  • "I'm the one your mom warned you about." - nastiest line in pop music.

This song is a wonderful partner to Muddy Waters' "Mannish Boy". This is "I'm a Man" - grown up!

  • I think prince is one of his love children

  • "Don't mess with Screamin' Jay" 'nuff said.

  • The guitar tone is KILLER!

  • @jonsilence I'm thinking steel string, but I'm not a guitar aficionado so don't take my word for it.

  • I am old enough to have actually seen Screaming Jay play live. He was awesome and a really good piano player.

I also have the record Frenzy that is the image above. Try to track it down, it has Put a Spell on You, which is great but the other songs Something Wrong With You are fantastic.

  • There is more Screamin' Jay Hawkins in the Human Gene Pool than that of Genghis Khan.

  • Awesome...

  • Charlie Sheen ain't got nothing on Screamin' Jay

  • why notice the red? they are vastly outnumbered. it could always be someone who's into him just not into this particular song. and this is not a friggin shrine. just because he's an somewhat obscure legend does not mean people can no longer dislike him

  • @warmwarmerdisco HAHA!! just joshin' ya. i don't. i proclaim my awesome ass taste for loving this bastard. we kick ass together...me and his music.

  • HOW!?!? How can three individuals dislike this!?! It never ceases to amaze me how there's absolutely no accounting for taste ...and those possessing the least find it necessary to proclaim it!

  • @youamwho i like katy perry.

  • Rob Zombie wishes he could touch this, enuff said

  • pelé?

  • geez do i feel cool now

  • Woah. I was just sitting here, listening, and suddenly sunglasses were on my face. I looked to my dog, and he had some too. Doggy said "Bitch, you looking coooool".

  • i'm a huge metalhead, but i love all different types of music, and this is awesome!

  • NO..Kara, that's not a black Wisbone!!!

  • Screamin' Jay Hawkins was the 1st shock rock bluesman.

  • This man just made me have to delete at least 20 songs in my playlist since I added his because they dont fucking deserve to be side by side with his song.

  • @MrTobiathan - hilarious!

  • He really IS the Cool! He's just lettin' ya know!!!

  • Miles Davis and Jesus had best make some space.

  • jay has nothin on hasil adkins! but jay is still bad ass

  • Hell yeah! Normally I am a vast black metal-listener, but this is too cool to ignore... Screaming jay all the way through man!

  • Which came first, this or Tom Waits "Heart Attack and Vine"? Terrific fun here, either way. Screamin' Jay, all the way.

  • This is a re-working or more recent material NOT on the Edsel originals which itself was a UK compilation if I'm not mistaken. Who's playing on this recording?

  • Fuck the bitches nowadays who wouldn't know the blues if it bit their dicks. This man right here was a hell of a musician, and could run circles around the "bands" of today.

  • i need the tabs damn..

  • RIP MR. HAWKINS WE MISS U

  • sounds like a cross between rl burnside and john lee hooker

  • @jessupar Burnside never left the cotton fields Jay was way up entertaining the masses since 1956. Burnside was fixing a tractor owned by some white master back then. Screaming Jay fought Korea and Japan and very nearly got killed...meanwhile Burnside was deciphering mandolin chords with his chums from the liquor store. Can't compare the two...this is a RECENT recording...in relative terms.

  • @PoireauMan68 Are you honestly saying that you cannot compare how something sounds based on who made it? it SOUNDS LIKE burnside crossed with john lee hooker. I dont care who went to war and who worked in the cotton fields of mississippi, music is music, i like this music, and it sounds like other music.

"Sounds Like" as in burnside had this sound first. Do some research and you'll find how recent he actually was in his later years.

  • anyone know where to find a tab for this? cant find one anywhere :(

  • @holymuppet dude its blues just figure it ouut

  • @holymuppet Fuck tabs get your eardrums working

  • @holymuppet bro its very straightforward - use your ears, it might be hard for you to start off with but you'll train your ears and soon you'll be learning all kindsa shit just from listening.

  • this is toooooooo sexual! tres bon!!

  • Screaming Jay, has to be the father of "Ol Dirty Bastard"

  • @IronClawNinja well put

  • theres no dispute Screamin Jay Hawkins is the Cool :3

  • really... cool

  • Does anybody know where could I get the lyrics of this song?

  • @partypoi How about listening and writing them down? They're pretty clear.

  • this FUCKING ROCKS

  • suave

  • I'm hooked.

  • That's 'cause he put a spell on you.

