypothetical fear-based bs.
@whoo689 And btw, why the hell can't we just TRUST healthcare consumers to make the best decisions ON THEIR OWN if we just let them have access to the right information?? They make rational decisions in every other market they buy shit from. Why wouldn't it work for HC? It works fine in Switzerland, where everyone is required to buy coverage. I mean, it's a disgrace that consumers know so little about how much non-insurance HC costs. Let them KNOW!
@whoo689 It's amazing how many people will latch onto that bullshit 47 million figure without actually looking into it further. When you do, you find out that quite a few, perhaps as many as 1/2 or 3/5ths (or more) are NOT in any major danger. Many of them are simply uninsured b/c they're going in and out of jobs. They'll get a job relatively soon and get insurance again. Most of the uninsured don't stay w/o insurance for more than half a year. It's not some chronic problem.
@whoo689 If you take a snapshot of the uninsured and then take another one a year later, you'll find a COMPLETELY different group of people. Quite a few of them, also, are folks who ARE eligible for things like Medicaid or SCHIP but have yet to register. Quite a few are illegal aliens (which may be significant to point out if u don't think they deserve insurance). And many of them make 50 grand, 75 grand OR more, and could probably afford at least minimum coverage.
@logtype47 And besides, why the fuck does it matter who funds someone who argues a particular position? It DOESN'T necessarily mean he's arguing FOR that interest. They just both agree on the same basic principles. I don't see any reason to doubt Dr. Gratzer's honesty and think that he's beholden to insurance. I see no reason to doubt that he really believes in free market healthcare. Attack him on THOSE points. Don't attack the messenger with bullshit about funding. that does nothing.
@logtype47 Dr. Gratzer is a moron. Why would Medicare need to be "capitalized"? It is backed up by the US government. Medicare works better than private insurance and all it need is to have the corporate welfare taken out of it, and pay doctors a little better. Only a idiot cant see that a single payer not for profit system would be more cost effective and provide for better health care
In Canada 90 - 95 % of significant injuries & insurance interests are deliberately misdiagnosed & not treated or compensated. @FIXWCBCANADA you are fuck up-better sell home to pay the cost than to wait 1 month or even 3 months? think moron 5yrs? 100 doctors?.Where did you took those numbers?
Rangel did everything but change this kid's diaper, powder his ass & send him home! Gratzer is a serious part of the problem in US healthcare today! Next time you spend any time in the hospital, ask for an itemized bill and hold onto your socks! They have codes that are used to be able to bill several times for the same procedure by doing it in incriments, and medical facilities are schooled in how to use them. They also use terms like "advanced pain alleviation device: $25"...for an ASPIRIN.
I'm very disappointed with Rangel. This is the kind of behavior that just makes me think politicians should not be allowed to spend too much time in office. He has to appreciate the immediacy of the problem of hundreds of thousands of sick uninsured Americans. The time for coddling right-wing propagandists like this douche is over.
This bit about Medicare reimbursements being 'price controls' that impoverish the poor doctors...it's revolting. Gratzer's clearly a social darwinist child of privilege--the kind of person who made guillotines seem reasonable.

That is simply not true. Due to cost concerns the insurance companies do not cover every illness under the sun, that is correct, but they also outline what is and is not covered in your policy when you sign. I would be for legislation that clarified what was covered in your policy and even legislation outlawing pharma bonuses to doctors, but there is not way our big, bulky, inefficient government will provide the same level of care for the same price.
kungfoochicken08 2 years ago
No disrespect or whatever,i respect your opinion, but you are completely wrong and I do not blame you for that, because you do not know any different.I do, i lived in germany and france,so it does work
In respect to insurance companies in the US,they are out to make profit, and they are not regulated one single bit, thats why they can refuse payment even on something they say they'll cover. Why do you think, profit is not allowed in any other country,as far dealing with humans health goes?
muratshawn 2 years ago
I know for a fact that their are for profit insurance companies in Germany as well as France. Ive talked to dozens of Germans who have supplemental private insurance (and pay nearly 400 euros a month for it) to cover what is not covered under their own plan. How do insurance companies make a profit? By keeping costs down and raising premiums. If the insurance companies have competition there is only so high that they can raise the premiums before customers leave the company, thus they are
kungfoochicken08 2 years ago

