Bush was better than Obama but opened the door for Obama. Because the media wasnt in the tank for Obama, Americans were fully engaged in the political mess before Obama got involved, and McCain would have shit rainbows and sunshine and resurrected Reagan to run as VP and all would have been glorious. Why should someone vote for a lib R when they could have a real liberal finally take the blame for liberal ideas? McCain understands that more troops will win the battle. Does he understand the battle or is he another "hearts and minds" guy? Because if he is trying to win "hearts and minds" then he would get as many or more of our guys killed. We are fighting way too PC and I don't see nation building working in Afghanistan. I support the surge but even McCrystal can't guarantee it will work.

McCain would have pushed a liberal big government agenda on us and instead of fight him, you would wave the flag. Let the actual liberal take the blame for the liberal policies. McCain doesn't try to appeal to moderates. He tries to appeal to the far left elements. People need to see that the republican party is in contrast to the liberal dems. Not the same with a different name. If you move left then liberals win. They don't care about the pace, only that the move is to the left. We would not have had Reagan without Carter. Obama has kept in place most Bush era policies on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. He talks the liberal game but he is stuck with reality. He wants to close Gitmo yet has ordered an extension of rendition practices. McCain would mean well but don't underestimate the left wing forces against the war and how having their golden boy forced to follow McCrystal (who is much more popular on this issue) will effectively neuter liberal opposition. Obama will have a tough time using any other path.

"Look, I know this probably sounds arrogant to say, President Bush said, but I redefined the Republican Party. Yes, a big government spending spree. You are probably dealing with actual conservatives off of Hot Air or similar sites that linked to this. I don't listen to Glenn much. I work too many hours to catch him. I just understand his statement about McCain. You don't need to fight Obama 100% of the time. He has members of his own party fighting him. If you want to believe the American people aren't worth anything then that is your problem.
