  • Am I the only person that thinks this gent sounds exactly like Israel? (WeAllJuggleKnives)

This isn't a bad thing, by the way. It's just something I picked up on.

  • Any cordage is good, dont matter what u use if ur trying to survive, learn how to make it from plants aswell

  • what is it with people posting videos saying um um um um um um um um um um um all the time doesnt these people think of what there going to do and say before recording get your story right first coz folk dnt want to watch if people dnt know what there saying the end

  • bunch about explaining what 550 is and what it's not but barely any benefits explained

  • Surplus stores have it.

  • what pack do you have?

  • What exactly is it you're surviving from ????????????

  • You could use the interior strands to suture a wound. I had to do that once.

  • @Jay5355 i honestly dont care if you think im being rude...i was mentioning a product that aids a charity. soooo thank you for commenting.((:

  • @gusssugs is def right haha

  • I'm not sure if my interior is real or not at this point.. I mean I suspended myself off a pull up bar to test the cord but i'm still like paranoid.

  • Ummmmmmmmm, don't you know you can buy Paracord from the CaliforniaCarpenter7 beer fund?

It's 550, with 7 internal strands. It comes with a custom, handwritten note from me that says "Thanks for your money, asshole" and it's only 10x more expensive.

    Interested?

  • I have switched to bank-line (tarred/twisted twine) for the bulk of my cordage, these days ... This "catfish line" can be had in any strength, from ~85# up to well over 550# and it does not stretch or rot, even when wet (as p-cord does). Further ... bankline (fishing twine) is way better for fishing and snares ... better for tie-downs and tie-outs ... better for shelters ... more dextrous. I still carry 100' of p-cord but much more bankline ... many more linear feet-per pound & compact

  • Paracord!!! Second only to duct tape :)

  • I like the part about keeping your paracord organized for easy location, and bundleingit up.

  • para cord. and climbing gear. ( ;

  • Thanks for posting. Very informative.

  • hey if your a paracord fan and into offensive comedy you should def come check my site for my first and only video! it's maybe not that funny for all. sorry if offended. not for girls.

    peace

    daniel

  • sapo

  • Duh, I have dogtags too. No need to be rude. I was just mentioning that the proceeds go toward a good cause, and its just as expensive as buying good paracord at a store. UMMMMM.

  • @CountrySinger309 Lady, I don't even have a clue what your charity is.

  • @CountrySinger309 ur the one being rude

  • Ummm buy a survival straps bracelet, its 550 paracord, and its several feet long, with the 7 internal strands. Proceeds go to the wounded warriors project! And you can personalize with a dog tag, and colors! Wayyyy better than buying plain paracord!

  • @CountrySinger309 ummm or I could just make one myself, and put my own dog tag on it. UMMM

  • I came here looking for information. I know little about 550 paracord, and people seem to swear by it.

    This video:

    - Could be made into a 2 minute video providing the same information.

    - Mentioned 550 paracord with 7 interior threads is best, but doesn't say why or how.

    - Several examples are provided for things that can be done with ... string. But, I didn't see anything that required any hardcore cord.

    - The basic example of how to store cord was informational.

  • @zero11010 Hey there! About the ammount of strings inside the paracord, is just the thing of "the more, the merrier". Of course you can do all things he listed with string, but it's better to have a strong cord and don't need it than need it and only have strings. If you have paracord, you can make traps, you can fish, make a bowdrill and build shelter without loosing too many cord volume. If you only had strings, you would loose too much material. Hope I could help, sorry about my english.

  • I might pick up a paracord belt, or make my own. Then I would always have a LOT of paracord, but this website wants 120 for a belt lol!

  • the white cord is just regular clothing line cord. doesn't hold much wait. nothing beats paracord! makes great slings, splint binding, and ternakits, and so much more! you can get it at and military surplus store, most sports stores, and online. Best and most useful way to carry bulk amounts of paracord is with survival straps, bracelets, and necklaces. You can even make your dogs and cat's collar out of it.

  • Alot of rambling with little information.

  • @Gusssugs LOL you don't even have one upload! Come back crying when you make your own vid.

  • @ryanjcus you do know gusssugs has a point...

  • @crazymoo56 you got ripped off dude. Go to emergencymatters(dot)com. I bought 100ft from there for $7

  • You said it best. Most of the stuff they sell at most camping departments of stores is just that "Pure Crap". Para cord is the best stuff you can buy . You can never really have enough of it. Great ideas for uses Ryan.

