In reality, Cassie never said "yes" to the question. She was never even asked the question. Neither was Rachael Scott. The girl who was asked the question actually lived. But regardless, it was a tragic event that cannot be blamed on one thing, like video games or whatever. We'll never truly understand why it happened, we just have to move forward.
Oh my.... This was truly a beautiful video... I had to look away when the blonde girl was shot though. Guwah... Too sad.... I do hope people never forget such a tragedy either... 5/5 and faved! very beautiful video!
This truly means the world coming from you - considering I am still in awe of your Axel x Nam masterpiece that should be shown in theaters.
I remember the first time I watched the cinematic opening to PROTOTYPE - I kind of figured the stereotypical blonde damsel in distress would die, but not like THAT.
I actually managed to swallow nothing the wrong way and choke on it.
And then I produced this strangled version of a squeal, and my mom came running because she thought I had fainted.
I attribute the fact that I was able to utilize such footage without wincing to the point of inability largely in part due to the gun shot sound fx I spent an entire day trying to overlay via splicing and volume adjusting. I had to view that exact moment so many times I just forced myself to detach, otherwise it would never have made it through the rendering process. In retrospect, it's probably good I spent so much time on the sound fx, otherwise I, too, would have had difficulty portraying it.
If it makes you feel any better, my mother looks away, too, when that scene shows up. She is also not a fan of the scene where Arcia from Chaos Legion (of which I zoomed in to give the appearance of Kairi, lest you want to pretend Arcia flirted with the notion of suicide upon hearing the news of her sister's death) pointing the gun to her head - which, in the game, is done because she is possessed, but in my movie it looks intentional, as it was supposed to, but I think my mom hates me for it.
I'm not surprised if she does! It's such a sad scene darn it... I bet you had to work a lot on the sound of the bullet too [/nods] But this PROTOTYPE. Is it a movie? Its looking kind of gameish to me. But maybe that's just me...
yes, its a game, and fucking awsome game!!! imagine a mix of GTA, god of war and te style of movement from spider-man, and it comes out a master piece named PROTYPE!
I have yet to indulge in a sandbox-esque game, or anything remotely open world, for I am /such/ a JRPG addict, and they tend to favor the linear path. I've always shied away from anything not classified as RPG, and any attempts I made to venture outside the genre would end rather poorly - never enough story line or character development.
However, PROTOTYPE looks very capable of changing that.
God Of War, too, looks very promising, and I ended up purchasing the entire series - of which I have yet to play, so no spoilers, LOLZ!
Heavenly Sword (despite what the critics said) will forever remain one of my all time favorites, as will Drake's Fortune - and, of course, Tomb Raider, in all its various incantations. (Yes, even Angel Of Darkness ... I can't help myself sometimes.)
I believe that is the extent of my non-RPG's, ha ha. Final Fantasy actually owns a portion of my soul. XD
Yes, it is indeed a game - one that just recently came out, in fact (but has been in the works since 2006) and I think they released the opening cinematic at this year's E3 conference, though I am not certain. The game came out, like, two weeks after - but I'm pretty sure they were pimping the graphics at E3. I mean, based on artistic value alone? The game LOOKS phenomenal, and I can definitely see where you'd think the intro looks like a movie. I have yet to play it, however and -
- can not attest to anything but the graphics. The story looks intriguing and I do want to see how Alex ends up (allegedly they left it open for a trilogy if it sells well, I dunno.) I believe the game's primary competition is inFAMOUS, which had absolutely NO footage I could use (at least, none available for download via game trailers) but is apparently selling better. Or so I hear. And we all know how reliable the interwebz can be - infallible, of course!
If that were the case, I think I'd pay my mom off and have her rate it 100 times a day.
Which may be a bad thing, considering the chronic leverage she would then have over me, and if I ever accidentally pissed her off, I'd know it by the 100 one star ratings I would thus receive from a very irate parental unit hell bent on seeking vengeance via sabotaging my you tube account.
I'm kidding. She'll probably see this comment tomorrow morning and laugh. Or cry.
After re-reading my previous post, I feel the need to emphasize the fact that my mother would be laughing at MY COMMENT, NOT THE VIDEO - as that was not the image I was trying to convey. She has already watched the video numerous times and ... closes her eyes accordingly.
... she can't handle the PROTOTYPE scene ...
But that doesn't stop the woman from tracking my channel stats. Daily.
In addition, I never got to properly thank you for taking the time to re-watch the video. The action itself warrants my appreciation, and the following comment concerning You Tube's Pseudo Rating Theory of Doom is also very humbling.
So - thank you, you have my gratitude. Most definitely.
... Yeah, the song did the exact same thing to me the second time I heard it.
The first time I heard it I could do little more than sit there in silence as I was quietly sabotaged by emotion. I think my brain went into over load, cuz it took a couple more replays before I was capable of forming coherent sentences again.
