Did the same thing back in 2002/3 i also used 8 triac's/optocuplers built in a fan cooled box, with the led's going thru the case on the from and the power cables in the back to control 8 100W bulbs. the triac's were mounted on a heatsink mind you :P. i belive i have a single pic of the unit, it i find it ill post it somewhere.

Once, a long time ago, i've sticked leds directly into lpt's holes, driving them with same plugin. I've damaged my LPT eventually then :P Thanx much for reminding me that song, it was one of my favourites then.
