  • you could probably get killed if you had a bottle of lotion

  • Incidentally from what I've learned I have built an inexpensive water purification system about $75 and am working on tin can cooking stoves. It all counts you just have to make the time and try. The experience is invaluable if nothing else. My wife and family think iam crazy but it won't stop me.the irony is I do it for her and the kids.

  • When SHTF basically it is time to man up. That is when we will find out what we are made of. man used to survive with flint tools for goodness sake. But they also had knowledge of their environment. I have no money to prep, but knowledge is free that's why I watch these guys and then research while we have the resources. Everybody should be learning as much as possible. Keep up the good work.

  • So this is what your preparing for, to live a shitty quality of life? Not knowing where your going to get food from and always looking over you shoulder? You can have it. Sometimes you just have to pack it in. If it ever happens, i wish you well but it sure as hell wont be worth it...Ill take quality over quantity of life any day.. We all have to die sometime..

  • @itzmarko1 I think your quality has just about run out. When the time comes you won't want to die any more than you do right now.

  • i hear lots of food in the back ground! lol! great vid!

  • Really good. One person and a camera. You tell a very good story.

  • get that gasifier on a trailer , 1kid holding the line and you can run the small tiller

  • Three sheeps, two males and one female, will give both meat from the lambs and hand lotion. Massage the sheep and the fur give you the best handlotion possible. Thats true ;)

  • @dreamdiction a collapse could be a serious economic collapse that affects all of us because corrupt government leaders have spent us into the poor farm. Iam not going to give up and just want to die and not take care of my family and friends this would be what I think would be morally wrong and not fulfilling my duties as a husband and father and a my duties to my fellow man. Inside of me is a drive to always move forward and never give up.

  • @dreamdiction I'm just sticking around to see the final act. I do not have any wish to live in the scenario he is talking about in his vid. I'm 55 and have had enough of life. I am just enjoying now and when this comes ie the scenario in the vid I will probaly be killed.

  • @valhala56 You can live through a lot of suffering before you die. Me, I'm 59 and I want to keep eating good right up to the day I die. Starving to death has got to be a terrible way to go.

  • @breezebro I'm not going to starve to death. I am well prepped with 6 months of mountain house, water, Silver, Ammo, Generators, I just put solar panels on my house. But once all that runs out I'm not going to live medieval. I might change my mind if I enjoy the new Road WARRIOR life of the future but if I don't well I have a plan for that.

  • @valhala56 OK, I'm glad you have prepped. If you want to live the six months, why not a year? Who knows, things could go bad and 7 months later there could be a total recovery, except for good ole valhala56. Living medieval might be kinda fun if you're ready for it.

  • @dreamdiction Because most people cant understand the simple concept that you have just spelled out for them. they would much rather live in awful, futile circumstances. People are stupid. They think that surviving is somehow meritorious just for the sake of surviving. Sad what they will expose to their families to delusions of WROL survival. They will learn the hard way what some of us understand without chaos around us yet!! Survival is stupid..

  • I wish I could feel full blown sympathy over this video but I can't. I have old farm relatives, working the fields, raising crops, their personal garden and running a yearly 500 count chicken farm for meat. They have worked this way most of their life and don't complain as much as you do in this short video. It's not like you have to live this life style, it's your choice! Be real to your viewers!

  • @apbmaxim This video is a scenario video that shows life for a group of survivors after a collapse of society and how they are dealing with it. It a made up story line to help work on your mindset and helps you to deal with problems that come up. ITs a series of video and they are marked scenario videos. ITs not real life its a made up story line. Put yourself in the story and see if you have the skills and equipment put back to deal with the scenario in your own life if it collapses.

  • @southernprepper1 My experience ( not a scenario ) is I grew up in the day of outhouses, no indoor water, had to pump our own from the well, ate potatoes 3 meals, corn from the fields, and lucky to get a slice of bread. Sunday meals consisted of the the chickens we had caught and killed. I understand hard times and the need for being prepared, but I see many videos here that are very extreme and some using scare tactics as well. If you want to know what it's REALLY" like, ask the old timers!