(Thankfully, video editing does not require one to be in the possession of a vast arsenal of vocabulary, except for when you have to devise a side bar or reply to comments.)
I had to write up the side bar on a separate day - words just weren't an option upon the final render.
Fortunately I was able to restore my long winded tendencies, as evidenced above.
Wow. Your comment was not only eloquently stated, but made me pause and think - and then think some more - and then shiver because that thought never crossed my mind. (Regardless of the fact I tried to depict such a situation through my epilogue - their better resting place, that is - not the group of them sitting around watching my movie - though I wonder if Cassie would have rather been portrayed by Namine if she was able to have any say in the matter.)
... And I added that last part not only because I truly did have to pick one of the two for continuity's sake, but I could think of no other way to end a comment that left so much so open - which I guess is how it should be. Closure is necessary, but I hope the memory lives on. I'm glad your comment was able to assure me of that. Thank you for taking the time to post it in the first place. It meant (and will continue to mean) a lot.
Thank you so much, sweetie - I appreciate your time and your lovely comment, of which I squealed quite loudly upon receiving.
(The multiple hearts helped in the eliciting of said squeal, as well XD)
This song differs so greatly from the original version, it boggles my mind. I was hooked the moment she said: don't be shocked that people die, be surprised you're still alive.
That really just ... shook me.
I actually had trouble falling asleep that night. Very haunting.
... You Tube is conspiring against me and for whatever reason will not let me reply to this particular comment, even though I've replied to numerous other ones. I've tried, like, five times. Maybe this will go through because I'm typing it as opposed to an endless cycle of copy and paste.
I'll try replying to my reply if this one decides to go through. I think I'll maul my own head off if it doesn't.
Ha - take that You Tube! You don't mess with Vixen! And now, to address your question:
It's actually from a game that hasn't come out yet - the American release ceases to have a date.
I procured the clip from a trailer site (actually, a lot of this video was comprised from the footage to be found in that trailer) and the name of the game is - well, either End of Eternity (or: Edge of Eternity - can't remember) while the American version is allegedly going to be called: Resonance of Fate.
It's always good to know one is capable of making a video that isn't of fluffy subject matter and still have viewers appreciate it.
Yeah - this song was screaming for rendered footage (quite literally, if you listen to the original version - half the lyrics are lost due to unprecedented amounts of ... loudness ... but it still manages to convey different aspects of the event it was written to depict. Both rendered me mute in their wake.)
That would be Arcia from Chaos Legion - in the game she is a "Maiden Of Silver" and carries around (ironically enough) twin pistols to defeat those who oppose her.
I included her aiming in various directions while running through out the woods to try and convey the sense of vengeance I presumed she would feel upon hearing of her sister's death.
I ended it with her putting the gun down because, well, the shooter kind of did away with himself, and also it was meant -
- to imply (in, of course, what would be an extended amount of time, not the mere three seconds it took to complete the last chord of the song) her ... acceptance? ... closure? ... I can't find an appropriate word, perhaps it doesn't exist ... that comes with realizing the finality of the act and knowing her sister did what she did aware of the consequences, and thus is now where she already knew she'd be.
Sorry for the extent of my prattle - that happens sometimes.
Allow me to answer your original question in more detail, since I seem to have derived from it's original intent.
Chaos Legion, I believe, was a PC game that came out in ... 1999 - 2001? That was the production copyright, at any rate. I downloaded the cinema from blue laguna, and found it to be a very well executed game, at least artistically speaking. I have yet to play it - obtaining a hard copy is nigh impossible!
Eeep~ I've never heard the acoustic version of this song. lol, it's like I never even heard half of the lyrics. xD; Although they're different, I believe.
These clips were so beautiful!! Goodness. I... want to play those games, now. whatever they were.
and omg the end... made me tear up. oh my goodness. ;; YOU ARE SO GOOD AT EMOTIONAL VIDEOS, WHAT. You should get into the business. Pathos, yo.
I believe I have officially expired from an onslaught of happy. SEAL OF APPROVAL FROM MY DEAREST CONNIE - OBTAINED!
Hurrah, Vixen can now sleep at night!
I am very pleased to hear the ending was not lost to ambiguity. My mother had a hard time comprehending my epilogue - but that may have been due to an unforeseen trauma related stupor that goes hand in hand with watching two of your most beloved video game characters receive head shots. She wouldn't speak to me for a week.
On a more serious note, I am quite glad - ugh, that word seems so inappropriate, but I can think of no other - that my ending was able to elicit such a visceral response from one of my viewers.
(That fact that you just happen to be one of my closest cyber sisters is just ... I was going to say ' a bonus', but again, I feel that to be ... out of place.)
Bottom Line: I am ... pleased? ... to see the emotive intent of my extra ending was properly received.
