Ive always loved this song,,,& only just dug out "Lucky Town" after many years,,,,this vid is brilliant,,shows Bruce being "the Boss",,,cajoling & encouraging the e-street boys to give it a lash & they all dig in & bang out this great old song,,,well done & big thankyou for posting it,,,,,
No one will ever say a Springsteen Concert is lipsynced................ Maybe some of these other B.S. live performers can see the personality and interaction by being able to actually perform their music truly live!!!!
I don't think I've ever seen him really use hand signals to tell them which chords to play like I have in this video. GREAT PERFORMANCE. (And I love that "Whoops" at the end when he changes guitars, haha!)
I will never ever ever ever get tired of watching this. The quality of the band to adapt to this song on the fly with Bruce signalling chord changes and Bruce's obvious affection for the song get me every time. Also love when he calls them sissies for being scared of trying it :):):)
@glebemeadow me too i'm never ever get tired of watching it. Please can you tell me what does it means "sissies".. i'm italian and my english is not so good. Thanks. Laura
@LaMaffola No problem. Bruce is accusing the band of being scared and embarassed about potentailly making a mistake. NB- Sissy (singular): A man who lacks the eg courage traditionally associated with maleness.
Love this song. A great video. I thought the crowd had stumped him at first but he does well seeing that it had been 6 years since he last performed the song.
Cool request... I was at the last Philly show (10/20) you could say that could have been the best setlist on the tour: Open with The Price You Pay and end with Rosalita. 31 songs and non-stop. Def. in the top 3 on the whole tour.
I didnt think he could top the St pattys day show of 08 in the Miltown, or Harleyfest, but he did..Kittys back, Livin Proof, Cadillac Ranch, Darlington Co, Santa Claus...need I go on? He always seems to be having a blast on stage...I loved when he yelled out Hey OHIO just for laughs! Come back soon Boss!
For the first time in my life I didn't get into the pit while holding a GA, bad luck ended up being good luck as I got to sit in a special place behind the soundboard thanks to a friend of a friend. thank You. Any way from there I got to observe what Bruce was seeing on his teleprompter which ran through the song at extra fast speed as Bruce signaled out and played the chords for the Band, truly incredible both for Bruce doing it and the band picking it up I am once again in awe.
That was my sign. Thanks so much for capturing this! I taped it myself but a) couldn't get the beginning and end because I was handing him the sign and getting it back from him and b) I was way too close to the sound, my video is all treble and bass, but looks great. What a great moment both personally and to be able watch the band really go out on a limb for a fan. They obviously didn't know it and didn't have to bother with it. This on of those memories that will never die. Thanks Bruce!
Thanks for taping it. Thanks for requesting it. It's one of the best songs from the HT/LT albums and certainly up there as a great Bruce song in general. Very different but 100% Bruce. Always loved this song.
you think that as Bruce played this song he said to himself, "Damn this song is brilliant. Damn, these lyrics are great"? Waited at MSG for this one....Happy for those who saw the piece live!!
he shows the chords. e.g. 1, 4, 5 that means in whatever key the song is in, it's clear to everybody what chord comes next. this comes from jazz. 1 is the key chord, 4 is the fourth above and so on. blues and r& r for example is basically 1-4-1- 5-4-1. pretty handy to communicate within a band.
This was great!! He cracked up the place trying to remember how to play it! Nice video of this part of an unforgettable night...thanks for posting it for us!
11-16-09 GOOD Vid ! Thank you so much 4 making it & then 4 sharing it ! That's very 'COOL.' GREAT footage. U did an amazing job on this. : ) I subscibed to you.. ** 'IMAGINE' ...I've NEVER seen Bruce LIVE...BUT I GOT 2 MEET John Lennon ! (My Hero) & his son SEAN( &'Elephants Memory ) My parents owned an apartment (Co-op)@ 'The Dakota.'
Thanks for posting that was great! Great song that really resonates with parents of young ones (me) and it's great to see the band working it out on stage and having fun with it. Great clip!!
Awesome ! Improvising on the spot , glad to see him this year on stage !!!

what are those handsigns bruce is making? never seen them before in any other song..
MsTiinuska 2 years ago
He doesn't make those, the signs are song requests from the audience.
oogleboogle14 2 years ago
No, he asked what the hand signs where. I think Bruce was directing traffic, so to speak.
slashtwg 2 years ago
He's directing the chord changes since the band hasn't played the song since 2003 (e.g 4 chord, 5 chord, etc.).
