  • what happened to your hand man?

  • i am a former MP and i love the M9 / 92. i have carried this weapon both on the road and on missions and i have never really had any problems with it. honestly i like this weapon so much that i went out and got a beretta 92D. same gun with a few small changes. i love the M9.

  • I thought the beretta was one of the thinest handgun ther is?????

  • @xxspudyxx2 It's double stack mag and think-ish grips means that it's wider than a lot of other pistols. Especially compared to polymer framed pistol where the M92 is almost 1cm thicker in the grips.

  • @xxspudyxx2 It's a double stack mag. You want a thin gun, you need a single stack. Maybe you are thinking of a 1911.

  • @nutnfancy Would a CZ-75 compare to the polymer Glock in terms of durability and reliability? I (ignorantly) thought that all-steel guns were at the top for durability.

  • I definitely this gun has a 2nd type of cool factor for me. Thinking about it's service record, and all the men and women who have defended life, limb, and country with these guns is pretty cool to me. Appreciate the service nutn!

  • wow first of all m9 went to iraq and afgan with me and i've shot a glock if my life depend on it i would take the m9.

  • That cut on your hand was from a Spyderco Tenacious!!!!

  • You got bitten by a slide?

  • Oh, and also got recommended the Sig 1911 at least once. Can anyone help?

  • I don't have any handgun experience. I've hunted with all my guns, so they've always been rifles and shotguns. Right now I have a Remington 700 SPS chambered for .308 and a Mossberg 500 12-gauge. Mostly I use them to hunt deer and hogs.

I've been looking for a first handgun, and the recommendations I've received aren't consistent at all. Beretta M9, Glock 21, S&W M&P, HK45, and one friend told me if I'm looking for a handgun I should just go to a gun shop and find a revolver made by S&W.

  • This is guy is just bashing anything thats not sig or glock. i have a 92fs now for 5 years, 7000+ rounds only one hickup-bad ammo. So this guy just talks shit about anything thats not a glock or sig.

  • @andrius2274 sig P226 Gargantuan also, same weight, same height, same width, M9 .8 longer-

M9 beat P226 in military testing-

    P226 MSRP $1000.00-

    M9 MSRP $700.00

  • Hey I recognize that wound, that was the wicked Tenacious cut that happened while driving!

  • Nutnfancy lets see a comparison/review between the taurus 92 and the Beretta. I'm considering purchashing the taurus 92 and would like to see your opinion. Thanks

  • Contract mags are not factory mags...

SIGs and Glocks are not used in high numbefs in the military...

I've seen how the military takes 'care' of their pistols...

Some don't know how to lube a gun, etc.

Not to mention that military mag springs have probably been over worn...

Good review, but I think you should have compared your newer less used SIGs and Glocks to a new 92FS with new springs...

  • Is it ok to shoot 9mm nato thru my new px4 strom...

  • @TheJackyBear

Yes it is, 9mm nato has the same dimensions as the 9mm luger, in fact it is the same round.

  • I dont like the safety because i sometimes flip it on when i rack the slide under stress

  • i own a m11 = sig p228 and a m9a1 but have not owned a glock 17 but i really love this gun

  • regarding the high reach to the safety latch, I don't think it's an issue since it's still an easy reach to switch OFF safety. But yes, it is sitting pretty high up on there.

  • Yeah, I'm not crazy about slide-mounted safeties/decockers, either.

  • I would assume in US military the MP's are the ones who carry pistols the most often, every day on duty. Even when training are pilots carrying or only while deployed?

  • What are your qualifications?

  • @Gerryrice2323 He served in the military for years (just recently retired). I believe he also has law enforcement experience as well.

  • is the M9A1 also also available to civilians?

  • @ihatemeandallofyou yes, look at berettas web site

  • I've seen more glocks and sigs jam than any beretta. sig is 200 dollars over the price of a beretta. In fact I had a glock 22 and a kimber sis and a kahr p380 and a walther pps 9mm bran new in the last year and they all went back to the store for full refund! They all had jammed or failure to feed and failure to fire. I don't reload or limp wrist. But I am building back up my Beretta collection. they go bang like there supposed too do. That's why the military still uses them.