  • @apbmaxim It is always funny when somebody makes a comment on what they think the idea of a video is before watching the whole video...not to mention the whole idea and story line of all the other videos in a persons playlist. You make great videos and all people will be thinking this exact way after a collapse. I know I felt it in Bosnia and I see it coming to a town near us soon...So Thanks Southernprepper1!

  • @IKSDoomie Coming from a long country / city background here, it doesn't take much deciphering to understand what the jist of this video is about. Great video for the newby though. Don't understand the gun toting while cultivating. But best to be ready. Skills and Knowledge is the key to survival, not thinking what you know, but knowing what you can do when SHTF!

  • These videos you make, make you seem batshit crazy..

  • In this scenario, your new "local government" is trying to create a fuedal state. These punks need to be put down as in dead as fast as possible. They are nothing but the feared roving gangs of thugs that got organized.

  • Might think about redesigning a cultivator to be pulled instead of pushed.

Two people with a harness could pull it easier than one can push, or one person could pull it and use weights on the machine to maintain its tilling depth.

  • It's not necessary to till your garden like that. Just use some mulch and you won't have to worry about tilling. It's also great for water retention, and I can see your garden is looking pretty dry. Very good video to start people thinking "what if". Thanks for posting.

  • WOW. This was good.

  • You need to look at videos of wood gasification to power combustion engines . Maybe make a video on how to yourself. Must have knowledge.

  • In my home, I am the main security. My wife has little interest in learning how to properly handle firearms and my toddler is to young to help. For someone who does not have a group to rely on, what would you recommend for security when gardening out in the open? I would be a very easy target for bad guys hiding in the underbrush.

  • @JeremyHopper007 That is a hard question. Security over food production that is where your food storage plan comes into play. If thing are that unstable you will probably be worrying more about security so gardening will have to be done on a limited bases. Or do gardening at night under moon light just a idea I dont know if it would work. Best plan have good neighbors so you dont have to worry about the situation you will work together.

  • @JeremyHopper007 i feel your pain. too bad we arent neighbors.

  • @JeremyHopper007 See if your wife will attend a situational awareness course. I have in the past and it helped a lot. I decided to not use weapons at that time.

Bear spray, pepper spray, and being able to identify 2 or 3 items with in 10 ft reach that can be used as a weapon would be a good idea. Just ask her to start thinking about it. Ask her what she would do if someone caught her by surprise while feeding the pets outside, while doing dishes, using the bathroom, in the shower. etc.

  • @tesskansas Also, if the wife can't imagine protecting her self, then throw an imaginery kid in there. Most women have the motherly instinct, like good men have for protecting women.

  • @JeremyHopper007 MAKE A COMMUNITY! LOL

  • During the gas crisis in the 70's, my dad converted our lawn tractor and rototiller to run off of alcohol, which he produced in a backyard still. Wood gas generators are another option to run engines. There is still hope for WROL gardening.

  • Good thinking on the M1C. If the ladies do well with them they're the right choice.

I've never worn a rifle around the place. Have packed one, set it there etc though.

I would more than likely use an AR or AK myself. 30 or 40 round mags for either.

Even a Beta C, or Bulgarian drum if needed:)

Enjoy your work. Thank you again.

  • Another good video. Lots of thought provoking ideas.

    Thank you.

A M1 Carbine over an AK? I have both and would prefer the AK.

  • @V5R7N Iam a AR man. We have 2 M1 s that are house guns. These guns are very easy to use and the ladies in my life can use them. I was just to lazy to open the safe and get a AR out. And they are alot lighter if I was going to do work all day with them on my back. By the time you add the light and fancy scope the AR gets to heavy. Yes the AK would be better for me than a M1 but under stress you cant beat how easy the mags go into a M1 and this will help the ladies.

  • The part where you talked about work gloves popped in my head the other day when I was shopping and saw a can of mink oil. Its great stuff and back when I was much younger and played baseball I remember breaking in my new glove by softening the leather with mink oil. In a bad situation it can help extend the life of leather goods and help make them water resistant.

  • Love these scenario videos. It's what got me watching when you first started. Thanks for what you are doing.

