  • Alisa, you may be ignored by the mainstream but you shall never be forgotten <3

Felicia Day = modern day Alisa :)

  • Thank god that CDs aren't region-protected.

  • @jcdenton2k:

Thank god that Sony's idea of audio CD copy protection didn't take off and was actively rejected by the standards commissions responsible for making the audio cd standards we enjoy today.

  • This shit goes HARD at da club.

  • Great medley, amazing arrangement and outstanding rpg music!

  • @ vjplayer:

    Alisa, you silly wank :P

Her name is ALISA, not the bastardized 'Alys'. There's a retranslation patch with a much better font that's easier to read and non-abbreviated items/weapons. Phantasy Star Cave, go google it. I'd recommend Kega Fusion for the emulator. Also its a 'Sega Master System' game which is 8-bits, not a Sega Mega Drive/Genesis game. The later ones are 16-bits though. Oh, avoid Phantasy Star 3 if you haven't played it, you'll thank me.

  • @jcdenton2k Duh! vjplayer was talking about Alys Brangwin from Phantasy Star IV, not about "Alis" from Phantasy Star I. Trying to sound like a Phantasy Star expert and failing this miserably didn't really make you look all that intelligent, quite the opposite.

  • @RPGHacker86:

Alys Brangwin from PS4 had the Jap-name of 'Raira'. And there are quite a few fans that spell PS1's Alisa name as Alys/Alis/Alisa. I've seen all three variations on the few fansites that remain. If they'd kept the Japanese name for 'Alys Brangwin' then we wouldn't even have this confusion now, would we? :)

  • @jcdenton2k Probably, but the sad truth is the translators didn't keep it, so I don't see a problem with using the names "Alys" or "Alis". We're not in Japan after all.

  • @RPGHacker86:

Well as the comments between us show, if we'd kept the Japanese names of Alisa and Raira, there'd be a lot less confusion between which person you're talkin about.

I prefer Japanese spellings/names because they often make more sense in most translation cases, as translators rarely have time to do the script the justice it deserves.

Reference 'Ted Woolsey' and the incredibly frenzied work he had to do on FF6 and other games. He's a mad genius, given the time he had.

  • @RPGHacker86:

Another example of translation things that sorta ended up working was the way they added an 'Old English' accent to 'Frog' from Chrono Trigger. It ended up becoming part of his personality (even if nobody else in his time spoke that way) so much so that fans demanded it be kept that way even in later releases.

I prefer his Japanese name 'Kaeru' which is 'Frog' in Japanese. Sounds better, IMHO. :)

  • @jcdenton2k Big changes like that are usually stupid, but if they make sense I prefer the English version. I, for example, prefer Frog over Kaeru. Noone who doesn't speak Japanese would understand the latter one and conversation between English and Japanese players is really less of a standpoint for me. Than again there are cases where they're really unnessecary. For example: In Detective Conan they renamed Shinichi to Jimmy and Ran to Rachel. Don't like those names.

  • @jcdenton2k at least recomment ppl to read up on the story of ps3. it ties in with the other games. the main ending (Aron's) also explains how the earthmen got the technology in which they used to create the mother brain. yah, alot of time travel happened in ps3 =]

  • @davidterrell:

Perhaps, but I still believe the overall story and thematic elements, as well as the aesthetics of PS3 were far weaker than the rest of the 'main' Algol series of PS1-PS4.

Even the Sonic Team themselves recognized this and ignored including PS3 in many of the later rereleases.

  • @jcdenton2k dats wat happen when you let the makers of golden axe make an rpg =P. as interesting of the story and time travel elements in ps3, they game seriously lacks appearance and gameplay. its a shame

  • 2:16 = epic

  • I love the bass

  • They don't make music like this for the games anymore. The games today are all very bland and boring even if they look good.

  • Awesome ! T.T

  • Does anybody know where I could download or find this CD tracks?

  • @shiloushilou

The CD with these tracks are next to impossible to find, and even if you did find it you beter be ready to spend some major cash for it. You MAY find SOME MP3's to download online but it would take a lot of searching.

  • @Vortexus1981 They already did remakes for PS1 and 2 on the Playstation2. They were only released in Japan however. Mayvbe someday we'll get it too.

  • Fuckin coolness

  • Am I the only one that hears a little James Bond rhythm from 2:55 - 3:08?

  • @dezoriajin GG !

  • i'll prefer a Phantasy Star 4 remake, tahn a Final Fantasy VII.

  • I'd prefer both. Hell I think the PS series deserves a full out remake. there are people out there today that have no idea how RPGs started and this series is great. Save 3 from what I've heard.

  • gonna have to agree with ryan, ill prefer both :D

  • Alys i love you!!!!!!!!!!!!^^

  • A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!!

  • This is so fucking great. I still have the original PS soundtrack echoing in my head.

I don't think my dad will ever understand how happy I was when I played that game, he randomly picked at a random date as a random gift, and I really didn't knew what to expect.

This game is part of me.

  • I like what you say , complet rigth .

  • This are completely awesome sounding.

  • Makes me think of what it would have been like on Sega CD...

  • fucking awesome

  • I love the part at 2:19, and at 3:27. :D

  • From what OST is this track?

  • Phantasy Star Sound Collection I

  • One word. . .!@#$ AWESOME!!!!!!