Not to mention the Omnibus bill that was riddled with earmarks.
kungfoochicken08 2 years ago
The problem in our country is, and I always hate to explain this, because it makes me realize, how dumb and uneducated americans are about this issue. Insurance companies, are not to care for your health,an Insurance Companies only GOAL is to make profit, just like car insurance, their goal is,for you to make your monthly payments & hoping u will never ever have an accident, thus, you keep paying & they never have to pay for you. Same with Health, the differencemif u get cancer, they'll refuse to pay
muratshawn 2 years ago
Health care companies are very clear about what is covered in their policy and what isnt. Wouldnt it make since that health insurance companies would want to keep their patients healthy to keep costs down?
kungfoochicken08 2 years ago
are u sure they are very clear???? have u read your policiy yet, better yet have u seen it????
I am a RN in Ohio and trust me...99% of the folks who have insurance,do not know shit..people think they are covered for breast cancer, tumors etc...to find out, they are not. Do u realize, with government run healthcare,we wouldn't have to worry anymore. I have BCBS from my employer, tthe minute this public option is outhere,i'll switch.
Why healthcare is based on where you work,is wicked to begin with
muratshawn 2 years ago
Yes I have read my policy, along with every other legal document that I sign, what ever happened to personal accountability in this country?
One of two things are going to happen with this public "option". Either the government is going to run this like every other insurance company and not cover every procedure under the sun, or the government is going to cover everything and the program will run tremendous deficits. Dont hold your breathe on the public option.
kungfoochicken08 2 years ago
I have no idea who you are, but I garantee you,if your health insurance is based on your current employment, you do not nothing whats covered and what not.All you know is the basic.Got cha, because a employer based healthinsurance policy is NEVER givin to the actual employee. You keep saying deficit. What part of Taxes going to pay for it don't you get?....and if you were so worried about the deficit,I guess you should have open your mouth, when we spent 1 billion on a war to kill people.
muratshawn 2 years ago
How old are you?
Employees who have health insurance still HAVE TO SIGN the health care policy. If you didnt read over the policy when you signed it you can go to your local insurance office and obtain a copy (I know because Ive done this). I know they are going to raise our taxes to pay for the deficit, but why should they? If they just have tort reform, allow people to purchase insurance across state lines, and make healthcare mandatory you will accomplish the same thing.

Is this Gratzer guy Australian?

Ditto. Gratzer...stupid, sorry, sniveling little prick.

Excatly, that cock sucking, money sucking doctor, what a fool.
And too all you fools out there with no education and knowledge.
If the government is sooo bad,and so miserable of doing things, why in the hell are the private profit makin insurance companies sooooo worried, most citizens will switch to the government public optionI mean,if the government does things soo badly...why then be worried???? dumb fucks. Government health care, will no rip us off,or deny treatment, insurance companies do
muratshawn 2 years ago
Government will not deny treatment? Surely we cant afford to give everyone every procedure they want for free. The reason everyone is scared of the govt plan is because it WILL (just like Amtrak, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Postal Service, etc etc) run a deficit each and every year that it operates. How can private healthcare companies afford to compete with a company that can afford to lose money every year. With the annual deficit govt care will be cheap and everyone will switch.
kungfoochicken08 2 years ago
Kungfoo, look dude. Why do you keep saying Free. Like in any other intelligent, civilized caring nation, besides us of course.Universal Health Care is provided to everyone, for any illness, any procedure free of out of pocket charge,How is it paid for and financed? by tax,by paying taxes....thats how it would work. Private inurance companies can not compete? do you realize, maybe private profit making insurance companies shouldn't run a healthcare based insurance? no other nation allows that!
muratshawn 2 years ago
muratshawn to quote a brilliant man "YOU LIE!".