  • Haha he kept calling it crap

  • I was hopeing to find out the use of Paracord of your every day cary like i tow cars scale mountins (and show how to do this. ) like you sead there are so many use for this it would be nice if you mention a few (not just cutting it up and use it as a wrist band. i figure that you can use that cheep stuff for fishing or snare traping. can you make a harnest for climing or something like that ??? thank you

  • I just ordered some from Amazon for the price of £10 for 100ft and that includes the postage costs. That's $16 (US).

  • what if theres only four white starnds in the interior.

  • @ChevelleZombie according to wikipedia that means that you have either type 1 or 2 paracord, and can only hold 95 and 400 lbs respectively, the main type which can hold 550lbs (hence the name) is type 3

  • Thanks man, useful vid.

    Nice tat btw.

  • Anyone thinking of using paracord belts in an urban environment to like escape from burning buildings? I mean a belt made of these would have what, 200 feet of cord? That is at least 10 floors high.

  • ok, what i got from this video was, stay away from fake 550 cord. there were no interesting or new methods of use. this is the 5th video i've seen that claims 550 cord has sooo many uses, but fails to name very many at all.

  • i always go with military sealed one

  • You didn't show anything except a lanyard. You say u can use it for making a fire bow, can u make fire like that? Please make a video. I can't do it. And if you plan on using it for something, make sure you can do it plz. Good job

  • Good idea for a video, but I didn't learn anything new. All things you said 550 can be used for I all ready know. It would help to better light the foreground for your close ups. Don't get me wrong it's a good video with lots of useful information, I was just hoping for the advanced level version.

  • Just a friendly advice. Put some tape on that can opener or it might cut you badly if you have it on the necklace around your neck :).

Great videos! Keep up the good work!

  • heinnie.com/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=0&P_ID=3756&strPageHistory=search&numSearchStartRecord=1

does this look good enough? According to a review it has 6 strands, not 7.

  • you could us the cheap walmart stuffs thing that its wrapt around the thing for your paracord

  • its good for shoe strings to

  • at 6 42 haha lol i have 2 degre burns on my hands from that

  • I get my paracord from my friend. His uncles in the army.

  • look up paracord donut. I think thats the best way to carry it. it never bunches up.

  • "This is pure crap" Haha, that's true of many things on the market nowadays

  • @nector1592 LMAO. Same here. Good video.

  • Comment removed

  • @RhodesHVACR i think that it would be fine and pretty kicka**

  • paracord is not optimal for alot of things ...don't bring only paracord and expect to fish and make snares with it better..... than many other options.like bank line

  • Awsome vid!

  • you could use that fluffy crap for fly fishing it works believe it or not

  • You come from wilson tactical?

  • you actually take that survival backpack everywhere you go throughout the week?

    lol

and why should the whistle not be waterproof?

  • you actually take that survival backpack everywhere you go throughout the week?

    lol

  • @spartanprepper not if you weigh more then 550 pounds ;)

  • Slooooooooooooooooooow down dude...less caffeine next time.

  • where do you get 550 paracord

  • Tech tip for making videos:

Never shoot against your light source. This will cause the aperture in your camera to shrink, meaning the video image will come out too dark and create way too much contrast. Instead, place your source next to you or behind you so that it casts light in the same direction as your eyes.

Also, try to avoid incandescent light bulbs as they make everything look way too yellow. Try fluorescent light instead, the video image may come out greenish but it looks better!

  • The easiest and cheapest way to get good paracord is to go to any AAFES store.

  • =) my belt is paracord, cobra stitch with an overhand knot to hold it in place. and i finnaly learned how to make a daisy chain today knew how to make a cobra stitch for about a month now.

  • could you tell me would para cord hold up a camping hammock

  • lol "this is just pure crap...."

  • Just for your info, there is actually 14 interior strands. The 7 strands are double twist, so theres even more bang for your buck. Next to duct tape, this is man's greatest invention.

  • nice, but how strong are the interior strings?

  • Great video dude! Just noticed the Twicth II. My personal EDC knife!

    Thanks,

    neotracer

  • too long, wanted to see the benfits, and didn't hear any until almost halfway through, ok info though

  • stupid question what do you use paracord for

  • Where can you buy paracord?

  • Paracord is the knock-off name for parachute cord. Good video

  • haha use the inner strand as floss. it actually works pretty good!