  • The M-9 is double action. Do we complain about the safety on a DA revovler? The USAF authorized way to carry your duty M-9 was one in the chamber and on fire. You would recieve your M-9 from the armory with the slide locked back. You would proceed to the clearing barrel, insert mag, hit slide release (which would chamber a round) decock and place on fire, holster. The first round is the same as a DA revolver. Safety only comes into play when returning it to the armory.

  • nice slide cut on your hand haha tried to shoot lefty?

  • I was a LE/SP in the U. S. Air Force from 89-95. I carried the M-15 (Model 15 S&W)for two years and the M-9 for the rest of my tour. I carried the M-9 everyday for four years and put thousands of rounds thru it. I'm currently sitting next to a Marine and an Iraq veteran. We both agree the M-9 is very reliable. I have never had or have seen a M-9 malfuntion. I own the 92fs and the 96a1.

  • Torous(sorry if my spellings off) changed the safity on the PT92 to a more USP/1911 style

  • I love this weapon !! Beretta has been around for approx. 500 years and my m9 has never ever ever failed me and has never jamed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will take my m9 to any battle .. People talk so much garbage about the beretta.. my glock failed and i replaced it with a sigsauer p220 i love that weapon as well ..however i carry my m9 over my sig any time any place .. didnt kimber fire all of there people for whatever and sig hire the ones that got fired?

  • @terrorzona78 I know that your Q. is @ nutnfancy but... I'd just like to add my 2 cents. I think that people are just ignorant when they say that a 9mm doesn't have very good stopping power. I live in WV, and when I go deer hunting I actually use a .22 LR to take down deer year after year, from 100 yards or more. SO MY POINT IS THAT IF YOU KNOW HOW TO SHOOT WITH YOUR WEAPON, A 9MM IS MORE THAN PLENTY OF STOPPING POWER. Learn your gun, get to know it well, practice to improve -plain & simple.

  • Just my opinion but... I'm definitely with nutnfancy on "not liking" the safety so far up on a pistol. However, I would go as far as to say that I "hate" when companies do that to handgun. Making features that are more of a pain in the butt for a user to use definitely does not make a better pistol people (designers), come on! I hate to say it, but learn from Glock, simple is always better. ...and that goes with anything. I'd rather use an ipod then lug around a hundred CD's all day.

  • Never use the Beretta factory mags, buy the Mecgar mags, 18rds and it will ramp up reliability up to that of Sig(under any condition). And for me, the Beretta is more Accurate than the sig, and especially the glock...but I have big hands. As a holstered duty pistol it, I find it Superior to the Glock and the Sig. But it is too large for carry, plus the ergonomics snag clothing. From my experience these are the most reliable handguns, 65,000+ rounds, no issues, no wear, 1-2 inch groups @ 40yds!

  • In regards to the mags. Yes the military contract mags are junk. For the most part, those mags are made by checkmate and airtronics. Not the beretta factory. The factory mags are much more smooth on the inside and outside. The sand resistant mags are an "upgrade" from the standard factory. Had the military not tried to cut corners and went with the factory mags I beleive alot of the "issues" would have been solved

  • @sailingmanuel

Not his fault that Glock makes the best commercially available handgun on the market. It is what it is...

  • contact the south bend police department and ask them if glock is the best commercially available handguns on the market... 5742359201.. they replaced all there garbage crap glock 21s with sigsauer years ago and have never had issues since then. Glock no thanks beretta and sigsauer

  • @fnfal308Rhino LOL asking cops for gun advice is like asking a priest for medical advice.... south bend may have gotten rid of them but they still hold over 60% of the law enforcement market so clearly they are doing something right.

  • this gun looks kewl

  • Nice video, sir. I think anyone here will grant that you know your stuff, although you may tend to like the Glocks among every handgun.

That aside, I just find funny that I just hate Sig or H&K grips, while my hand perfectly fits the Beretta grip, and I kinda have small hands. Then again, it may simply be me having a bad handling of Sigs or H&Ks.

Please keep up the good work !