Yes, this was indeed a different version of the song - which DOES include different lyrics - one of them being, what I consider to be, the most poignant line in the entire song (ironically enough, it was cut out of the album version - which irked me a great extent, but I believe the album cover to succeed in conveying various other things in its stead) and I also agree with the notion that half the lyrics go unheard in the ... louder ... version.
And since I am simply incapable of, as Yuffie once put it, 'shutting the hell up,' I fear I must continue to abuse the character limit. Next time I shall resort to email, me thinks.
Your last line concerning my alleged talent in the emotive arena truly did make me elated beyond words (and character count.) It just ... did. And for this I thank you - for watching, and for taking the time to comment. It really does mean a lot to me, Constance. I am honored to call you my friend.
Fav Line: 'don't be shocked that people die, be surprised you're still alive.'
That just totally floored me. I was worried the song would lose it's effect on me should I choose to subject myself to hearing it multiple times (and by multiple I mean a million) but I find it no less poignant than it was the first time I heard it - only now I can function upon it's completion, as opposed to sitting there with my mouth hanging open like I did the first time.
Yes, she is, indeed, in Heaven - and I totally stumbled across Kairi's famous last line by mistake. I think I was trying to sever the ending clip and forgot to mute the voices and she somehow ended up saying YOU'RE HOME at max volume - and I got kind of creeped out by the appropriate timing. Thus its inclusion. Totally unplanned. So who was I to argue? It fell into my lap. I certainly wasn't going to question it - even if I did stay up all night wondering about the entire incident.
... If I could somehow manage to land a job making emotive/inspirational videos, I would have procured a personal nirvana (I was going to say heaven, but I went with nirvana for obvious reasons.)
Monetary compensation would be optional, as long as they provided the means to the footage, the song, and the hard drive.
Though food and board would also be nice. It has been my realization that food is somewhat necessary for survival.
(Music, however, is TOTALLY necessary for survival. Duh.)
I really loved the clips that you chose for each part of the song -- and despite all the different places you were pulling them from, you did a wonderful job of linking them all together so that they felt coherent. :) Not an easy task!
- glomps chickie because this is now mandatory prerequisite when it comes to responding to her delightful comments -
I was, actually, quite apprehensive about the flow of the video, seeing as though I really did pull footage from all sorts of different games. I made the mistake of faultily assuming I would require nothing but various clips pertaining to guns and bullets, but soon discovered the movie required much, much more than that.
Honestly, your videos make me very emotional. but it's a good thing because of the emptiness i feel in the world we live in. thank you very much for making videos i feel as if your making them to make me happy, and as weird as it seems your videos do make me happy. thank you for taking the time and consideration of making your videos
I was actually so blown away by the sincerity laced within your comment that it took me a couple days to come up with a response.
Actually, I still don't know if I've come up with one.
I was left absolutely speechless in the wake of your response - and I've actually just spent a good ten minutes pining over this because I still fear I am unable to concoct words capable of expressing the extreme honor and gratitude I feel.
You have a PM coming your way as soon as I know what to say and how to say it. Until then, I'll be studying the Oxford Dictionary. I'll let you know when I find a plausible contender for 'words vixen needs to agglomerate in order to express her appreciation for people like john.'
It's viewers like you who make editors like us motivated enough to dedicate the time we do to our videos.
Aw, thank you sweet heart! You have my gratitude, along with my vote that Kairi is, indeed, one of the most versatile characters to use when video editing. (Ironically enough, I believe Yuna is in the running for a close second, which happens to also be showcased via your screen name, with Penelo rounding up the lot for a well deserved third.)
At least, that has been my experience as a noob video editor, anyway. Granted, I have not attempted to use Sora or Namine, but I shall soon enough. ;D
YouTube is a jerk and effectively deleted my comment which was, in my opinion, a perfect example of my thoughts on this beautiful piece of work.
... I'd repeat about how I felt that the raw use of the clips was absolutely stunning and really powerful, even before I read the description or about how I felt the lack of effects made it stronger and how I absolutely aadore this...
But I ran out of time. O_o So A feature on my channel and MUCH love. <3 Aweh Vixen.
Upon receiving this comment not through email, but rather a constant refreshing of my you tube homepage that bordered on obsessive, I sat on my couch in a state of comatose-like shock, unable to get my vocal chords to work in tandem with my unhinged jaw, and was therefore rendered mute in the face of your delightful response, which made me want to spontaneously run around the room in a fit of elation and also cry unrelenting tears of joy due to your views concerning this piece.