  • wow man ... just wow , really insparational ! liked, favorited, shared, id double sub if i could , keep um comeing

  • M1 Carbine. Nice choice for doing the gardening. Light. Handy. Reliable. My horses and ponies will be worth their weight in gold.

  • I have 5 raised beds 4x16 ft and two of them I turned into a greenhouse framed them in with pvc pipe for a roof and inclosed it 6 mil and doubled it up,

  • In such a scenario you could, with some simple modifications, run your tiller on alcohol. Not just ethanol but methanol (paint thinner) and 90%+ isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) could be used in a pinch. The carb would need to be modified to feed more fuel in (less power in alcohol than in gasoline) and mother earth news had a lot of articles on modifying small engines to burn ethanol back in the 70s. The information to modify your tiller might not be a bad thing to get.

  • @laidbackguy1972 Im new to youtube; is there a way i can make a video reply to your comment or do i have to make a video and pm you with the link?

  • Try a little mineral oil or Vaseline on your hands. sounds like utter BS but works really well. for a few months i used mineral oil once a day. People were amazed how soft my hands were. Xcept soft hands on a guy arent all that great, and i had other things to do so i stopped...

  • I am currently building a stone wall. I go through gloves about every three days. What I started doing was wrapping the fingers with duck tape. Seems to work for me. Hope this helps.

  • Love your vids Southernprepper..but 1 disagreement ,I use a shovel every year to to dig a 15ft by 10ft garden every year...maybe im abnormal lol...

  • @gazaking765 Depends on your area and soil really. Where I am now I could do that no problem but in other places forget about it.

  • @gazaking765 No thats possible. But turning ground over to plant like wheat and corn for your staples would be alot of work. A small area that you have turned over in the past is alot easier but still alot of work. Keep up the great job.

  • @gazaking765 A "viable" garden is between a half acre and a full acre. There is a difference between having treats and having food. In a long term scenario, you need to be able to rotate the land being planted. Breakign up adjacent land to the garden a little every day and turning under compost is the way to go.

  • I am a fairly new subscriber and loving the scenarios. Haven't watched them all, so apologies if needed, but do you talk about what the local Mormons do? I'm an evangelical myself and really love and appreciate Mormons, but have often wondered what exactly the dynamics would be.

  • @bowarburton No I havent talked about the mormons in the scenario videos. Iam not mormon so I cant really speak for them.

  • Thanks again for these scenario videos. They're really interesting and totally plausible. Keep up the good work!

  • Love the scenario vids, they always help to get me thinking outside the box. Thanks for all the hard work you put in here on You Tube. God Bless.

  • Very interesting video...thanks for sharing!

  • ok where did you find that i have looked for a cultivator and cant find one.....oh and i think i could get about 2 min out of a bottle of lotion.....yeah it puts the loation on its skin.

  • you could write a screenplay. . .

  • I would like some detail on that cultivator if you please, maybe a vid on it

  • Another good video SP1 that is both entertaining and food for thought. .

    You're a decent actor..........

  • over years, i've accumulated large amounts of compost. i advise my neighbors to grow on top of their lawns or grounds... ultimately it comes out to about the same amount of work though transporting the compost even a few yards ... great video and thanks

  • Something to think about. Tillage is hard work and as you say the ground can get very hard. So dont. Use a hand trowel and clear enough space for your seeds. Do a little bit at a time. Doing this staggers the growing staggers when food comes available. This way your thirty cabbages or whatever your planting will be ready over weeks and not all at once. I'm gathering resources around me for permaculture /squarefoot gardening and getting the ball rolling now- SHTF or not we'll have our own food

  • if you have any almond trees around the oil from the almond is the best thing for your skin

  • I really enjoy your video's but for a little reality check, i dont think it will ever come to this i think we will get a good president hopefully ron Paul ,we will get back on track and america as we always knew it will be back , its not so far off just a year and a half to pull through

  • @avi614614 No one knows what will or can happen. This is the worse case situation. Plan for the worse hope for the best.