  • Dear nutnfancy,

I like your videos and gun reviews and I am also subscribed to your channel. I really like guns and I (from my standpoint) know alot about them. I am looking to get a barreta m92 variant in .40 s&w but your review seemed very negative about the design I would really appreciate it if you would make a video of either a barreta m96 or just another video that would help me make a better decision on what pistol I should have

    Thanks

  • @goronsrcool Check out the Beretta 90two. It's got a dumb name because it is very confusing when referring to 92/96 variants but it is a great, accurate, reliable pistol. I own one and have NEVER had a failure to feed or failure to eject. I've only had one faulty round not ignite but that was related to primer issues. The 90 two comes with smooth magazines (as opposed to these) and is chambered in 9mm or 40 S&W. The design is improved and though still heavy, I love it. It is deadly accurate!

  • Any know if civilians can have the 92 sb? I prefer the rounded trigger guard

  • I put my left index finger on the trigger guard when i shoot pistols and it works GREAT! I get VERY accurate shots, even when rapid firing.

  • @MultiSr16 dude...lame. -- Veri

  • dude u should compare the sr9 vs the beretta that would be awesome. like ur vids keep em comin!!!

  • sexy weapon. im going to buy a handgun. i want to do some research. good vids.

  • Woah ur left thumb....

  • Hey my friend,

back again..Just wondering if you ever had issues with sand or grit in the open slide?Like You I spent years in the military.I spent 7 & a half months in the middle east.Just my experience but have had problems with that issue..I know it's a cleaning problem but in a war time situation it does come into iffect..Just asking your experience & thoughts..

  • @sailingmanuel How the crap can you not be a glock fanboy, they are the best.

  • Glock, the new P 08!!!

  • Under 2" & 50 yards H&K Mark 23 "LOOK IT UP, if your life is worth it..." Knock it, you can't on specs. Knock H&K, I know you are a gLOCK gUY... GO BACK TO A

P.08 go back... You are working with a car that goes 40 mph Volks Wagon...

  • Actually, Taurus didn't copy the slide-mounted safety. They moved it back to the frame, where it belongs. Check on the PT-92 on Taurus's website.

  • Blued magazines are the way to go. They're prettier too. : )

  • @sailingmanuel He just knows what guns are superior. Glocks and Sigs.

  • At 8:50 Nutnfancy mentions that Taurus copied the safety.

Taurus did not copy the safety . Taurus moved the safety off the slide and put it on the frame.

  • It is obvisous that this guy was reading off a website that may or may have not been all facts. The Beretta M9A1 is not just used by the Marine corp, but it is used by all branches who have what is called SPECWAR or Special Forces, if you want the true facts and answers talk to someone has handle this handle this weapon alot or talk to your local gun dealer. Also for the Magazines that the M9 has all old magazine that are not sand resistance are being phased.

    Semper Fortis

  • @pjmiller337 WHY would a magazine that is more affected by sand even have been considered in the first place for the Military? Phased out means you get one at a later date.

I agree that it is too heavy a handgun for a 9mm platform. The grip is very large for a 9mm. Many smaller hands have trouble with the grip. Nutnfancy has handled one. I have handled one. I used one in IDPA competition just to try it out.

  • @thecodcousin uh look at his other vids to c shooting.

  • Never did like the berretta just because the bigass grip. lol. So veri, do you upload these videos on your channel for the guy who does the reviews?

  • dosent sound like hes a big fan of baretta's and in terms of military/ combat pistols he'd perfer a sig.

  • you have a open wound on ure finger, grose.

  • @gtvapsamtik spelled "gross"..and yes, he does. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy is the wound on your thumb from being clipped by the slide?

  • @nutnfancy im honestly not a glock fan but i am going to buy a beretta 92 or a xdm 9mm which do you think is a better firearm?

  • @nutnfancy where can one get a leather shoulder holster for an m9? i looked every where and found nothing. i heard that ... Miami something-or -other making shoulder holsters but im not sure if its true.

  • @gtvapsamtik so every time he has a wound he cant make videos?

  • @mad555max Id say atleast cover it up.

  • @gtvapsamtik

It seems to happen a lot.

  • glock is not that great, its just like the iphone. nutn ur just a fanboy lol. glocks are ugly. and the angle of the grip to the barrel is very strange.

