Interesting! You guys changed the tune though, everything's slightly different across the pond! Should sound more like this, youtube.com/user/freechurchofscotland#p/u/9/RB80dBIY8qE
How could you want to praise God in any other way than through the singing of psalms without instrumentation? It is pure and wonderful and the inspired Word of God! Powerful!
@nleshelman I love to sing psalms A cappella, it is the song book of the Bible. There are other songs in the Bible, for sure, but this is a whole book meant to be sung to God. I like just voices praising God. However, it is a contradiction to sing the Psalms and at the same time condemn praising God with instruments.
"Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!...
Praise the Lord!" (Psalm 150) The Psalms command us, and therefore God commands us to praise him with instruments. Instruments are not impure. There are other parts of Bible set to music. There is no need to eliminate these.
@cabecarpenter I would suggest reading "The True Psalmody" and John Girardeau's "Instrumental Music in the Public Worship of the Church." Both are available for free at Google Books (for some reason, YouTube won't let me link to them).

@nleshelman Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
...praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!" (Psalm 150) The Psalms command us, and therefore God commands us to praise him with instruments. Instruments are not impure. There are other parts of Bible set to music. There is no need to eliminate these.
