Hi, first of all, amazing cover! You, sir, are very talented. I'm just wondering, is it possible that the actual song would be played in Standard D, 1 step down? Because I have a guitar pro tab of another song from this band (Everlasting Ward) that I got on a Noumena forum where the band members were Admins, and they tabbed it with a Standard D tuning. Just wanted to know if they switch tunings between songs, or if the forum was fake. Thank you.

@MetalDubreuil Yhea. Noumena guys play in D standart pretty much. They have said it on that forum you mencioned and I don´t think it is a fake. i´ve played some Noumena songs and they sound good in D. Nevertheless, Schehf played it in C and it also sounds good :). I guess the original is just one stepdown on the neck and that´s the main diference.

I do enjoy the growl of the original, but now I can really appreciate the harmony of the guitar and drums.

The song has so much body and the lead guitar alone acts as a vocalist--strong and unstoppably eloquent.

By the way I went to GuitarCenter and tried both the prophecy and the esp/ltd ec-1000. The ec-1000 was a lot lighter but it just didn't feel right being a les paul style and to be that light.. The upper fret access is better on the ec-1000 but its not that much of a difference. The frets however was the thing that did it for me. I believe the ec-1000 comes with EXTRA jumbo frets, but the prophecy comes with jumbo frets. I ordered the prohecy and it will be in my hands on wednesday next week :D

Schehf is playing it in C standart, but I believe Noumena plays it in D standart. At least I´ve read on their messageboard that they tune to D standart. They use to use other tunnings but nowadays they stick to D standart. Since this song is from there latest work if you guys want to play it with the right tunning, D it is :), just move all down two frets :)

I have 3 Epiphone Les Paul special. But only use one. The other two are in the basement.

The one I use is in the same tuning as the Prophecy. Same strings as well.

I switched to the 13-62, cause the 12-56 Ernie Ball has a plain G-strinh and with that thickness it didn't sound good.

In the 13-62 D'addario pack the g-string is not plain. Way better sound, playing and a lot easier to put on. They are cheap too.

Ok, I got it. Mainly due to the G string being plain on the 12´s. I thought the 13´s felt thicker to you, but I guess for this kind of low tunings the 12´s might do the job. Thank you for the reply.

I know the string gauge for the Epi you use on the videos, I know the video software editing you use to edit them, the dv hd digital video camera usd to film them :).

Why do you use those tunnings, why do you changed the 12´s for the 13´s..those type of personal ideas. i´m having dificulties finding string gauges above 12´s and note many people use them (at least people I know).

I tried it at a friends studio, didn't sound better than ezdrummer dfh. it has more realistic sounds, that's true,. But the overall sound, is not very good. I was disappointed.

Ya, it certainly requires some tweaking to get it to work with whichever style you decide to play, but I think in the long run the difference is noticeable. For example comparing two tracks made with the different software you can definitely hear a positive upgrade compared to that of DFH. But, nonetheless, you're the sound engineer, just do whatever gives you the best mix with everything else. :D