  • @SpdDemon69 hows he a fan boy? if something works then you tend to stick with it. he reviews many different firearms and give his truthful opinion on the firearm. its up to you to make the decision if you would or would not benefit from buying it. i think he does as good as he can when he reviews with what he is givin. everybody is different and it just like he says if you shoot good with it then thats wat works for you. no 1 gun is the answer for everybody

  • @02lb72500HD great reviews, but still a glock fan boy

  • I disagree with the weight and reliability issues. I carried one at Edwards AFB. Ca. as a S.P. back when they first came out. Never saw them jam. It weighs a bit but I like the way the weight gives more stability and accuracy for me. From the first time I shot it, I was impressed and resolved to get one. I have large to extra large hands and dig the hell out of these beautiful weapons. All metal is also a plus!(except the grips) I remember when the decocker was a nice new innovation.

  • true, i admit i have no police, military, etc. experience, but man do i love berettas! i know theyre good in many ways, as you said in this review. and they are just beautiful and imho, i do think the handle is quite comfortable...

thanks for all your hard work, i love your videos!

  • the 92fs gun is one of the best 9mm guns you can have. the only reason this gun jams is because people dont clean there guns. my m9 has never jammed

  • the 92fs gun is one of the best 9mm guns you can have.

  • I think the reason it's thick is for when you wear gloves, am i right? that's just a guess also noticed the guard is curved maybe for gloves also?

  • This guy is a fucking faggot!

  • the Beretta M92fs is a modernized version of Carl Walthers P38 pistol. Same open slide design, same operating princaple and the walther safety. they even have an exposed trigger bar. Beretta only changed the mag release, made it ambi, and added a double stack magazine.

  • @nutnfancy Hey veri, I heard that some military units are switching to Sig p226 can you ask nutn if you have time? thank you veri much :)

  • "glaaack!"

  • @HiredForLife24 "glahwk"

  • A note on high reach towards the slide mounted safety: The safety is designed to be operated by the weak-hand, not the shooting-hand. Remember, its not a single-hand design, but a two-handed design.

  • @HC130P8419 If that is true, the gun should be thrown out immediately. "Two-handed sidearms" shouldn't exist, they are contrary to the reason for carrying a sidearm. This is, at least, how I learned.

  • @evildude109 You never fire a handgun with just one hand (if you can help it). It's less accurate and harder to control. If you operate the safety while it's still in the holster (the safety should be off on a DA gun anyways, holstered or not), then where the safety is doesn't matter. If you look back, Beretta has been using a slide mounted safety for some time, and it works, so why would they change it? They aren't going to change it for lazy Americans.

  • Have u see Beretta COMBO came with 2 slides: 9mm and .40

I buy when Y2K...and My Beretta look different from any body from the barrel NOT show out side about 2cm (still 4.9 inches) MADE IN USA

I never see anywhere from here (internet)

    - Do you have any comment? $750.00 that time

  • Taurus did not copy the slide mounted safety. It is a thumb sweep, and does not require changing grip or anything. I have a PT 101 which is the .40 design. That gives it a much better excuse for being a bit on the large size.

You go into more detail in part 3 on the safety/decocker. Again, on a Taurus version, its much better. You can decock, and you are required to do no other actions after for the gun to be a ready to fire position.

  • dont newer versions on the M9 have a tab on the slide to indicate a round in the chamber?

  • @UNoobyBooby sure do

  • besides all the negatives it is very sexy and it reminds me of boondock saints haha

  • y is there a hloe in tou tumb?

  • id love to own one of these because it was just that classic pistol i saw growing up forever in every movie, on nearly every cops side i saw when i was younger. just iconic. i agree its not perfect at all. but its a nice for what it is. if it was like 400 i would buy one

  • Massad Ayoob wrote in 2010 that, "The most recent Govt. overviewed torture tests indicate that the M9 goes 20,500 mean rounds between malfunctions". The 1911, by comparison, went 6,000. Also, from what i've read most of the reliability issues have been traced to the aftermarket Checkmate mags the military purchased (not Beretta mags) and SF units using "hugely over-pressured ammo". Even though Checkmate has publicly apologized Beretta still takes it in the shorts.

  • Hey there, nutn'

Love the videos, but I can't seem to find part 1?

  • why do they put fosfake coating in the mag if its unreliable

  • hey how do shoot 1?

