@TheRibbonRed no. On reentry the underside will reach extremely high temperatures but the shockwave will deflect most of the heat out and around the craft. the paint on the top should be fine

Oh, btw, SPEEDY!!!! You can be at my funeral on every reenter, LOL, wish I can reenter without saying goodby, and wish there was a reenter autopilot.
