  • giggity

  • to be honest, this isn't that great, the shading is a little too abrupt. There is no smooth transition from dark to light and it makes it appear unnatural.....i'm not artist but that's what i think

  • lol

  • I appreciate her taking the time to do this. Thank you.

  • She sucks at teaching and shading D:

  • awful

  • @ZoSo3K how is this bad? i want to see one of your drawings, please.

  • @zulok1337

No problem. Sent you a message

  • @ZoSo3K didn't let me see it, had an error of some sort.

  • i'll be damned, an expertvillage video that's actually numbered!

  • your drawing is sucks ... yaaaakh

  • Maybe many of you can't read..."for Beginners". The fundamentals of teaching a broad beginning course in anything is to reduce things to it's simplest form so that as many as possible can understand.

  • HOLY CRAP TROLL!

  • Call it a highlight instead of a "white spot."

  • @Tparadise626 in the 1st video she does call it that. why the hell does it make a difference anyways?

  • @sonictales69 If you call it a "white spot" you are talking to children, which is a complaint in some of the comments. It would be like calling, cross-hatching, "lines that go sideways and other lines that go sideways against eachother," it's just stupid.

  • This video is somewhat helpful, not entirely though. No one should be given bad remarks on their work, no one was made perfect. Thanks for the vid, keep posting more.

  • This made me very confident with my skills. Thank you

  • I really get that sesame street learning effect from expert village videos.

  • i can draw better than her mom.

  • expertvillage should change their name to expertfailage

  • thats real good man! for kindergarten

  • wow you're not good at all

  • this is not a good demonstration at all.

  • I haven't got to the video yet BECAUSE of the advert, but hearing the comments, they arent REALLY telling us rub our fingers around are they?

NOT GOOD. NOT A GOOD WAY.

    Expertvillage, WHAT?

  • why didn't they get the person who drew the other circle to do this video?

  • thanks

  • i get practice by rubbing my boyfriends bum hole... works the same on paper I'm amazing.

  • 0:01 to skip ad

  • Wow, expertvillage can't even teach us how to shade a circle lol

  • @BillyBob1041 LOL, You made me spit out bourbon.

  • tired of youtube giving this kind of shit back again in my seach list... Stop calling yourself expert, or, review your video more than once before posting... Unbelievable!

  • The darkest area she has on the circle isn't soft enough. It looks like the circle has an edge.

  • she didn't sharpen her pencils properly oh my goodness.

  • @abcdjsux ur def no drawer .. Sharp points are not always the best for use .. :)

  • You dont ''shade'' a circle... you ''shade '' a sphere

  • Technically, you don't shade the sphere. The sphere is AFTER it's shaded.

  • more like loser village

  • It is NOT drawing! It is not god way.

  • To all those haters.... where is your "How to videos" for beginners? If you are "expert" and "better" than her, then bring it on buddy!

Disclaimer: I am not associated with the Expert Village. I am allergic to the base-less comments.

  • i drew better than that when i was 4

  • Expert Village? - shouldn't that be Village Idiot?!

  • wtf go learn how to shade.

  • I can draw better then her and i can ride better BMX then the most of the videos there :D

  • Search for "Jacques Fresco On Drawing", there's the best tutorial on earth.

  • I don't know about best.....But, good call. 10x better this this expertvillage vid.

  • Thanks for that, dude.

  • WHAT!!??? Smudging pencil with your finger? The natural oils could ruin your drawing. Use a a qtip, tissue or brush to blend. Also if you have to smudge so much you really haven't learned how to use your pencil correctly.

  • Her cylinder is outta perportation!! i hate that! lmao

  • Dudes it's for beginners!

  • use a cotton swab or q-tip for shading good times

  • bad shading

  • thats why i dont trust expert village

heres someone that will really teach you:

    ElectricAsylumArt

    HES THE BEST!!

  • horrible shading, and I think we know how to erase and rub our finger on paper... For people watching this, go to the channel called: MarkKistler. Hes much better!

  • Boy youtube suscriber are tough crowd. The pic isn't that bad. I think is good. Yeah is not a professional work, but is srill good.

  • i can rub my finger on paper too

  • she knows you can and therefore she posted the video. so now you know that using your finger to rub can help with shading. the title reads How to draw for beginners.

  • wow thats a shitty sphere and shading

  • I am LMAO becaaaaauuuse... This is only the second video I've seen out of "Expert VIllage" - but I've sworn them off. They don't seem to screen their experts very well... I have no probelm with the way the end result looked on this vid, but reading through these comments points to some serious contention with the didactic & academic caliber of "expert VIllage" being not quite up to par...

  • First off, you might not want to listen to what she is doing. She didn't shade right, and she shouldn't soften so much of the circle. She was wrong in using her finger, then using an eraser to making this super white highlight that doesn't go with the softening. She also shades little parts of the shadow, which is wrong. She should shade with long parallel streaks so that the shading is mostly even, then she should go over in darker places of the shadow. -Kimmy, 14, CT

  • please...please...PA-LEASE...stop calling it a circle....it's a sphere for crying out loud.....!!

