@mageorge1955 - you're very welcome- glad to be able to share it-. Johnny doing what is probably among his favorite things to do- sing the songs of Nat King Cole and honor him. Enjoy.
What is amazing to me is that he is able to take someone else's signature song and make it his own. As in this special, "Too Young", "Unforgettable" & "Stardust" are now his songs. He hijacked "Moon River" from Andy Williams, does a comparable rendition of "The Way We Were" via Streisand and no one has done "Maria" after hearing his version.
Thank you for the Cole tribute. I hadn't seen any of this (how did I miss it???) and it is obvious he was in great form for this special.
@catinhotlanta - you're so welcome- it's hard to find YT videos- b/c so many people have Johnny videos up now- can't blame them- they all get hidden. Enjoy, enjoy! the last one includes Johnny singing "Unforgettable'- i think he is wonderful in all of these.
Can you imagine someone doing a tribute to Johnny say some 20 years or so from now? Who could possibly sing remotely like him, with his passion and interpretation? I doubt that person has been born.
@catinhotlanta - There will be no one- never- he is truly, truly one of a kind. Aren't we lucky to have been around during these wonderful years? Enjoy:)
@beweau - I'm so sorry for your loss. Johnny has a god given talent of a voice that soothes souls- i do not say this lightly - i've heard this from many and it is my own experience- and in fact what drew to him/his music during a challenging time in life. I'm so glad your'e enjoying these- and thanks to others who share as well. Take care.
Absolute perfection! Johnny at his very best, both in looks and voice. We tend to take his beautiful singing for granted, but his speaking voice is just great too. The backing group couldn't be bettered either. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Thank you for this very "Special" video of Johnny doing a tribute to Nat King Cole. It comes at a most appropriate time, right before Johnny will receive The Nat King Cole, "Life Time Achievement Award". He looks fantastic and it is good to see some of Johnny's best musicians accompanying him in this video. Great Stuff!
@SYLMML So glad you like it- you're very welcome- I know sometimes people can't see the notes under the video b/c of the layout now- I found that same information about the Cole family's honor of Johnny-- so well deserved- and great synchronicity! enjoy:)
Johnny is golden. Amazing how he's doing a tribute to dear Nat King Cole but he made all of the songs his own with his unique, dreamy, wonderful voice. God, what's not to love about Johnny Mathis!
@ReadMeReadYou in a word - Nothing! Nothing not to love:) All of the accolades are so real- because he truly stands alone- apart- . Not only was he given the gift of his beautiful voice- 'instrument'- but his intuitive 'knowing' about how to use this is just a amazing by itself! thanks for sharing.
Takes me back to my 20's and at 78 that is hard to do.

@mcoble84 - I would think- closing eyes and listening to the music would transport you! And as another singer used to say "Young At Heart"! Enjoy.

Leonore. I certainly benefit from your many sheerings! Every day . And Leonore:
He is ONLY 75 years on paper, NOT by looks and appearance. I lost my housband
8 mnts ago, and Johnny Mathis has given me great comfort, just beeing there. My
reality-flight. Hearing him talking on theese clips is so nice also. Berit.

"Stardust" has got to be the most goregous song ever written! I've always loved
hearing Johnny Mathis sing this song! It's as if the song and his voice fit like a
hand to a glove! PERFECTION! Thank You!

@done7ful - he was right- Hoagy Carmichael, the composer, was magical - and the pairing is just as you say. Again, 'kismet'. Enjoy.