  • I have heard of SEALs complaining about their Sigs, it wasn''t a sand issue it was a salt water issue. SEAL versions of the 226 are coated inside and out now.

  • nerd

  • youre boring ;l

  • Are the Stock 92fs magazines (vs M9) just as good as the sand-resistant magazines? I know one of the ways that you can tell the difference b/w the M9 and 92fs magazines is the lip on the base plate of the 92fs.

  • FINALLY THE MARINES HAVE THEIR OWN PISTOL INSTEAD OF ARMY HAND-ME-DOWNS111 SEMPER-FI.

  • yea but military guns are treated like crap...many of the mags aren't even Beretta made, (cought checkmate cough) and you don't get to compare it to SIG/GLOCK cuz you don't see a LINE of military used guns putting rounds downrange...

not to mention some people use too little lube...

  • I'm sure Im not the first to mention it, but when you mentioned the Taurus PT92 being a direct copy made off Beretta machinery (licensed) you are correct, but I feel the Tauras is an improved Beretta with FRAME mounted safeties on both side's that serve as decockers as well as a manual 1911 style safety. Love your channel, keep up the good work!(P.S. The FNP-45? 14+1 .45's in a lighter than Beretta package, REVIEW?!)

  • Buy magazines from the manufacturer of the weapon. They're a few bucks more but the piece of mind is worth the price.

  • I carried the M9 in the army, to be honest I kinda hated it. Much too heavy

  • @cocktimusprime What rank were you? Who gets sidearms in the Army?

  • if you are i combat you want a big havy gun, it makes you feel that you have som power between your hands. wich makes you trust the gun

  • @sailingmanuel I know, right? Sigs are his favorite though.

  • @ButtPoopWiggle and his everyday gun is a Keltec..go figure. Truth is, he likes a lot of guns, and he's not stuck on any one. A lot of people just assume he only rocks a glock...wrong. -- Veri

  • is the 92 ambidextrous? all the functions seem to be on the left hand side

  • @sailingmanuel Of course he is. I noticed that a long time ago, but it's only because that design just works for him and for what he does. Also cost wise, it's one of the cheaper designs you can buy for that much firepower.

I actually really like the Ruger SR9 and the S&W M&P9 though, but the glock probably is the best choice due to these objective reviews too

  • That's surprising if that's true, the 92 should be more accurate than the G17 and P226 by its design. The barrel hardly moves when firing, while the barrel is longer and there is quite a bit of weight to keep recoil minimal. I can't grasp why it would be less accurate, while I can easily grasp why it would be potentially less reliable due to its open slide design.

  • This gun jams on me as well. But I'm a fan of it, because my generation grew up with it.

  • what sidearm do the SEALs use? whats a 'stove pipe'? you have to admit, the beretta is the coolest semi auto out there, which is the biggest reason i own one. i have a glock 17 as well, great gun.

  • @licmy3balls seals use sig p226, stove pipe means a round only partially ejects and gets stuck, looking like a stove pipe

  • @dominicprimo right, i actually knew what a stove pipe was, just hadn't heard it called that. i havent had my beretta do that in several thousand rounds of shooting, guess im lucky.

  • I like the .40 cal 96 a little better. I never had any problems with it.

  • that's a nice little gash you got by your thumb

  • Out of all that you didn't take it apart! Of course our armorers would crap their pants if they found out you took it apart.

I carry it daily and love it. I have my own and my service one (which gets turned in daily if you're military).

  • I grew up with heavy guns, so I dont mind the weight. Then again, Im not in the military (yet). I like the thickness in the Beretta, I love the 3 dot sight system but hate the "dot on the other dot" style sights. Open port doesnt bother me that much, I dont dirty my guns. Still, I guess Im just being overly optumistic, but there's something about the m9 that just gets me. My duty gun of choice would be 1911, sorry; im old fashion.

  • does that mean there were 91 models of the beretta 9mm before this? or is it just a name?

  • Don't some of the Taurus 92 clone pistols have the frame mounted thumb safety taken from the earlier Beretta models?

  • @John234pwns The frame safety was only really used on a few beretta designs, the rest have been slide mounted. Taurus doesn't really share the safety and mag catch designs with the 92.

