my college education isn't going to pay for itself if I want a career in music. I can play the music I want when i fuck around, but when it comes to paying the bills I need to find a niche in the market that I wouldn't mind filling.
I don't really play this type of music any more, so as long as you make it good and link me to a recording when you are done, I dont really care that much.
I can't remember since this was done 3 years ago. I did play on some other 2205s this weekend and noticed that mine is more fizzy and scooped sounding (which I prefered), and my clean sounds awful compared to other 2205s. I am pretty sure mine was modded before I bought it.
I've got a question...I like versatility and I know that the jvm is the way to go, but the crunch sound on the jcm is better. Can the jcm 800 get heavy heavy distortion....like some classic GnR ( not that i like GnR that much). i hate to use examples i sound like a noob lol
If you want metal voiced distortion I recommend the VHT deliverance, Mesa recto, soldano Avenger or SLO, ENGL powerball, Bogner Uberschall. My 800 2205 has plenty of gain on tap for styles such as hardcore, punk, etc...
The problem with the 2205 and 2210's is that you have to be careful when you buy because the earlier years were absolutely terrible sounding. I have an '86 and it sounds fantastic. I recommend steering clear of modern marshalls, they just don't sound as good as the competition
I bought it used for about $1150 or so. It is a 2 channel amp, but the clean isn't too great as you can hear.
It differs from the 2203 because it is a 2-channel amp and is 50watts. I also think the drive is much more meatier and aggressive in the 2205 than the 2203.
jcm 800 is a real all tube amp, and it has not much gain at low volumes, jcm900 contains also some transistors in overdrive circuit and has more gain, some sound fanatics says, that 900 has a "toxic" and "unnatural", but i dont think so and i like 900 more..
what are the EQ settings? i really love this sound.. would like to see if its possible ot get it on the MG100DFX or not, id like to get a solid state, but this sounds amazing
Youtube really crapped out the quality of the video and made the amp sound a lot more hissy and fizzy and it actually is. I am also going to try to record another clip in the next couple of weeks.
Also a warning to people considering buying a 2205. Make sure you buy one of the later models because the early models (the ones that came stock with KT88s) sucked

Yeah, that is just the amp; no pedals. I believe I had the gain around 3 o'clock. Also, the amp is a 1986 model.
