I think humans that do this have no right to live. If I had the chance I would personally shoot them in the face multiple times with a gun and make them suffer. No animals should be killed in painful ways, no matter what animal it is. Horses hold no speciel place in my heart. A cow killed this way would disgust and outrage me the same. I don't at all object to eating horsemeat - it's an animal, and no more intelligent than other animals, and if you wanna eat it, by all means, do it. But all animals should be killed humanly.

You know why we have pounds for dogs and cats? Because there are too many of them getting bred. People can't care for all of them. So what do you do with an unwanted horse? You can't just drop it off on some country road in the middle of the night and hope it will fend for itself.

These are unwanted horses. Without the slaughter, many of them would be starved or neglected. It is a debate about which is crueler. If all of them would be treated well; then ban slaughter. As a professional horse trainer, I just don't see that happening!

-These butchers buy the horses from auctions or take retired race horses... sometimes they outbid people who want to take the horses to rehabilitate!