  • @avi614614 well in the end. . . you connect with the simpler life and appreciate hard work and doing things independently. So that's not a big deal : )

  • well since you have rice i would recommend puting a few asian recipes in your cook book so you can have a few new taste with the same supplies. and as for the new local goverment, does it have something to do with the 4 star goverment that you mentioned in past videos? or perhaps thats a suprise for your next video. i would send someone to represent your community to see if this can be worked out diplomaticly, it also makes me wonder how they will enforce the tax and make sure its "10%"

  • Tomatoes love urine. Marigolds do too...(cut infections and edible).

  • Nice to see the scenario videos again... If you dont have gloves you can improvise some handles using old rags

  • this is all i have now that they canceled Jericho

  • Gloves and hand cream 2 things I hadn't thought of! If your hands crack and that is painful put some super glue on the crack and your good to go! I am a mason and use it in a pinch all the time. Just don't put your fingers together until dry. Reminds me of the movie The Postman and the rule of 8! Did you see that movie?

  • @ceadeses Yes I saw the postman many years ago.

  • @ceadeses The book the post man is MUCH better then the move. Its a totally different story.

  • Time to stock up on lotion ;)

  • Glad to see you doing scenario videos again. Really gets the mind working. Keep up the good work.

  • Just a quick thought, if you take the oil from cattails and put it on your hands it could do a lot of good.

  • sorry - i'm a moron - i didn't realize that you were doing a "theater' piece ...my bad

  • @shanemacc No problem...I think this is my 15th scenario video. Its to work on mindset and get people thinking what they would do in a survival situation of the worse kind....WROL (without rule of law) if they can survive this they are set to survive the more likely disaster of natural disaster or lossing their job or house. They will have a stockpile of food and supplies to get them thru till they can recover and get back on their feet.

  • @southernprepper1 Basically, the idea would then be to attempt to follow them. If you can figure out where they came from, you can confirm if they really are who they claim to be or learn some things that may come in handy later when they attempt to further infringe your liberties and steal your property under color of law. I would be prepared for any sort of attack in the days following spotting that note on the gate, just in case.

  • @southernprepper1 That all being said, when I asked about the gang on the bikes I was referring specifically to the raiders on the motor bikes that had caused the community and retreat to drop trees and hide most of the women and children in that underground shelter. Did the mayor and his tough guys wipe them out before they ever got close or was there a very successful ambush and fight? I feel like I'm missing something, here.

  • why r u gardening with a rifle ?

  • I will not be paying taxes to an un- elected blood sucking tic.

  • is that a mini 14?

  • Great video!

  • I really love your scenario videos a lot. They help bring things out like they would be in the real world. Keep them coming.

  • I would love to know where I could find an old hand tiller like that one. Can you help me out SP1?

  • Great point about the lotion. It isn't just for feeling soft and supple, but for maintaining the integrity of your skin. Afterall, your skin is the #1 barrier against infections. How critical is that when there aren't any medical services available...

  • Great point about the lotion. Not just for feeling good, but it is crucially important to maintain your skin. It is your #1 barrier against infection. How important is a good barrier when medical services aren't available...

  • Put back some utter butter for hand lotion works great! learn your wild eatables too!

  • I would try to strip that tiller for anything useful before putting it out to rust

  • a three dollar bottle of glycerin is way netter than a bottle of lotion for long term storage

  • DO I DETECT A LITTLE BIT OF STEFBOT THERE? freedomain radio guys talkedd recently about how gov originally got started. if you do or dont listen, doent matter, kudos to you for showing a REALLY SERIOUS ISSUE!

  • What happened with the gang on the bikes?

  • @MrBullet308 Just throwing this out. If you where the new mayor that was not elected by all the people. Having a organized group of tough guys to collect the taxes would come in handy. If they collect to much that would be fine give the mayor the 10% and whatever you can get over 10% would be your commision. This has happen in past world history so not to far fetched to happen again.

  • @southernprepper1 I could see that happening. As much as I would love to send them back a note essentially telling them to go "F" themselves, I can see that provoking a less than savory response. If they're running around taxing survivors, chances are that they have some kind of tactical advantage. Alternatively, they could also have no tactical advantage at all. It could be a ploy by 'the wolves' to get you to make a mistake just as easily as it could be the real deal.

  • @southernprepper1 If you've never seen that group of tough guys, never heard anything about said "Government" up until recently, and don't recall electing said mayor than how would you know this is the real deal? Solution would be to wait to see if anybody comes to collect. While time is available, I would meet with others producing food who had also been taxed. If anyone did show up, I would pay the tax.

