In my partake of this here quest, I continuely attempted to succeed in protecting the Bosmer aqquantence and I found it rather simple once I put effort into my actions.

(he died not long after exiting the ruin by two scamps near an Oblivion gate).

that's part of the plot , but what is not is the weight glitch that sometimes happens , especially to me when i played this quest , were his body falls on the right place and sets off the trap again and again , even returning to the exit after completing the quest

Yes, although you could save him by knock him off the trap or paralyse him before he gets on the trap, but that glitches this mission (because he has to die for that text to appear) and he will try and run onto the trap again to die if you save him once, he IS that much of a dumass.

lol....and he's a mage.....how did he pass his exams.... anyway, you can save him by running faster than him, and triggering the trap yourself. If you stay clear of the center there's the chance that you won't get hit. and even then you won't die. But saving Fithragaer is pointless cos he dies when you start fighting anyway.
