4.85 diff? can it maintain 120-130kmh for long periods at 180 tonnes? i would love to see a scania properly set up for heavy road train work. That would shut up the kenworth fans!
yes yes 4.85 it is hub reduced diff scheduled for at least 150 ton...in some cases up to 250t (with WSK)
but with this 180 tons I mean that can not go faster than 110kmh ( with 620hp).with 4:27 ratio differential could go 120kmh with 150tons. (also hub reduction rbp835+rp835).
but the problem Scania´s problem is that there is still no v8 EGR....,although should soon come out....scr catalyst and takes too much space on the chassis....( catalyst and silencer)and ad-blue tank ,but with EGR engines is a problem because they have weaker fuel economy.....
but generally Scania is not for the most difficult conditions ....because there is no three drive axle (I think rear 3 not the front)and there is no tractor combinations with 3 rear axles.
@swiftyjim2 there is a company in western australia that has 5 scania R580s on double road train, b double with an nextra trailer behind and an 8X4 rigid with double road train behind that, 100kmh is the speed limit australia wide

in Italy there are some versions of Scania's 8x4/4 with the standard gearbox for 192t rxxx 8x4/4 hnc-with front air and rear leaf/parabolic suspension dif ratio si 5.14 with grs905 grso905
and there are probably 5 Scania's for 200t with 5.14 and direct gearboxbut it is only for easier terrain conditions.......... in the meantime the fair bauma Scania has introduced a new ratio of differential 6.5:1 for mining applications

As much as i love scania v8's, they cant handle heavy road train work here in australia. Just not built for these extreme conditions.

Scania is able to easily pull 180 tons as LA 6X4 hna oh hhz /ezh chassis with f958 frame