  • you should start growing aloe for your preping.

  • @AR15UZI I do there are 2 plants on the front porch. I say alot of things in my scenario videos that are not what Iam doing in real life. They are just to get us thinking.

  • i am compiling all the basics...your videos help me figure out what my next aquisitions should be...having a close knit bunch of friends is a huge help...the different skill sets we each have will help if a full blown collapse ever happens ( i'm prepping for the worst and prayin for the best ) love the videos, stick with your specialty, the gun thing would be cool but as you said there's plenty of other gun channels to choose from

  • Further on the gloves and hand lotion and other everyday items, one tip is to go through the itemized dockets from your supermarket and hardware store visits and check off each item that's also required for your stash. Gloves can be made with sheepskin and pigskin, so those who are so inclined should learn how to prepare leather, including tanning, without any store-bought chemicals. As SP1 implies, a glove-maker will do well in a long-term WROL. (You'll need needles and thread, of course.)

  • Interesting I like it.

  • Good to know you are still surviving in the scenario! Good point about the gloves and hand lotion - as exemplars of everyday things you can overlook. I have about 30 pairs of work gloves stashed - they are one of the greatest bargains available for a prepper. Most come from China and their quality is fantastic. The hand lotion is actually not a problem just Google now for "make your own hand lotion" (or make anything else) while we still have Google.

  • SP,

If you will send me an email to suthernlocdotcom, I will be glad to help you with gloves.

    Bob

  • SP,

If you have aloe vera plants, try rubbing that on your hands. Also tea tree oil is good on cuts and such.

    Bob

  • SP,

What is that tool you are using. I grew up on a farm, but do not recognize it.

    Bob

  • I started 14 seed-ings from seed only two tomato plants are large enough to plant last week This is real no scenario the Neighbor behind us had a fire they are Total out He was the only one on the block that had a Stand-by 15KW Generator the house is boarded up Some guy came by asking about the Generator had tools said he was to remove the Generator I call a family member to check They said NO ! So I show the guy an old Shot Gun It does not work But he had not know it

  • Good video. It's just telling people to get ready. People respond with unsolicited advice so I'll join in too. In the old days, the pioneers learned from the Indians to grow non-hybrid corn (maize). Corn=the staple of life for people and farm animals.

You-all eat "corn dodgers". Up north, the folks eat "johnny cakes." Corn=hogs=bacon drippings=a hand-lotion (all there be). Bacon grease was used to treat mange and such on farm critters. Corn can be used as a medicinal tonic (moonshine).

  • Hey man that was really cool you should do more it really put me in a place to think more about how its going to be, scared me a little in a good way though keep preppin

  • This is a SCENARIO video people,, relax..Thanks for the vid SP1..a lot of things to think about!!

  • nice

  • I like that hand tiller. I've always thought things like that were a good investment.

  • thank you for the update

  • She had man hands! lol I love your scenario vids SP1.

  • I really like the scenarios. Exploring situations. The local governing body which is imposing taxes is a good direction, too. Do you pay? Do you resist? Do you try to band with others? So many questions. Even if you don't have or offer any answers, its a good that we think about them. Thanks SP1.

  • I sometimes go to the doctor when im sick and get antibotics but dont take them and just save them. Might need them if what you are talking about happens. Great videos

  • I love these. They make you think.

  • Talking about lotion reminds me of a sceen I saw from a movie. I think you may know it. I did not see much of it, but I will give a hint. What is the value of chap stick? lol.

  • Good vdieo, Great info nice job

  • Great vid.I started my garden from scratch this year, clearing brush, composting and adding manure.I did it all by hand ,no power equipment and grew all my plants from seed.I wanted to do this to prove to myself that I could just in case of a shtf/wrol scenerio.A pick ax is one of the most useful tools for turning your soil.Lots of work but very rewarding.Keep the info coming,Thx

  • The carb on your tiller is not that hard to convert to alcohol. Built a still! It will be nice to use for gas and to get gassed now and then.

  • love these scenario videos - great job!