  • good vid but bit too much repetitive talking :P

  • Thanks for the vid, Ryan. On your advice, I bought some. I could have done with it in French forests over the past ten days but better late than never. For fellow Limies out there, the real McCoy 550 is available at sales@thebushcraftstore.co.uk. I got it today, disassembled a sample and it's true to form nylon 7 strand internal and you can eventually break it down to filaments thinner than a human hair. 50ft for £3.98 shipping included, and any weird colour you like, if you don't go for olive!

  • Great vid! Yeah I got 8 interior strand and it is great!

  • damn your hands are fast!

  • Good information. Thanks. Real American made quality 550 para cord is the best.

  • What kind of tactical bag was that you quickly showed?

  • what color is cool color ?? Tan I think ~!?

  • Where do you buy your paracord?

  • I survived 3 weeks with a knife and 25 feet of paracord.

  • I have survived week with a knife and 25 feet of paracord.

  • I replaced my bootlaces with paracord... advantage? Many. If it did get sticky you could take out the interior strands and use them for snares or bend together to make a fishing line and still have the "casing" to still use as bootlaces. I really hate these "survival experts" who advocate the use of your bootlaces for everything and then leaving you asking "Now what keeps by boots on my feet so I can walk outta here?". I "finished" the ends with shrink-tubing

  • good video i like them they really help and are very imformational ( i probably spelled something wrong lol)

  • just bought a 100 ft. made a cobra stitch braclet........and i am well satisfied!

  • 550 para cord has so many uses, it's REDONKULOUS!!!!

    Nice vid man! 5/5

  • What's up your ass ? I said it would be easier to list the things it can't be used for . So what I pretty much said with out saying it that it is pretty damn useful/versatile . So grow a brain and try to read comments more thoroughly .

  • It would be easier to list the thing you can't use it for .

  • thanks for the tut!

  • hey do you think you could send me a link of a good place to pick up like 1000ft of paracord i want to make sure i am getting the right stuff

    thanks

  • Here's a link to the good stuff:

    tiny (dot) cc (slash) o625Q

youtube doesn't like links in comments apparently

  • Did you mention boot laces?

  • Nice video I am most deffenetly geting some of that cord, but quick question, where can I buy some?

  • You can pick it up at any outdoors stores. Sportsmans warehouse, REI, etc. Or even try the internet

  • Army surplus stores; on the internet or around your town. And you can pretty much find it anywhere on the internet if you just type in 550 paracord into google.

  • once again, great video... very informative as always.... however i still have to say, u need to relax dude... great information, great equipment, but any item u show, is flashing back and forth on the screen so fast i cant barely see it... in the nicest way possible, ur very twitchy... take a breath and relax....keep up the great videos

  • Thanks for the constructive criticism. And thanks for being very respectful about it. Alot of people are not, and I appreciate it. These are older videos, and I've been told the same thing before. I've pretty much corrected the "jittery-ness" in my newer vids, and I'll keep it in mind when I make more. However, I wont be re-uploading these older videos so I guess people will just have to deal with it. Thanks again. Be safe -Ryan

  • Nice video. Great for a newby like me.

  • Silence, ersblicken. Do you really think that for a moment, anyone who came here to learn about survival tools discredited ryanjcus on his speech (which, btw, is perfectly fine)? No.

It sounds like you, erstblicken, are the one who needs more credibility.

I learned some valuable things from this video, and I'm glad it was posted!

  • What are you talking about? Where is it misspelled?

  • Don't sweat it-- it's no big deal. Your accent or something sounds to me like you are saying "impor-ant" but I am told those of us up near Canada sound different, too, eh?

  • 550 Paracord is a great rope, but like everything, it does have some cons. For example, removing a strand for fishing, snaring, sewing, etc. it weakens the rope and requires cutting the Paracord to the required length. Carrying 550 Paracord is good but you should also carry different rope too, like jute twine and thin cotten string.

  • Great stuff, I am looking to put together a personal kit and plan on going with a bracelet of 550.

Got a question though: with all the bending, braiding and flexing going on, will that not rub the inner strands against each other and cause internal fray or breaks?

  • Nice video, learning much from your videos, thanks

  • Nice video, very informative! What is the shistle you have?

  • Hey Man, terrific video. Thank you.

  • This was great! Much appreciated. Do you know what is the EU version of the 550 cord? Or anything iwth 5-7 internal cords would do.