  • Ah, I see. Thanks for the heads up!

  • I've always wondered why Beretta never made a 45 acp in this platform. The size is perfect for it.

  • Well, the pistol is already wide enough in 9mm, making a double stack in .45 would just be a disaster, ergonomically speaking.

The PX4 and some of the single stack Berettas come in .45 ACP.

  • my understanding ti that the mag was actually caused by the military contracting out a cheep design, not beretta.

  • You're right. Those GI mags are crap. Beretta mags are fantastic, so are the mec-gar ones. Berettas are very reliable with factory mags. The only people who say M9s are crap are the same ones who don't clean their M4s and complain about them jamming in the sand.

  • also, whats a "stovepipe"

  • @blur2319: a stove pipe is when the used cartridge fails to extract and gets stuck in the slide opening.

  • whats the point of the phosphate coating?

  • I don't know but I think it won by style since I say it looks superior to all other pistols out there

  • Lol, I dont think the military chooses guns based on looks, but Berettas are beautiful. Its not surprising though, Italians are known for blending beauty with function.

  • @CoreitoTheGreat very true sir.

  • @CoreitoTheGreat no kidding military wants cheap and affective. sometimes id say cheap more than affective haha

  • @CoreitoTheGreat Beretta coppied and updated the Walther P-38. Beretta only added the ambi safety, changed the mag release, designed it to feed from a double stack magazine.

  • @centurian318 Yep. Beretta based the 92's design off of the P38, but to say its a copy is a little much. That would be like saying the SIG 226 and HK USP are copies of the 1911.

  • @CoreitoTheGreat Both the USP and the P226 are exelent pistols but they are not copies of a 1911. The only thing thay have in common with the 1911 is that the operating system is based off a Browning design and they are magazine fed. But then again, most modern autoloading pistols are based off John M. Brownings designs. The first sig P220s were imported by Browning and called BDAs

The Beretta 92fs is a modernized walther p38.

  • @CoreitoTheGreat yeah imo: berettas are like..... a beautiful ferrari

sigs are more like....... a caterpillar bulldozer ready to tear things up!

    :)

  • BA-21 or BA-22 parachute in your shot is missing the lacing on the O2 bottle pocket (100lb cord). I'll give you the missing backpad for the shot. I agree with you on the Beretta M9. While I was on AD USAF we used the M9, and it was junk! Brand new out of the box it would have problems, as you stated in your video. It was like hauling around a brick on the hip. Onther choice gone bad by the DOD. Keep up the great work. Really enjoy the videos.

    TSgt USAF, Ret.

  • ive shot over 1000 rds with my 92fs so far, and NO JAMS (yet) even though i also shoot reloads. so far extremely accurate (if you practice)

  • Ive shot all these guns, and owned them all. I am a fan of the 9mm and would choose the glock 17 which i have, for a gun that i would use in combat or civil unrest.Mainly for the firepower and reliability. For home defense or target, Kimber .45 all the way. I just purchased my first one a month ago and love it. Not a problem with it after 500 rounds and is deadly accurate....double taps are awesome. Nothing like a .45 for one shot knock down

  • i hav a bb gun that is a alomost perfect scale model of this handgun

  • 8:26 if your hands are big enough you are also able to operate the safety/decocking lever without changing your grip

the 92fs clearly is gun for people with large hands.

  • Well the grip size was designed for Italian hands...

After hearing complaints by small handed shooters in the US forces, and latter law enforcement, Beretta made a new model with removable pistol grips.

  • I have a Beretta 96 that came with a polymer trigger which did give me rubbing issues as you mentioned, but replacing it with an older metal trigger mad a big difference. I'm guessing the M9 always has the metal trigger but civilians may want to consider swapping the trigger on the newer M92/96 pistols to make them easier to shoot

  • Damn my chubby fingers :D

  • The wider grip can be a GOOD thing for some people. I have glocks and Sigs and The beretta is by far MY best . Maybe not true for everybody, but i can dump a whole 92fs mag in the 10 ring in less time than i can get off 1/2 mag with glock or sig. the beretta's extra weight and wider grip allow me to hold the sights on target much easier. My glocks and other polymer frames just bounce too much because they're lighter...and ive had to buy slip on grips for all of them because they're too narrow.