Not only did you voice an appraisal concerning everything I was hoping to accomplish through out the various decisions I made while composing this piece (ex: lack of effects, hours spent pining over which raw clip to utilize and/or edit for each particular verse, a concern that my video would not make sense without the aid of the side bar ... ) you went so far as to - OMGSH - feature it on your channel ANDANDAND I just started squeaking incoherencies and - ugh, character limit.
- and while I actually went so far as to take a screen shot due to such an unexpected display of affection, I was also very deeply moved that, by the sharing of this via your channel as well as (obviously) mine, that many more people will be exposed to not only this song, which is something that I think needs to be heard, but also will be provoked to remember the events that inspired the song in the first place - which is something I fear we as a nation may forget, not out of malice, but -
but rather due to a lack of people willing to talk about it - for my father, who is a middle school math teacher, referenced this same incident during finals week while proctoring a group of eighth graders getting ready to enter high school themselves, and sadly, none of them knew what he was referring to.
None.
My father had to explain Columbine.
I don't want that to become the norm.
We shouldn't live in fear, but we shouldn't take our safety for granted, either.
I apologize for the length of my blabber which would probably be better served as an addendum to the side bar, but I don't think I realized how emotionally invested I was in this piece until I saw it displayed on your channel, and I realized I had created something other people deemed worthy of sharing, not just artistically, but for social value as well. I am thankful you have given me the opportunity to further my audience, and therefore the memory, and ultimately the sacrifice, of that day.
(Yes, I have shortened your screen name considerably - I hope you don't mind.)
Your comment helped put my worrisome mind at ease, for I was rather anxious concerning the quality of my tribute, fearing it to be either poorly made or poorly executed (or, heaven forbid, both) but hearing such did ameliorate said trepidation, and you have my sincerest form of gratitude.
Thank you for watching, and thank you for taking the time to comment. Hugs.
*hugs back* (I personally admire nicknames)But for a person with your talent, I can and can't understand your worrisome mind.I can understand how some times you might harshly criticize your work or feel anxious about it. (seriously, you could do a video of a stuffed duck and we'd still admire you for it.)I don't understand how you always feel so nervous, and don't worry, it's a real honor to be able to comment on your video, when you type words from the heart it's something you enjoy.
I, too, am an avid fan of nicknames - I actually keep a word document dedicated solely to the agglomeration of intriguing screen names (I find that I have an inexplicable penchant for the ridiculously emo ones, lolz) and often enjoy referencing my cyber sisters by their various gaming handles, especially when forced to converse with people in reality, because saying you have a friend who you adamantly refuse to call anything but 'Wolfie' really gets you some fascinating looks of bewilderment.
(My mother has grown accustomed to this phenomenon, and upon mentioning I had met a new cyber sib that goes by the name Wolfie, she immediately responded with a comment concerning Kanami - or whatever that game was called that evolved around a paintbrush and a wolf (she played it, not me - I was too busy playing Final Fantasy XII for the seven hundredth time.)
In response to my self loathing tendencies, I think they originate from two main sources, those being -
Yes, the You Tube character limit is the reason I second guess myself on a daily basis. XD
Awkward wording, for the win!
Anyway - I started video editing as an alternate means of expression due to my health condition not permitting me the clarity I need to write, which is my default outlet and has been for quite some time, so I still consider myself to be quite a noob when it comes to the world of AMV's and the like. The second reason is that of -
- truly wanting to do this topic justice, for this wasn't a simple shipping vid (which I adore just as much as the next person, don't get me wrong - lol - they, too, are essential, especially when I need something to make me smile or a crack pairing to make me rethink my previous assumptions and remind me that I am not infallible) but I knew I was dealing with a subject that has become quite important to me for numerous reasons, and I did not want to give any less than my best for this vid.
That being said, it makes your previous comment all the more meaningful, in which you assure me that my inner demons are comprised of nothing but lunacy, and I truly appreciate the fact that you took the time to assert such, because I do place great stock in what my friends think of me. Seeing that you are resolute in your affirmation that my various attempts of expression succeed in whatever goal I have set for myself truly means more to me than mere words can express. And for that I thank you.
That sentence made me giggle much more than such a comment should merit, but only because I, too, have fallen victim to spontaneously deleted comments, and ALWAYS keep a word document open for pasting purposes, which I do for any and every comment I leave: copy and paste, THEN - AND ONLY THEN do I hit send. Obviously I have been burnt numerous times to have cultivated this habit to begin with. You have my sympathy, in tandem with a knowing giggle which arises from sharing the same circumstance.
wow, my comment is still here after a year!!!