  • can you do a video of your guns and ammo that you have stored

  • @WildLifeGuy308 Yes I can...I just hesitate to do it because there is so much gun stuff on youtube. But I can do it related to my retreat plan and what I have to work with.

  • @southernprepper1 thanks. I love your scenario videos keep up the good work

  • @southernprepper1 DON'T pay the 10 percent tax. Organize your neighbors and start a revolt. The self elected mayor is charging you 10 percent of your crops today. Next month it will be 20 percent of your crops. The mayor and his bully boys are not doing any field work. They are just sponging off of the rest of you. They are the beginning of the Mafia. You have to nip this thing in the bud, before it grows and gets out of hand. Organize and revolt.

  • @southernprepper1 "... there is so much gun stuff on youtube" Right! Even in a lawless WROL situation, 99.9% of your time will be spent gardening, sleeping, cooking, repairing clothes, building, raising kids etc. Not shooting. Let's face reality, not a Hollywood fantasy. This self-elected mayor could be trouble - freeloaders always are. I'm with johnny102marvin: join with your trusted neighbours to put your foot down and let him know your ROL starts at your boundary. Use ridicule, not firearms!

  • May I suggest handlebar grips! Buy some some handlebar grips, the kind for the old style 10speed bikes (now pretty much reserved for road racing bikes). Similar to the car steering wheel wraps. You wrap the wooden handle of you yard utensil, and the neopren (sp?) wrap absorbs ALOT, lasts for years, and every bit helps on your hands. =) Dried out hands = cracking = bleeding = infections = SHTF DEATH

  • @Rocky1765 That's actually a great idea - thanks.

  • Love the mindset vid....glad I have some horses...beasts of burden so to speak....I guess I am lucky to live in Amish land....plain simple folk....but they LIVE the land....

    Peace

  • I think it is too bad that the first thing you mention for your plants not doing well is lack of fertilizer. Addressing the health of your soil sustainably should not include commercially produced fertilizer (especially with the livestock that you have on hand). I would suggest that some time be spent learning about no-till gardening that uses heavy mulch. This saves water, weeding, tilling, and time. There is no need to till. Do trees grow in the forest if we do not till? Of course :-)

  • @NeKishaRowe Ruth Stout...she is the lady preppers would benefit learning from. Her books teach how to plant intensively and how to never till a bed, even how to turn sod into plantable ground using layers of mulch. Her methods are timeless and totally relevant to a SHTF scenario. Hope that someone takes my advice, you won't regret it.

  • @NeKishaRowe This is just a scenario video. My plants are doing fine for real. I dont use any fertilizers at all just compost.

  • @southernprepper1 I realize it is a scenario video. These are great at helping us visualize a possible situation, thank you for that! But still, I think if we are going to be gardening with an eye on using that food we grow to survive someday, then we should learn to garden without tools like tillers. Even if you only do it with a small patch within your garden, there will we a lot less heartache later if the skills are learned and mastered now, like self-defense and cooking w/ food storage.

  • Let me know where they've set up the new tax building and me and the boyz will go have a little chat with them about taxation without representation, second amendment rights and mob rule. We will also show how to construct a gallows and demostrate it's proper useage. Lastly, to anyone still listening, we will explain how trying to reestablish the collasped system can have even worse health effects than that system failure had. And we're the friendly neighbors...

  • Maybe look into diesel conversions.....if possible...theres always animal fat method of obtaining fuel...Good vid--Thanks!

  • @GoatHollow "if if if" people didn't spend all their time talking out their *ss on YT, they might have a root cellar that isn't soaked, and looking like the walls will cave in..jeez

    LOL

People need to prep like they may need it starting tomorrow. I haven't seen a date for anything yet.

I expect "solutions" that are going to need to be taken care of at some point. It's the BabyBlue solutions that concern me most.

  • that fly at 5:07 made me shake my head like it was on my end, haha.

  • This would be an awesome semi-fictional series. Like a whole series of videos "after"

  • another great vid southernprepper 1 - it devo make's sense ta get them garden's ready - wile people still have a lot of energy to burn and ointments for them hands ,fruit trees and busher's are cool and thorny and make a good barrier to, just plant them n watch them go - please keep up the good work brother '

  • I want one of those cultivators! Excellent tool whether a collapse comes or not, as gas prices continue to increase you might be better off putting fuel in the motorcycle or the pick-up truck!