  • Excellent. Thank you.

  • crappy crap! LOL

  • hey ryanjcus ,thanx for the videos.I have watched several now and would suggest them for people trying to get a potentially lifesaving system togetherwho are your everyday people.Like your style and keep up the good work. You never know when you might have taught someone something that could save their life.I like how you work on a budget too. These days most do so it is extra helpful. And you seem like a humble man wich is refreshing..

  • ok sorry dude i did not know you had this vid, but for noobs i would be best to say (Parachute Cord) cus the crap gos by (Para Cord)

    Love your Videos

  • Thanks Buddy...no problem

  • military supply stores, cheaperthandirt, sportsmansguide,

  • good video man

  • I bougt blavkhaek 550 paracord. But it has 9 internal straps. Shouldent it hold much more then? But perhaps the outer case is thinner... I dont know :P

  • Thats 650 cord. Thus can hold 650 ibs. 550 can hold 550 ibs.

  • Good Vid! I'd also like to add that if you have a Military Surplus around your area they usually carry 550 and it's the real thing. Thanks again.

  • the crappy ony looks like a shoelace

  • the bad para cord is called perlon cord...

  • or sportsmans cord.aka crap

  • NVM posted that comment half way through your video...Sorry!

  • wait just wondering but whats the differance between like 550 and like 650 paracord?

  • its the strength of it

    550 paracord holds 550 pounds

    450 paracord holds 450 pounds

    650 paracord holds 650 pounds

  • been trying to find 650. if you know where to get some, email me direct

  • how thick is it ?? 3-4 mm?

  • it looks like someones been buying from countycomm =) or maybe its just me cuz the firesteel paracord and signal mirror

also paracord has 14 strands. the 7 are actually 2 twisted together to make half of 14

  • These items were all purchased at local stores. Thanks and be safe

  • Good video. 550 paracord has saved my butt more then a couple times. Its like ductape it good for everything. The seven inside strands are great for sewing in a pinch, and detail work like arrow making. I usually get mine at Bass pro shops or almost any surplus store. It cost around 12$ per hundred feet. So its really cheap. Great video lots if info.

  • Thanks for the info. I had no idea it was so useful, In fact I always looked at is as something people who didn't know any better bought instead of good nylon string or a descent rope. I am wrong... and apparently a little lame.

  • where can i get the cord and for how much

  • is the stuff from countycomm good

  • I've never ordered cord from countycomm, however I'm sure it's decent stuff. It that tpe of site. Usually paracord with the 7 interior strands is good quality. It's the cotton filled cord that sucks. Thanks

  • I do have a question for you. Do you think that if you took the strands out of the cord and balled it up would it catch fire? Could you use the fire steel to start the fire?

  • Thanks Bro. I've never tried it. But that is a very good question/idea. I would guestimate that it wouldn't take a spark well, but I never tried so I don't know. Maybe I'll try it later and get back to you. If you try it keep me posted. I'm know jute twin is good for fires. Thanks Again!

  • Great video, and information.

  • Try cheaperthandirt com. Thanks for watching!!

  • Can you tell me where you got your basic survival kit pouch.

  • any good surplus store should have them

  • i also replaced all my zipper pulls with roughly 6 ft of hemp twine that can be broke down into 3 seperate strands or more per zipper. they are cobra knoted. i would imagine i have 8 zipper w/ 6 ft each making around 48 ft alone. if broke down into 3 strands per zip..i have around 144 ft of usable cordage. i woulda used paracord, but didn't wanna waste it on the zippers

  • the paracord can be used as sutchers if you have the means. i need to get a few sutcher needles! if you use a cobra knot for the kneclace..you could fit almost 3 times more cord..i have 8ft of cord arround my wrist

  • How do you have it braided around your wrist? Would you mind pointing me in the right direction?

    Thanks

  • if you go to my channel & view my cordage tips video...i post a link to a site that shows the steps..its also in the description

  • GREAT video

    Thanks

  • i love this video....paracord is the one thing i never can leave home without....besides my sidearm great video

  • Nicely done. Thanks for all the info and demo. Very educational. Hope to see more. Jet over and out

  • para cord is awesome. i always keep atleast a couple of hundred feet around just for safe keeping. Also 150 foot in the BOB, thanks for the great vid. keep them coming.

  • Very good information. Thanks for uploading and for explaining the wrapping part at the end(!), I always had trouble with that.