Aw, thank you so much, m'dear Noctis!

Who is that? 2:56??
Gullwingsofrock 2 years ago

Thanks. I think I can find it I almost always find really rare games.

Vixen0705 2 years ago
On a more serious note, I am quite glad - ugh, that word seems so inappropriate, but I can think of no other - that my ending was able to elicit such a visceral response from one of my viewers.
(That fact that you just happen to be one of my closest cyber sisters is just ... I was going to say ' a bonus', but again, I feel that to be ... out of place.)
Bottom Line: I am ... pleased? ... to see the emotive intent of my extra ending was properly received.
Vixen0705 2 years ago
Ahem. Me. Digressing. Imagine that.
Yes, this was indeed a different version of the song - which DOES include different lyrics - one of them being, what I consider to be, the most poignant line in the entire song (ironically enough, it was cut out of the album version - which irked me a great extent, but I believe the album cover to succeed in conveying various other things in its stead) and I also agree with the notion that half the lyrics go unheard in the ... louder ... version.
Vixen0705 2 years ago
And since I am simply incapable of, as Yuffie once put it, 'shutting the hell up,' I fear I must continue to abuse the character limit. Next time I shall resort to email, me thinks.
Your last line concerning my alleged talent in the emotive arena truly did make me elated beyond words (and character count.) It just ... did. And for this I thank you - for watching, and for taking the time to comment. It really does mean a lot to me, Constance. I am honored to call you my friend.
Vixen0705 2 years ago
Well I hope you've been sleeping at night, my dear.
Yes, the epilogue. daskjkdf She was in Heaven, right? "You're home." And if she wasn't... well, I'm stupid. :x
What was your favourite line?
You could indeed make inspirational/emotional videos and stuff for certain organizations, etc, and get lots of money for it. ;]
Oh, Vixen, please. It's even more of an honour being your friend, my goodness. You're the nicest person I know.

Vixen0705 2 years ago

Duh.)
Vixen0705 2 years ago
I really loved the clips that you chose for each part of the song -- and despite all the different places you were pulling them from, you did a wonderful job of linking them all together so that they felt coherent. :) Not an easy task!