  • @gosickone1 true.....he was like the grandpa of psychobilly

  • @70n5 itan kai palestis kses (k ayto isxuei) varewn varwn kiolas xaxaxaa

actually hasil adkins was the beginning of psychobilly

  • @gosickone1 he's just the cool ;) (it's THE cool not just a cool)

  • he is the god ov fvk the monkberry moon delight

  • Why isn't music great like this anymore? Why does it have to be a bunch of children talking about heartbreak, a thing of which they aren't old enough to know anything?

  • of who are you talking?

  • just about anything emo, or Jonas bros, or those damn boy bands that sound like they all have the same whiny singer.

  • i have to agree.

but there still are great bands you know.

you only have to look a bit better for it.

  • @trumpzero2 check out: the heavy, elbow, tom waits, the fratellis, ryan adams if you like this kinda stuff!

Blame auto tune and the music industry for music suckin these days. Now it just takes a pretty face, and auto-tune and you have a star. Plus no one is this cool anymore it seems.

  • Anybody else hear that the bounce in the guitar could have influenced ZZ Top? Just has that swang to it.

  • Put all the cock-rock wannabes and poseurs firmly in the shade, and was doing it when parents were still listening to Crosby records. This man sired at least 75 children all over this great nation, gave rock 'n' roll an infusion of much needed voodoo, and coulda been an opera singer scaring the shit out of racist high society types but decided to stay real to the game he almost singlehandedly created.

    RIP, you fucking legend.

  • Oh, completely agreed. Amazing.

  • @wristofkings couldn't have put it better myself!

  • @wristofkings damn right and he still scares folks lol

  • @wristofkings RIP may good him self be enjoying your music as much as we did ...

  • @wristofkings Sir, I second that

  • @wristofkings Damned straight.

  • I love Screamin Jay Hawkins!

  • He MUST have been the cool - between 50 and 75 children born of different women?

  • hes not screaming. id say he's quite horse.

  • __;D__

  • That guitaring at the start feels very much like the guy from Fleetwood Macs - Green Manalishi.

  • JPearson1987, you must mean Peter Green.

  • well modern rap sing of these things , but the greats do it beddah

  • i want all his albums too!!!! SCREEAAAAAMIN JAAAAY!!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~!!!!!!!!!

  • Screamin Jay beats Chuck Norris. Screamin Jay is God!!!

  • He 'IS' the koolest!! lol! Love the song!

  • rob zombie and arthur brown were both heavily influenced by screamin' jay.

  • Marylin Manson too.

  • @HDXPC stfu

  • Wow amazing

  • so cool he could freeze the flowers in a summer field...loveit!!

  • haha

"i look so cool even calvain klein stares at me!!!!

    A true ledgend!!

  • the funny part is that some of the lyrics in this song are actually true.

the dude had somewhere around 75 kids. and those are just the ones that have been proven with DNA and stuff.

  • i've seen him in early 90's in hamburg - great concert. and this song is the best he ever wrote. exellent.

  • FUCK YEAH!

Had the honor of seeing him live in SF in the 1980's. Smokin' Voodoo!

  • Jealous lmao i wasn't even born damn I hate being young cuz I missed everyone I'd like to see. Damn lol

  • he's such a funny guy .. hilarious .. his performances make milk come out from your nose!

  • the coolist

  • BTW..

    /watch?v=PnTb0PfbSoE

  • I wrote that the guitar sound is like the white stripes' and people gave me thumb downs.. you do realize tha screamin jay, although greater than the white stripes doesn't play guitar.. it's just a "an unknown" band accompanying him.. Jack white is probably a better guitarist than the one playing with Jay.. the riffs are cool though :)

Anyone giving me thumbs down will get icicles on their testicles :)

  • doubt it. studio musicians are no joke. jack white is dope tho.

  • he is the best!!!! from Honduras, we love you music!!

  • jay is more then the cool,he's the shit!

  • Sssteak tart tarr.... muahahaHaHaaa

  • Fy satan va bra! hail satan and praise screaming jay!

  • sounds like funkadelic guitar riffs!

  • no, funkadelic sounds like this...

  • Screaming Jay was no doubt an influence on Funkadelic, but this track was recorded in the early '90s. Not sure Jay gets retroactive credit for inventing acid rock.

  • this is So incredibly awesome! he IS the cool

  • Hawkins IS the cool

  • with icecicles on my toes...great line!

  • Wow, he was way ahead of his time!

  • @savvakissss this came out in the 90's.