He offered a industry scripted argument based on pseudo-calculations and got a verbal smackdown from Dennis Kucinich.
logtype47 2 years ago 11
@logtype47 blah blah blah. Same old bullshit unsupported by any studies about "funding." WHO THE HELL CARES! Prove to me the funding actually influenced their decision. Don't you nincompoops ever consider that maybe it's the other way around, that perhaps certain interests give money b/c the individual or group AGREES with them, regardless of original funding? come on, dude. People don't just wantonly give money randomly to folks they don't know for sure support their cause. It's bogus.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 IT's such a fucking tired argument from the left. "Oh, look at who funds him", as if somehow that makes them ENTIRELY beholden to the paymasters. gimme a break. I'm sure the Manhattan Institute could just as well find funding WITHOUT a lot of the corporations giving them money. Hell, Cato and Independent Institutes, for example, do NOT have the majority of their funding from corporate (believe it or not), although it is a large percentage.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 You don't give money to someone who could potentially stab you in the back in the near future. You give money to someone who supports your cause for a long time to come, left or right.
I could go on about how much Big Labor supports Obama. But I have a lot more decency than to just assume funding makes him beholden. Obama was already pro-union long before he ran for president. Money does not automatically make one beholden. Sometimes it can, but most times no.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 And let's not forget those who could get HC but opt not to at the moment b/c they're healthy or very healthy and don't really need it.
Besides, there is some correlation between the rise of HC costs and the amount that insurance covers compared to copay percentages. Insurance companies insure WAY too much, even for basic shit like checkups. They should mainly focus on catastrophic shit. HSAs are also a good way to save up for basic shit.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 I have no doubt that the public option would've been BAD "competition." After all, it's gov't run. Gov't is not LEGALLY obligated to balance its books. It can run deficits, unlike private firms. I mean look at Amtrak. Gov't firms can ask the treasury for more money, like the post office. They can do all sorts of shit private firms cannot. That gives them a totally unfair advantage. That's not what competition is about. REAL competition is a level playing field.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 And yet, the public option would NOT be held accountable for violating antitrust laws. No gov't firm or program has, as far as I know. Even fucking unions aren't susceptible to antitrust regulations. Unless we had it in writing, in the actual bill itself, that the public option would've been exempt from all those special gov't privileges, it would be a disaster.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 The sad thing is how all these liberals and Democrats think that introducing a GOVERNMENT program is "competition", while ignoring the LACK OF competition in the state markets of insurance thanks to regulators and politicians keeping it down. I mean, do you realize how costly it is to run a health insurance firm?? Part of that has to do with the TREMENDOUS amount of shit that one has to cover for each patient. The "minimum" in and of itself is pretty "cadillac". i mean come on.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 Why don't the Dems open their eyes to actually inducing PRIVATE competition by OPENING THE NATIONAL MARKET?? Repeal McCarran-Ferguson, for crying out loud. Allow for an interstate insurance market where ANYONE can buy it from any state in the country. We allow it for any other insurance. Why not HC?
But of course, the regulators and liberal "experts' claim that will open us up to a "race to the bottom" in coverage. right... that old canard? It's hypothetical fear-based bs.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 And btw, why the hell can't we just TRUST healthcare consumers to make the best decisions ON THEIR OWN if we just let them have access to the right information?? They make rational decisions in every other market they buy shit from. Why wouldn't it work for HC? It works fine in Switzerland, where everyone is required to buy coverage. I mean, it's a disgrace that consumers know so little about how much non-insurance HC costs. Let them KNOW!
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 Empower the consumers. Don't let gov't monopolize or introduce some bogus gov't firm as "competition."
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 It's amazing how many people will latch onto that bullshit 47 million figure without actually looking into it further. When you do, you find out that quite a few, perhaps as many as 1/2 or 3/5ths (or more) are NOT in any major danger. Many of them are simply uninsured b/c they're going in and out of jobs. They'll get a job relatively soon and get insurance again. Most of the uninsured don't stay w/o insurance for more than half a year. It's not some chronic problem.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 If you take a snapshot of the uninsured and then take another one a year later, you'll find a COMPLETELY different group of people. Quite a few of them, also, are folks who ARE eligible for things like Medicaid or SCHIP but have yet to register. Quite a few are illegal aliens (which may be significant to point out if u don't think they deserve insurance). And many of them make 50 grand, 75 grand OR more, and could probably afford at least minimum coverage.
whoo689 1 year ago
@logtype47 And besides, why the fuck does it matter who funds someone who argues a particular position? It DOESN'T necessarily mean he's arguing FOR that interest. They just both agree on the same basic principles. I don't see any reason to doubt Dr. Gratzer's honesty and think that he's beholden to insurance. I see no reason to doubt that he really believes in free market healthcare. Attack him on THOSE points. Don't attack the messenger with bullshit about funding. that does nothing.
whoo689 1 year ago
@logtype47 Dr. Gratzer is a moron. Why would Medicare need to be "capitalized"? It is backed up by the US government. Medicare works better than private insurance and all it need is to have the corporate welfare taken out of it, and pay doctors a little better. Only a idiot cant see that a single payer not for profit system would be more cost effective and provide for better health care

In Canada 90 - 95 % of significant injuries & insurance interests are deliberately misdiagnosed & not treated or compensated. They use stereotypical clinical code/commentary to classify & render injured workers & auto accident patient claimants. This undermines the principles of universal healthcare.
Canada was a testing ground for this Medical New York Shell game.
We are treated as bad as or worse than livestock in our 'universal' healthcare'system, yet most of the public don;t know it

Thanks for the helpful tip on hospital billing. It's shameful that our government allows the private sector to exploit patients in this manner.

What an insufferably smarmy human being.
This bit about Medicare reimbursements being 'price controls' that impoverish the poor doctors...it's revolting. Gratzer's clearly a social darwinist child of privilege--the kind of person who made guillotines seem reasonable.