- glomps chickie because this is now mandatory prerequisite when it comes to responding to her delightful comments -
I was, actually, quite apprehensive about the flow of the video, seeing as though I really did pull footage from all sorts of different games. I made the mistake of faultily assuming I would require nothing but various clips pertaining to guns and bullets, but soon discovered the movie required much, much more than that.
Vixen0705 2 years ago

Vixen0705 2 years ago
You have a PM coming your way as soon as I know what to say and how to say it. Until then, I'll be studying the Oxford Dictionary. I'll let you know when I find a plausible contender for 'words vixen needs to agglomerate in order to express her appreciation for people like john.'
It's viewers like you who make editors like us motivated enough to dedicate the time we do to our videos.
I should be thanking YOU.
... And I do.

Vixen0705 2 years ago

CHARACTER COUNT
Vixen0705 2 years ago
I apologize for the length of my blabber which would probably be better served as an addendum to the side bar, but I don't think I realized how emotionally invested I was in this piece until I saw it displayed on your channel, and I realized I had created something other people deemed worthy of sharing, not just artistically, but for social value as well. I am thankful you have given me the opportunity to further my audience, and therefore the memory, and ultimately the sacrifice, of that day.

Thank You, my dearest Wolfie!
Hugs.
Vixen0705 2 years ago
*hugs back* (I personally admire nicknames)But for a person with your talent, I can and can't understand your worrisome mind.I can understand how some times you might harshly criticize your work or feel anxious about it. (seriously, you could do a video of a stuffed duck and we'd still admire you for it.)I don't understand how you always feel so nervous, and don't worry, it's a real honor to be able to comment on your video, when you type words from the heart it's something you enjoy.
StaneshiftTheWolf 2 years ago
I, too, am an avid fan of nicknames - I actually keep a word document dedicated solely to the agglomeration of intriguing screen names (I find that I have an inexplicable penchant for the ridiculously emo ones, lolz) and often enjoy referencing my cyber sisters by their various gaming handles, especially when forced to converse with people in reality, because saying you have a friend who you adamantly refuse to call anything but 'Wolfie' really gets you some fascinating looks of bewilderment.
Vixen0705 2 years ago
(My mother has grown accustomed to this phenomenon, and upon mentioning I had met a new cyber sib that goes by the name Wolfie, she immediately responded with a comment concerning Kanami - or whatever that game was called that evolved around a paintbrush and a wolf (she played it, not me - I was too busy playing Final Fantasy XII for the seven hundredth time.)
In response to my self loathing tendencies, I think they originate from two main sources, those being -
- ugh, character limit.
Vixen0705 2 years ago
LOLZ - those being the character limit.
The second reason is that of -
Vixen0705 2 years ago
- truly wanting to do this topic justice, for this wasn't a simple shipping vid (which I adore just as much as the next person, don't get me wrong - lol - they, too, are essential, especially when I need something to make me smile or a crack pairing to make me rethink my previous assumptions and remind me that I am not infallible) but I knew I was dealing with a subject that has become quite important to me for numerous reasons, and I did not want to give any less than my best for this vid.
Vixen0705 2 years ago
That being said, it makes your previous comment all the more meaningful, in which you assure me that my inner demons are comprised of nothing but lunacy, and I truly appreciate the fact that you took the time to assert such, because I do place great stock in what my friends think of me. Seeing that you are resolute in your affirmation that my various attempts of expression succeed in whatever goal I have set for myself truly means more to me than mere words can express. And for that I thank you.

ugh- think youtube just destroyed my comment... you reach character limits as I get destroyed.
StaneshiftTheWolf 2 years ago
That sentence made me giggle much more than such a comment should merit, but only because I, too, have fallen victim to spontaneously deleted comments, and ALWAYS keep a word document open for pasting purposes, which I do for any and every comment I leave: copy and paste, THEN - AND ONLY THEN do I hit send. Obviously I have been burnt numerous times to have cultivated this habit to begin with. You have my sympathy, in tandem with a knowing giggle which arises from sharing the same circumstance.