  • If my art teacher had cot me using my finger like that he would have slapped my face 30 shades of blue

  • LOL

i thought u were suppose to grade the tones..

  • I could of done that without watching this video.

  • em if you always do your lines and after you rub your finger over it it doesn't show your talent

  • You know, i think its good to learn All diffrent ways of approaching drawing and art as a whole! thats why I love it, there are no rules, it incourages you to explore, and as well use your creativity for your own personal touch. she's only showing her approach and I respect that. it was still a very lovely drawing.

  • defenly! That just the way I feel about drawing too! Glad there is someone who thinks the same.

  • where do i start then? eh?

  • an artist will use every resource possible to express their perception. some of us are beyond techniques and guidelines apart from those we make for ourselves and then there are those who are by books. even the 'greats' knew when to discard their schools and when to incept their own ideal after all it is their view. pssh rules. you people went to school to follow rules, i went to break them and make all new ones. peace.

  • not only that, but that's a SPHERE not a circle!!!

  • Like everyone else has commented! Expert should know better not to teach students to smudge their drawings with fingers. You can either use a tissue or a stump. By using our fingers, the object you draw will look greasily shiny due to the oil secreteed from our fingers. That's a very basic rule I taught my students! No fingers!!!!

  • ohhhhhhhhhhh this sucks!!!! i better go watch wall-e

  • why does everybody seem to hate expert village? there were comments like these on another video too...?

  • Because it doesn't help. Expert village likes to be corporate, so all of their videos are supposed to be cute little quick "helpers" instead in in-depth guides. Expert Village has never helped me with anything.

  • Realy bad teacher.

  • this absolutly awefuls and frauds on every subject.

  • I dont mean to be rude or anything, but thats just ugly as hell.

  • no, dont ever do that XD

Seriously you guys, dont use a finger to blend. it does not look good. you can use a napkin or a q-tip.

  • or you can do whatever the hell you want as long as you the outcome is what you were going for....

  • if you are going for a bad smudged, oily drawing, then yes.

  • Lady... ive seen 6 year olds who do that... no jokes.

However you could always cut the circle out and try kill yourself with it. That COULD work. however you NEVER EVER EVER use your finger to shade with pencil... you imbecile.

  • thats good 1^^

we hv2 understand thats just basics 4 ppl who may not know how 2 draw a bloody circle:/

  • In my country, you should never use a finger during exams to soften the line. Otherwise you get no marks what so ever. This is shit even for beginners.

  • wow kids are little punks now a days

  • sorry its a little bit bad but good

  • AAAAA This is Bad

Are You Have Eyes ? I Can't Speak English Well But

    Ina4e rabotata i e za Dobar (4)

  • whos makin thios piece of shit shows?

  • ur ugly

  • and you are pretty?

  • yes

  • What she is drawing is, in fact, a circle.

No doubt the item she was illustrating was a sphere, but she drew a circle and shaded it to make it look spherical.

What she drew on the paper was a shaded circle.

  • Well... it isn't exactly a circle. it's a sphere.

  • 1rst efford counts but

You dont smudge on a circle it makes it look unreal. Dont use your flat side of your pencil you want to use your tip of the pencil and really blend it in. the highlight is off and not really destinctable

    but - the efford counts

  • exactly

  • No offense but this Sucks. She starts with the damn thing almost complete. Where's the step by step? Lucky thing I know how to draw. Feel sorry for a beginner.

  • ignore the bad comments it's ok

  • My ten-year old cousin can make better circles peeing in the snow. Get off of youtube!

  • hmf.. unimpressive

  • smudging just makes it look more clean and smooth, everyone has different techniques

  • u cant be teaching here if u dont know how to draw. That circle is incomplete. And please... using the finger to make the shadow? -.-;; BIG MISTAKE

  • I do charcoal renderings and use my fingers all the time. You say using a finger for shadow is a big mistake. Just out of curiousity why? Thanks!

  • egyptchik24, you should never use your fingers to smudge graphite because your skin contains oils that go onto your drawing. You should use something like a paper towel and there are things you can buy specifically for smudging - made of paper.

Also, so far, expertvillage has failed to show me something worthwhile in any of their drawing tutorials. They aren't worth watching.

  • Thanx

  • It was better when she didn't smudge it

  • that's a long title, but the vid was and still is amazing! ^_^

  • its a ball not a circle

  • tis is condoi not a ball

  • tis is sphere not a condoi

  • it is ningkubao not a sphere......

  • I don't recommend smudging the shading with your finger, just use pencil lines, it adds more texture.

  • Shadows have no texture unless they are on something textured...