  • i dont like slide mounted controls either. makes me feel like there would be more things for it to go wrong. but i dont think having to change my grip to lower the hammer is a problem at all. because why would you want to lower it? because youre done shooting..

  • I was doing a tactical shooting clinic with my Glock 19 (compact w/ 15 rds). My teammate had a 92 with him. As we were going down the aisle, his jammed every two rounds. Was it probably a fluke in that gun's career? Yes. And I bet the vast majority of 92s don't have that issue. But I do know that I've never seen a Glock (including mine) have any problems whatsoever. I'm not saying the Glock is the end all, be all. But I can't ignore those experiences either.

  • @Egladhon I've seen MANY glocks die out... especially when the Indiana State Police had a whole new shipment of .40 glocks and they shipped them back in a month after Glock wouldn't fix them and they were not reliable... they still use the old G17s, but they are at the end of their life.

I've seen glocks malfunction on the firing line and I've seen 92s go for over 10,000 rounds without issue.. It comes down to ammo and the shooter also.

  • AUSly09. Sorry. I have to go off of what I see or at least what people whom I know well and trust have seen or documented with their own eyes. I can't go off of internet rumors. And with all due respect, I don't know if "MANY" refers to a dozen, fifty, or 200 Glocks that die out. I'm just saying that from my experience (and the experience of many others I know in civilian, police or military capacity), they argue that the Glock will be more reliable than a Beretta.

  • @Egladhon Many refers to the whole New York City police force of 40,000 having ejection problems with brand new Glock 19s.... also refers to 1,500 Indiana state troopers shipping back their .40 glocks due to a similar problem. Also, my dept and the next city dept. of 120 sending back their .40 glocks due to problems with a light attached. Also, glocks can fire out of battery... big no no. Berettas in police service during the 80s and 90s served extremely well. Glocks have problems also.

  • @AUSly09 At least the HK USP is designed for high pressure rounds like the .40 and won't fire out of battery. Glock is a nice gun in 9mm, but Glock tried to make it too many things at once and it bit them.

  • @Egladhon Also, in the instance of ISP and the NYPD and our own problems, Glock sent a rep and each time, it was either blamed on the ammo, shooter, or something else... never the damn handgun

  • Interesting. So what do you think happened? Bad batch? That's certainly the exception to the rule.

Now granted, I have heard from one reliable source that Glock is more reliable in 9mm than in .40.

  • To tell you the truth, with the exception of the NYPD's problems, most of the problems have been in the .40 and .45 versions. The gun was originally designed for 9mm and has good casing support for 9mm.

when designing a pistol, you have to take into account the weight differences in the slide and frame for each round to create a pistol that will reliably function. Our guns wouldn't function with lights attached at all. What irritated me was Glock's response. I have trouble trusting them.

  • Hmmm... Sounds like customer service was an issue here.

I have heard (haven't verified) that Glock had their 10mm more custom built for the round but then combined pieces from that and their 9mm to beat competitors to supply the FBI with the Glock .40.

Anyway, I've never had a problem with a 9mm no matter what loadings I put in my Glock 19. And while I've heard great things about the .40s as well, the slightly better reliability of the 9mm was a factor in choice.

  • So, I'd be okay with a Glock 17, but none else. It's spotty, but when you have many other gun makers that never had problems with whole dept. contracts, it makes you question the design of anything other the Fullsize 9mm variant.

Maybe a bad batch, but if that was the case, new ones being shipped in should have fixed it, but they didn't. Even the ones brought by the rep wouldn't function correctly with 6 diff. types of ammo, ball and JHP...

  • I've experience the exact same thing. I've seen the plastic sights, fly off glocks, and everybody busting into hysteria. That damn slide is too heavy for the frame. You can't shoot glocks limp wristed or that slide will malfunction. Durable piece of polymer garbage.

With their brick handles, nasty triggers, and simplicity glocks are perfect for drones in Law Enforcement, who can't use a pistol properly. However many Law Enforcement officers are great marksmen, who know their guns...

  • lol what gun should you shoot limp wristed?..and as for the slide being to heavy yea it is..when the gun is empty..but what good is an empty gun?..throw a full mag in the
