When I hear this song, I just think that Pinkie's the deepest character of the show.

Pinkie is the element of laughter, doesnt give a fuck about the past or the future, and makes her life as fun as possible "now". In her childhood, she didn't know how to smile. When RD's Sonic Rainboom made her understand who she's supposed to be, she had a party - this melody was playing the very first time time she laughed, and years after it still reminds her never to become the one she was in her childhood.

In a typical polka there is what is commonly called the "Oom-pa" parts. Tuba plays the "Oom" part (Down beats) while tenor or alto parts play the "Pa" part (Up Beats). I assume it is a Tenor Banjo which would mean that it would play the "Pa" parts.

But to the part where why hoofed animals would have a banjo is still a mystery.