  • It still looks more realistic and professional. You can still make a sphere look smooth if you use pencil lines, instead of smudging with a finger.

  • Ok, but I smudge all the time, and know lots of good artists who do too. Maybe thats why I'm not a professional though, because I sudge lol.

  • lol it's just an opinion

  • wat opinion....|?????i

    this is ningkubao basic drawing...

b4 u start draw condoi or ningku u must draw this 1st.....

  • wat shadow no texture????shadow is a texture

  • texture is how a surface feels or how you think it will feel :D

  • shadows show dimension. It can show texture depending where the shading is being done...it just all depends.

  • that is a very good drawing.

  • Thank a lot

  • why does everyone who draws or paint have to become so pretentious.enjoy art . Just stay real.Give the woman a chance she is helping start people out in their artwork.

  • i'd give this a 8 out of 10, mainly cus she didn't concentrate much on the sphere..and mostly on the sphere's shadow.

  • "shade a circle"- were taking about it's shadow from the beginning, that's why it's not "how to draw a circle"

  • wow its so realistic it freaked me out in the end! How do u do that!?

  • Amateur

  • its pretty helpful if your gonna make backgrounds and humans.. makeing there shadow

  • u now he/she is an expert O_o cuz he/she is a prosessional i can tell cuz there own website and sketches and the basic stuff :3

  • This was a good video why do people bytch so much... ????????

  • Wow very nice!

  • is it some joke?

  • this solution sux... don't use finger noob to make gradients, for this u have difrent pencils -.-'

for this picture will be good pencils from HB to 2B

  • um.. im sorry but you think you have talent?!

  • oooo a circle... wow... so good :D... im soo mean im real soory but it's nothing special... TAKE MARK CRILLEY'S EXAMPLE

  • she doesnt know how to forshorten lol...

  • i can draw alot better than this women...

im on a freinds profile but i might make a video of drawings

  • can't you draw w/o using an object ?

  • She probably can, but using reference is quite useful, especially when teaching.

  • man your good 5/5

  • ITS A SPHERE

    not a circle

  • you shade a circle which turns into a sphere

  • Art is like music in the sense that you can use what ever techniques you want. You as the artist make that decision.

  • my art techer told me that some ppl r good at drawing like robots but could never draw a human so to all u out ther if you cant draw a human keep trying

  • as I know we aren`t allowed to use the finger to do that shade... are we?

  • She didnt do it right it doesnt look like a circle

  • she make the shadow

  • i have to agree. it doens't look like a circle. the shading on the ball is to large for what it ealy is

  • mosXL Just emage something and draw it... That's all

  • smugeing is not a art technique that is used or taught in art classes it makes it look sloppy and dirty real artist can confidently acheive corect shadeing without smudgeing

  • i do art classes, n we smudge all the time, it actually works, but if u think it does than thats ur opinion

  • Next time you write a comment please use punctuation

  • "smudging is not an art technique". thanks for your input... ye god of all things art.

With pencil maybe smudging isnt the greatest idea, but have you ever worked with compressed charcoal, or soft pastels? Smudging is a huge part of that type of art. I.E. blending of colors.....

  • it looked 3d everytime the *person* put the camera on its side lol, anyway apart from that, excellent!

  • how to draw machines esp cars and such?

  • It's kind of hard to answer u're question, cause there r so many elements that go into drawing machines, cars etc. But what I can tell you is that this is a good start. Plus on top of that drawing can't really be explained though text. It's all about technique.

  • wow, I hope I am able now to really shade better. Art class shading should now be a bit easier.

  • im never good at drawing and shadeing but i drawing for the fun of it

  • you should show us how to do portraits.

  • You present good technique however if you experienced more with the woodless graphite pencils (using different shades to acquire for the change in lightness to darkness in the circle) you find a much softer outcome in the drawing. it would also prevent you from having to use your fingers to smudge (but if you need to smudge or blend, use a smudging tool).

  • iunno bout u guys but i think the transition from the dark part to the light side on the ball is waaaaayyy to subtle and not smooth enough

  • besides my point to tattoomastering. i dont think this was such a great attempt at such an easy job. Maybe its the lighting and camera but the shading could have been much more smooth looking and blended in better. She's not such an "expert"

ugh i hate artist who call themselves "expert" or "professional"...makes you sound like a dork! art means too much for that B.S

  • ummm... ima noob artist... buh how else would u smudge for shading???

  • doh, nevermind

  • to be honest the camera angle is awkward so no real way to know for sure.

  • the shadow is placed not in the right way...i know because im a professional artist and i draw for more than 15 years ...it could be better..I'd say

  • tattoomastering, you have no clue what you're tlaking about, because if you would then you would explain every viewer of the video what the heck you're talking about, right?

  • no im true.. the sphere could be done softer ..

  • hey could you give me some tips i'm trying to draw cars from a perspective do u have any vids or tutorials on sketching that cud help me?