  • Alloe Plants are an excellent way to have a semi sustainable method of moisturizer and has some additional medicinal uses! Just picked some up the other day, I'll try to do a video on it soon :-) No more cheapo 5% aloe 95% filler!

I bought 4 plants so I don't kill them when I need to rely on them!

  • At our house, we have several aloe plants. They are easy to grow, and occasionally we cut off a leaf and cut it open. The flesh stays moist for a while, and can be used like lotion.

  • Good point on the backyard survival seeds mentality. It wasn't until I tried to expand my current backyard garden that I realized how long it took (2-3 yrs) to turn this red Va. clay backyard garden into a meaningful gardening plot. Not to mention the hard work it took each spring to prepare it, there is no instant gratification, just hard work. Great video SP1.

  • Great to see the scenario videos back.

  • I figure maby 'suistanabilility' is not that sustainable at all, as far as human beings are around! Think about how long would a community from say 30 folks hold out in the wrol, while nextdoor a group of 50 start looting ya and such. Ima little pessimistic I know, but it's a fact isen't it? I know it's very hard work to keep things going that way.

If theres a 'god' or alien race who can help us in such situation......please....

  • I thought you gave up the scenario videos. I'm glad I was wrong . Keep up the great videos.

  • I grew up with callouses on my hands. Working with tools helping my Dad build stuff. I have tough skin that gets thicker, but not exactly rough. I actually like my callouses, I even like my wife's callouses.

  • put wood gasifier on your tiller if it has petrol run engine.

  • Not ideal but for growing in a lawn. Instead of trying to take up the whole lawn you can dig up rows to plant in . It may not be perfect but it will get some food grown.

Me I plan to be able to make my own fuel just for these reasons.

  • IF you had prepared properly... You would have known how to build a wood gas generator, and been able to run that tiller. You would have prepared your garden in raised beds, with already loose, and friable soil. You would have known, the difference between a modified, and full sine wave inverter, so you could run an electric chain saw. If, if, if. We all are on a journey, I'm not putting ANYBODY down, except to say, that we ALL need to keep traveling down that preparedness road!!!

  • @GoatHollow gasifing the tiller is another project for engineer775 (scott) . If you cant do something make sure your retreat group is full of guys and gals that know what you dont know.

  • @southernprepper1 Right there with you Brother! I can build the gassifier, but unlike you... Never served in the military. ( I know which neighbors put in 20 though ;) )

  • @GoatHollow You wrote: "IF you had prepared properly... You would have known how to build a wood gas generator, and been able to run that tiller." What's preparing "properly"? No point in committing yourself to buildings, machinery, plant and equipment if you have to get up and leave. If that self-appointed mayor can muster a powerful and ruthless gang, SP1 might have to move on. Better that than to feel so committed to your plant and equipment that you and your family die in its defence.

  • @Myrmecia Good point! We should always be ready to "Bug out" if necessary, but can't live out of a Bug out bag either. It's always better to plan and hope to "Bug in" if at all possible. We will all have to make those decisions at some point.

  • This past winter when it snowed in Los Angeles there was some guy shoveling snow off his driveway with a cookie sheet. lol. Bet he cursed a few.

On your other posted topic of skills vs. stock; permaculture looks to use nature to work in combination with animals and human design to benefit all and a minimum of energy input. I encourage you to have a look to see if this could be incorporated in your WROL designs and daily operations. Thank you for all your videos.

  • If you are talking CB's, then you are probably talking about hand-helds. This is because base stations need electrical power to operate. In addition, they are only 4 watts of power, so hand-helds won't have much of a range. You would have to use a range booster to boost the power beyond 2 miles. Of course these are illegal. You should also have rechargeable batteries in the mobiles that are charged through solar chargers or similar items.

  • @kenroar Both whatever you have. A small solar set up is what I have to keep my communciation up and running.

  • @southernprepper1 So you have a base station on solar power? If so, what wattage are you running?

  • YEAH! scenario vids are back!
