I hear my students talk about who kicked whose ass last weekend! I hear the talk about guns & bullets and the funerals they attended or watched from the distance. I hear them talk about abuse from cops & white folks as the enemy. I asked them last week who has hurt you more often, the deepest and the most? Somebody in your own family & neighborhood or white folks? If we keep brutalizing and killing each other, we are doing the work of the police dept. That's what self hate looks like.
